Pursuit Electronic Arts Placeholder A

A Need for Speed: High Stakes addon vehicle by Electronic Arts and DJ Mantis.

Official Readme File

Introduction:
In the past, there has been a lot of hype surrounding the Placeholder. The spare, unused car that EA put into the game of NFS4. Back when this game was superceded by its successors, the Placeholder was a favorite for modders for use as a base for their own projects. Yet through all these different versions, one version of EA's Placeholder failed to surface: a pursuit version.
I thought of this opportunity for a vehicle about a week ago and immediately bagan working on the Pursuit Placeholder. As you, the end user, will see in the game, this car features a unique VidWall, new police textures, it now has an interior with clear windows, and, of course, a light bar on top. All of these modifications were added for a great conversion into Pursuit territorry...

...Future Versions
I shall continue to work on this car even after it has been released and downloaded. My main activities will be pertaining to bug-fixing and adding more features for an almost "Official Electronic Arts" feel.

Bugs
Here are some of the known bugs on the Pursuit Placeholder A:

* Within the light bar, there are four light bulbs that are to be the source of the flashing lights. When you are racing, you may notice that these lights do not appear as they do at the Car Select menu. I am working on fixing this.
* This car does not feature a driver in its cabin. This is because the interior is modified from that of the Chevrolet Camaro, and the driver movements were not favorable, to say the very least. I do not contain the skill to edit driver movements, so I eliminated the problem by deleating the driver. But the seat and steering wheel do remain.
* Another cockpit problem, there are no interior textures. They consist of what looks like a dark shadow filling the space, and this looks all right if not at all detailed. The lit-up gauges are taken from the car's underside, admittedly, but they look respectibly like dashboard equipment.
* The damage featured for this car is primitive CarCAD damage. It gets the job done, no question, but I hope to equip future editions with true damage models.

Future Versions
Below are some of the features I hope to include in future releases of this car.

* First things first: I would adore to have a showcase. I have the slides, interior, Front End Data, even the interior (taken from the Camaro) finished, yet I am still have troubles with making it appear in-game.
* I am also working on making images to appear on the main menu VidWalls. I am again having difficulties with causing this feature to appear in Need for Speed: High Stakes.
*Last but not least, I am going to make an attempt at making a loading slide to go along with the vehicle. The slide will replace that of the Summit course.

EL: Keep in mind that I didn't make the original car. I just added on to the EA stuff, so the things you mentioned are EA's fault, not mine. ;)

aqua: in the nfs directory, go to "carmodel" folder. in there, make a folder with the car's name and put the file in it. then your car will work on the game.

aqua: i get the exact same problem, and it remains unsolved. but if you edit cars, you crack open the fce file with carcad, find the list of parts, and remove the one that souldn't be there.

Aqua: thnx. If you have any more problems, you can let me know. I'd be glad to help (especially if the problem regards my own car).

DJMantis; My problem is I downloaded some cars, and they're pretty detailed. I try to run them in the game, and the course loads 1/4% then it turns black. What happend and how can I fix it?

By the way, it's not your car, but your car is one I LOVE.

Sounds like you need to install a high-poly patch if they're really detailed. Look in the tools section and there should be two to choose from.

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Thanks for the help, but I found the problem!

For everyone out there, Make sure you're not using software render 3D thing. use the other one. That will help!

Where can you download this NFS cop car maker mentioned? I have always used NFS Wizard to open car files that I want to be police and changed the Car.VIV to a pursuit file but this Cop Maker thing sounds like it'll be much easier (^_^) so where do I find it?
