Description
I have converted NFS3s traffic cars to NFS4. It will help people with Windows XP and people with slower computers. It will help prevent Windows XP from shutting down NFS4 due to high amount of detail and it should help framerates. This is just a beta version because certain cars wouldnt convert correctly and right now there are just some place holders.
Enhancements:
-No blocky pop up model (the pop up model is the model you see when youre a light distance away)
-fixed light dummies on cop car
-gave the cop car a cop that stands beside your car when you get busted
-VERY fast cops that will run down almost anything you drive.
More info in the Readme, Enjoy!

Azrael, XP acts different on all computers. On my comp (2.08 GHz, 512 RAM, 64 MB Geforce 4), I cant play the game on a nice track with a nice car without the game cutting off. Im not the only one with this problem (go to the Running NFS4 on XP topic in the forum). Im trying to help the other people with that problem and those people with slow comps like the one I got rid of in December (it would lag like crazy on NFS4). Some people will find no use in this. Fine, then they dont have to download it.
@ Big Country: some of the cars are just placeholders and I will release an update to replace those cars so that there will be more variety.
funny how i run xp and all of my traffic cars are mainly my nfsu conversions and then i only run high poly cars
i do all of this on a p3 866 so i dont see your problem
and i still lack the point of this
Hm...no comments yet. Im assuming/hoping that everythings fine.
No offense but, if a PC isnt able to render NFS:IVs standard traffic cars, which are obviously mainly based on NFS:IIIs traffic cars (only a low poly :OC part and some european cars were added), how is it then possible to play NFS:IV on it at all?
Well, if it cant render NFS4s traffic cars, youve got lots of problems. All this does for slow computers is it helps framerate, especially when using high poly cars. Even on my old computer, which was far more than recommended, the game would slow down when I used high poly cars. So you can either drive crappy looking cars to get better framerate, or crappy looking traffic. Thats your choice. And Windows XP will shut off NFS4 when you have too much detail. By lowering the traffic detail, it drastically lowers that problem. But I never said that PCs couldnt render them, I just said that it will enhance framerates a little bit.
I think this is an interesting intiative.
Ill give it a try and see what difference it will make. :)
Im a user of an XP PC, and its a really good one for playing NFS:IV (2,67 Ghz, G4MX440SE, 256DDR). I have high poly traffic cars (baardk) installed, but Ive also high poly racecars and it works more than fine . But I dont want to say something against your work, if there are people who have this problem, its really nice from you to work on this project. :super:
If you add an other traffic car folder will the game use the car?
P.S. I dont mean adding another folder called traffic either.
As far as I am aware, it wont. The folder the game uses is set in the nfshs.exe.
Ok thanks for responding I was wanting to know because It would have been better with lots of different cars for traffic. Oh well.
I dont think it will. Just so you guys know, There will be an update coming, but the traffic cars wont be from NFS3. They will be low poly and will fill all of the placeholders. It should come in a week or so. Just so you know, NJ, I myself have that problem with XP and I ha dbeen looking around for a low poly traffic pack and when I couldnt find one, I decided to make my own. I look at this as more of a patch because it totally solved my problems. And thanks for the compliments.
