Damn, I had just made about 200 screenshots (about an hour) before you added the vinyls - which I do appreciate, as I tend to use flame body paint jobs on your cars. Thing is - my usual complaint here - without custom hoods (hello Robin) (*) & classic muscle car rims (s/a ATT) (hello EA - or perhaps - Femicide, if all goes well with the Golden Muscle Era mod) those flames look a bit out of place.

Hmm, don't know what to say other than that which I have already said with regards to your other models so I'll just resort to a simple 'thank you'. :-)

I hope the pictures do the car justice.

(*) MCO allowed you to customize really huge cars s/a the Galaxie 500 so I don't really see how a hood scoop could harm something like the Newport here.

Double Mac, you could've used some FSAA for the pics, cause they are full of epic win but the jaggies are fail.

Great work Robin. As always.

@GTR : As you know, FSAA f*cks up the preformance and Double Mac, i think, has an intel 965 integrated chipset which would lag like hell if he would turn Full-Screen AA on.

Anyways, Robin, you are tooooo awesome.

@ GTR: My sh*tty card doesn't even support anything as contrived as FSAA. :-( Glad you appreciate the captured spirit though.

Has anyone noticed the extra side mirror? Robin, if you think this little gimmick is gonna shut me up about the hoods... well, you're mistaken. :-) Holding my breath for version 1.2, I guess.

And, please, DON'T do a Nissan 370z (like it ever crossed your mind).

There's a 1970 Mercury Cyclone (converted) by Warlock2 replacing the level 5 'Vette. It's pretty high-poly but looks amazing. Here's the link:

http://allnfs.ru/downloads.php?view=784

And a direct DL link if your Russian is a bit rusty:

http://allnfs.ru/downloads.php?view=784&download_id=784

@ Apocalypse: Can't believe you remembered that model's number - I can't even remember what exact CPU is running my laptop. :-) Anyway, I have tried switching FSAA on manually via the registry entries for MW & Carbon but - surprise - that option is still 'grayed out' in the games' menus.

Double Mac:
thanks for the link but can you tell me what a "high-poly" is

Sure, it refers to the high polygon count (and, consequently, complexity) of a 3D mesh, which basically means that you might need a decent graphics card in order to enjoy the company of, say, 10-12 of those beasts on your tail without a drastic drop in the framerate department (which happens in my case, for example).

On the other hand, inherent programming limitations of an application (and MW is likely to suffer from this phenomenon too) might result in poor performance regardless of your hardware. This happens with PU & HP2 for example.

Robin's cars are great examples of fantastically detailed-looking models constructed without resorting to a 'million' polygons in order to create the impression of that high level of detail.

Anyway, check out Robin's thread (link in the description above) for more info on classic American cars in general. (We're a bit off-topic here.)

It's nothing special. Just a 73 Newport.

4.5/5 because of the great modeling.

I mean the type of car itself sucks. Robin always makes great modeled cars.

The term 'sucks' is totally irrelevant. If you ask me, an Impreza 'sucks' because I find it 'ugly'. But I also understand that a lot of people get excited about it, and I choose to respect that.

I know what you're saying but, believe me, there is a demand for this 'type of car' in MW (and other driving games - GTA SA is a good example) - and I'm glad that Robin answers that demand with such admirable talent & flair.

Robin is obviously passionate about those huge American classics - otherwise he wouldn't bother with modeling them. Finally, if you actually give this car a try you'll find it pretty fast.

As always, this is a wonderful job. The car is just perfect, you can almost feel all the details of this model, and considering it's a classic american full-size, it's an incredible experience.
I love to drive those things with manual gearbox and go slowly, feeling this V8 working like a dream. I'm so lucky I found these jobs of you, I mean, considering the fact all your models are classic american cars, I'm considering you're an enthusiast as well as I am.
The only thing I don't like in MW is the fact that there's no old classic/muscle in it, but now this little issue is fixed and I can drive those things all day long, thanks to you, Robin. Hope you can keep doing this awesome work for a long time, and I hope someday EA could add these pieces of art to their games.
I also would love to suggest one model: A very classic 1948 Tucker Torpedo, since this model is something we'll never see in any racing games, and it's a truly wonder for those who know Preston Tucker's history; It would be a dream coming true.
Once again, thanks for sharing this file with all of us.

10/10 rating.

@ Sinatra: I also think that it's about time for Robin to tackle something from the 1940s, and your suggestion feels quite appropriate. It's an original choice & a potentially ambitious task - just the thing for Mr. '7t4.

I absolutely love it when Robin dazzles us with something out of his usual area of interest (ie late 60's => early / mid 70's road tanks such as the Newport). The 1930 Ford & the 1956 Bel Air / Nomad are impeccable, unforgettable gems which immediately stand out in his amazing collection. On the other hand, neglecting to mention those outstanding designs which do come out of Robin's era of preference - to me it's the 'holy trinity' of the Toronado, the Wildcat & the Riviera (in a chronological order as I love them all) - would be a crime.

One of the reasons I kept 'pressing' Robin to go back to one of his cancelled projects - the 1970 Camaro - was to witness his talents applied to a beautiful, though slightly untypical (for '7t4's tastes) model whose inclusion would further increase the diversity of this - already astounding - array of classics.

@ Sinatra: Not you first asking about Tucker, BlueBear also asked
--> http://www.nfscars.net/forum/showpost.php?p=404911&postcount=226
After i finish the camaro (or maybe i should say: if i finish - Double Mac you know what i'm talking about) i intended to model a '66 Charger, but you remembered me that Tucker and maybe i'll change my mind.

Damn, I should have kept my mouth shut! :-(

Anyway, a '66 Charger? The fastback? Hell, now I kind of regret backing Sinatra's suggestion. It's a tough choice indeed.

I really appreciate your considering my suggestion, also the fact both of you guys like the idea of a Tucker. But, as Double Mac said, it's a very tough choice, the Charger is an amazing ride, and I'm sure we can expect something really great coming from your very capable hands. I'd like to say that the Tucker is only a suggestion, and I only would like you to make it if you feel like doing so, I wouldn't dare asking you if you will make the car and really expect you to choose the model of you preference. Honestly, in my point of view, your will is our will, since you are the artist here and every single piece of art you make keep us happy for weeks. Plus, I'm really happy that someone else asked for the Torpedo, seems that Preston's legacy wasn't forget (I'd like to suggest something else - and much more rare -, but I'll probably pm you sometime or even use the forum to do so).
I just not only support the idea of a ’66 Charger, I’m also eager to see that dream… Running! You really have a good taste for classic rides!
Just to mention (and as you may know) I'm a big fan of your work, and if I can help you with something (like blueprints, photos, and details about some specific models, history or whatever), just contact me: I'd be glad for helping you with this amazing project.

@ Sinatra: Robin's fanclub is here: http://www.nfscars.net/forum/group.php?groupid=73

You won't get a free coffee but you might still be interested in joining in. :-)

It's also recommended to check out Robin's 'Old American Cars' thread (link in the description above) where you'll find info on the progress of Femicide's interesting project - a total MW conversion titled the 'Golden Muscle Era' mod (necessarily incorporating some of Robin's creations) & some lost gems, s/a '7t4's 1966-69 Riviera which the author - for some reason - deemed unworthy of release.
