I don't think you have full administrator rights or you are either behind a firewall or you must have installed some hardware device & windows is not checking properly & if you have installed some hardware device, then you might have to reinstall windows again.

Maybe you could try getting Windws Vista. It has all of the right things you need for playing games on it. :)

That's all you ever recommend for solving a software/hardware related problem. You don't know what you're talking about. Vista is too buggy right now. Yes, I know some people dissagree with me, but oh well. Back on topic: Google it!

Rally Master says.....NVIDIA display drivers. Uninstall the current drivers and then reinstall them. If problem persists, reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows. You also might want to disable the auto restart upon BSOD.

Sorry guys. I didn't know. Maybe you're just going to go with what you have. Get a PS2, PSP, PS3, or X-Box.

Just one question, osa_mah91? Can you play other games fine? If yes, then I think it's a driver issue. Try reinstalling the drivers or try an older version (or a few older versions).
If other games aren't runing as well, right click on your "My Computer" icon, and click on Properties. Then go in Device Manager, and see if there are any exclamation marks there... Also I'm sure this is not causing your problem, but check and see if hardware acceleration is on "full".

Lemme tell you, I advise you just return the game and ask for a refund.

1. Carbon has a bad storyline.
2. Game is very glitchy and buggy.
3. Night time racing makes me feel like ricing which I don't.

1) what version directX do you have installed?

You mentioned you reformatted your PC...
2) did you reinstall the game? or just kept the game files in their respective folders and trying to use shortcut from desktop, start menu, or even directly double clicking on nfsc.exe?

If you did not reinstall the game, specific (and necessary) registry keys will not exist and could cause many more problems with winblowz than one would desire.. if you did a full install of the game after doing the reformat and windows reinstall, then I would look towards video (or possibly sound) drivers, directX version and if still no luck, get some windows updates from microsoft's web page... g/l..

i did a fresh install of the game.

i have:

1. DirectX 9.0c June 2007 Upgrade
2. nVidia ForceWare 94.24 (Latest Drivers)
3. Sound Card 5 Years Old Drivers :D (but the game worked last time with the same drivers as well)

-i then thaught that the game might have some problem but i just trie it on my friend's PC and it works perfectly fine :o

Did the game work before the patch was installed? Did you try it after the fresh install before you just installed the patch?

How about the obvious, your CD is scratched or damaged in any other form? If you have a disc cleaner try that. If that doesn't work, return it and get a brand new CD. If Most Wanted works and Carbon doesn't, it's something with the disc.

Damaged discs do not cause BSODs.

OP: Downgrade to 84.21. They're the only drivers that I've found for my 6800GS that works with everything.

@the origional poster. the Version of the video drivers are not meant for the 6800 and below cards. the last version that supports the 6800 and below is version 93.71. As I have a Factory Overclocked BFG 6800 myself I keep a close eye on the drivers. so you will need to download the 93.71 set for your vidwo card and that should clear up the problem.
