What graphics card is better 'ATI 128Mb DDR Radeon 9500 Pro 8x AGP' or 'GeForce 4 Ti4200 8X AGP 128 MB DDR'

which ever you can afford? but im gettign the pro in a week or two (in the new comp) but i prefer NVIDIA over ATI, IMO

yeah, go for NVIDIA, my 32meg one ran really smoothly, till i fried it with too many high poly nfs4 car lol, a piece of metal actually fell off the card and onto my fan lol. there still much smoother than ATI's though..

heres how i see it.

Nvidia has better graphics but has less software to come with it. ATI has not as good graphic but has more software. Your choice

get ATI if u hv the money and is willing to spend time d/l'ing patch and stuff for ur gfx card

the Radeon 9500 is a DX9 while the GF4 Ti4200 is a DX8.1 card

If you can wait a month or so, do that. The GeForce FX (follow-up of the GF4) will be released, which means that the GF4 will go down in price. You might be able to get a Ti4600 for the price of a Ti4200.

PS: that AGP 8X doesn't mean anything, it's not faster than a AGP4X GF4. It's just marketing, future graphics cards might be able to use it, but the GF4 won't.

Actually, the 9500 is faster out of the 2 mentioned... I believe its right in between the GF4 Ti4600 and ATI Radeon 9700 Pro in terms of performance...

but with AA and those extra stuff...
R9500 is waaaay faster than any of the GF4s
