NFS: Shift GameSpot and IGN Hands on Reviews.

The closer we get to the release of Shift, the more of the gaming sites get their hands-on reviews out for us to read and compare. This week, both IGN and GameSpot have posted their impressions on how shift appealed to them.

The GameSpot review focuses more on the career aspect of Shift describing it in depth with quite some detail.

The Career mode is arranged by tiers, each offering more events and circuits than the last. The way you progress through tiers is by collecting stars, which are the game's basic unit of progress. Rather than taking the harsh, unforgiving route of forcing players to win a race in order to unlock more races,

IGN also describes the career quite thoroughly, and shows some other interesting information about the tier system and some of the racing aspects.

You will of course have a ton of tuning options for your rides, but there are also macro level options that'll help adjust things for you. So if you don't want to go in and modify your tire pressure and spring rate just to affect your overall handling, you can jump up a level to something that'll modify these for you automatically with a single, easy to use slider. Of course, you can also use these macro options to tune it from a top level and then dig in to fine-tune your settings if you'd like.

We have received word that EA will be holding a Community Day in early September as well for us, so we hope to bring a complete hands on review for everyone to read. I will be making a thread about it, and will be requesting in that thread ideas in what you want some focus to be in the review, what parts to put more emphasis on, and what to try out more in order to give an accurate impression. With any luck, we will have several points of view in order to avoid any "biased" opinion.
