NFS: Shift new COTD - Lamborghini Murciélago
Today's Need for Speed Car of the Day is the Lamborghini Murciélago. Originally designed by Luc Donckerwolke, it was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo. The base price of the Murciélago is $313,000 (USD) which is $107,000 (USD) more that the Gallardo.
The Murciélago sports a 6.5-litre version of the Lamborghini V12 engine, a six-speed manual or 6-speed sequential automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. It also has a rear spoiler that can be raised to an angle of 70 degrees, side mirrors that fold in to improve aerodynamics, and side scoops that automatically open to the needed size to let in just the right amount of air needed to cool its engine.
In 2006, the Murciélago's engine was replaced by a stronger 6.5-liter engine and the car's name was changed to Murciélago LP640. For the 2007 model year Lamborghini did the same with the roadster model, which is now called Murciélago LP640 Roadster.
Some quick stats on the performance of the Murciélago:
- Power: 580 PS (572 hp / 427 KW)
- Torque@RPM: 649 Nm (479 lb ft)
- 0 - 62 MPH: 3.8 seconds
- 0 - 100 MPH: 8.6 seconds
- 0 - 150 MPH: 21.4 seconds
- Quarter Mile: 12.6@127 MPH
- Official Top Speed: 205 MPH (330 KM/H)

I think those performance figures are for the original Murcielago not the LP640...The pictures seem to show the LP640 version
do the side wings of the car go up, when hitting high speeds?
Gotta love the shots of Spa Francorchamps :)
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!
