actually, yes! i was saying that all night at work, and then i come here to change it and youve posted your question! lol

i spent all day cleaning at detailing the truck with my buddy and his new civic. the interior got a decent clean down and wash with a coat of armor all. i just got back from teh diy carwash with my buddy and we shot a few pics.

the photoshoot pics came out too dark, we were a bit slow on the draw, we ended up having a few beers eating and watching a movie. but you do get a nice shot of light shimmering off the bodylines

the chrome center of my bar is missing because i painted it blue to match the truck, the lightbar feet will be next

Really sweet truck, Rich! I like it much more than "Black Betty".

Rich P

i like it just the same. black betty had real beast vibes, ilove the way she looks, sounds and just over all is. its a beast man truck!
anyhoo, a small update. i added white faced guages that light up an awesome blue and can be turned green with a switch. i like them on blue more though. i also put my "el wire" trim in too around the black dash molding.

its much brighter and looks far better first hand.

heres a link to its cardomain page. its still needs lots of work, but i just started it. it will be just as neat as black bettys

black betty is now off to her new temporary home across town where she will be put away for restoration.

NICE! I love that gauge setup...

Rich P
11-20-2007, 12:33 PM
me too, i want to drive around all night just to stare at it. but i think the numbers on the speedometer are off a bit.

i got the fog lights on the bumper working, my lord theyre neat. not the best colors, but they look decent. the glass is a yellow mirror when its off, when its on, its pink at an angle and blue straight on
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4779.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4782.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4781.jpg

i was going to tape them in with the park lights, but i wasnt sure if they were on a relay, i was going to put them on with the low beams, but i realized id rather have them on whenever i wanted, so i wired them to the extra switch on my center console.

and im also going to beef up my lightbar a little more once again. im going to remove teh crappy amber home made rear flasher i put on and replace them with a set of intersection sweeps that i took out of the blue mx. i removed the reflectors from the oscilating mechanism and took amber filters from the arrowstick that was in the back of the blue mx. you can see the old oscilating part of the sweeps on the table in the pic. these will be much brighter than my originals.

I remember hearing that when you switch your gauge-face, that happens so it's probably "normal" can't be off more than a couple KMH my friend :\

Those new fog lights look nice too, I wish I could drive around with foglights on during my day. My brothers Grand Am has a nice set and I think it would look super sweet during the day with just the foggys.

Rich P

im going to check it out on my old mans truck, see if its the same. mine is in mph and kmh is the small print.

i upgraded my rear flashers on my truck, much brighter.
heres a shot with them lit up old and new, the new is on the right

i did some homebrew metal working today! i made up some "l" brackets out on steel plate and jimmy rigged some clamps to hold up my lightbar, it worked out pretty good. but it sits high and looks goofy, but works out well. i got better visibility with my area lighting like my takedowns and my worklights actually shine in the bed now.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4794.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4793.jpg

i also mounted my arrowstick
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4795.jpg

i also got the horn in.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/th_DSCN4792.jpg (http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/?action=view&current=DSCN4792.flv)
the horn didnt choke up, i accidentally let go of the button. and the camera mic is very sensitive to certain sounds, so it really picked up the compressor

my truck is now at the point where i have everything i need and want on it. im happy now, its all up to snuff

well, since the last update, ive done quite a bit of work heres what went down:

i got around to finally carpeting the center console, i did this late november.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4809-1.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4810-1.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4811.jpg

i also added some neat "s-type" led pod lights to the interior, a few tucked away everywhere.

i picked up a winch the day after boxing day to assist loading cars on the trailer, i mounted it to my license place housing on the bumper, i moved the plate to the back rack.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4840.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4842.jpg

the other day i picked up auto vent shade taillight covers, i plane to paint and pinstripe them to match the truck.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4841.jpg

mud flaps went on too
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4843.jpg

next addition was some fog/driving lights. since i have trouble seeing in the dark, mainly in the evening when its dark out and the sky is still bright. i stuck them in the grill because i have no patience to drill through the bumper. some 3m double sided tape was included, but i didnt think that stuff would hold.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4839.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4838.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4844.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/DSCN4848.jpg

i also fixed the old fog lights since they were dirty and the reflectors were rusty. i wired them to come on with park lights.

im just a set of built for tough floor mats, bigger bft rear mudflaps and a small lift set of shocks and springs away from having just where i want it. maybe clear "euro" style lights and a new hood with scoop or the lame stick ons

Rich, that lightbar setup is sick =D
That new truck... is just so cool!!! You can drive around with a lightbar on top of your truck and not get pulled over by cops? I know in NY you can put a yellow or orange one on top and you'll be OK.

Rich P
01-16-2008, 12:25 PM
thanks.
ya, it legal for me, as long as i dont use it stupidly. i use it when im hauling bigger vehicles or when im having problems towing cars. i use the area lighting much more though.

i had to get the starter motor rebuilt, it needed brushes, selenoid and a drive. i though the flywheel was shot and that i was going through the same thing as black betty, i think thats all black betty needs is a rebuilt, then shes running again. i also blew out both driver side tiures, there was rebar sticking out of a curb, it punched some nice holes, took a chunk off my rim and threw out my allignment, but theres a good chance im not paying for the tires.

another update is my taillight covers, i picked up some ford royal blue and painted them to match, unfortunaly, the royal blue its too light, the silver primer i put on made it too light. the pin striping came out great though. i just need shorter screws to hold the covers on, i can get the lights on all the
way.

You gonna give this one duals like black betty? I wanna put duals on my dad's volvo station wagon (Volvo V70 XC)

Rich P
01-16-2008, 09:36 PM
duals are on teh to do list, but new shocks, springs, and alternator all all higher on the priority list. the alternator is too wimpy to power my lights and keep the battery charged, i also plan on dual battery-ing it.
i might get a sweet deal for an alternator if the guy and shitting me. if not, a 150 amp will set me back 180$. i think shocks are 50$, thats the honkin *** gas magnums, if i want regulars, theyre 30$ each. springs are 105$ for the set

Rich P

new pics!
the only noticeable things added is the dual exhaust and clear center section of my lightbar, its got a "stingray II" rotator, thats a multifunction rotator.

these were taken a few weeks ago, i had to take my lights off for repairs, i had a short circuit in it, i put the lights i bought for black betty on there, a old skool jetsonic, all chain driven rotators

Those duals are looking good, hows she sound?

Rich P
04-08-2008, 09:28 AM
you probably see the jetstreams on tow trucks, the only real difference is independant rotators. im looking for a speaker center for my jet, maybe hook it to the stereo on a switch for the party nights hehe

A lightbar can be used as a stereo? I didn't know that. Multi-purpose lightbars. Not just lighting or sirens, music playback can be incorporated too!

yup, just put a regular speaker in it

I notice some rust showing up, like on the part where the cab is extended, and some near the wheel wells or quarter panels.... but its not bad, shouldn't be hard to fix.

Rich P
04-13-2008, 09:06 PM
yup, the driver side cab corner is pretty bad, i think i might send it to a body shop, i absolutely hate bodywork, id rather drag my balls in a mile of broken glass before i do bodywork. the driver side cab corner is the worse. it hasnt spread to the back of the cab, but a hole has already started and a small hole in the floor. the passenger side wheel well is pretty bad too. theres surface rust around the front wheel wells. that should be easy to fix, just a bit of sanding then toss on rubber rocker guard. im going to do the whole bottom and rocker panels in a thick layer.

Well, good thing you're fixing it right away.... rust can get really bad if you fight it off right away.

well, this was on my agenda since i bought black betty god knows how long ago. I wanted a visor with clearance lights on it, but saw how expensive they were. i took my visor off my 91 and painted it to match my 94.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/my%20blue%20ford%20f150xl/DSCN5120.jpg

the paint came out pretty good, no blotching or marks, its smooth and shines, but chips easily. i picked up some LED clearance lights, 9.99$ each, took their plastic bases off and began to mount them http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/my%20blue%20ford%20f150xl/DSCN5122.jpg
since these lights were grounded through the white bases by a metal tab around the screw hole (yes, you can laugh there)i needed a new way to ground them. i dug around my lightbar parts and found metal tabs that are used to hold reflector mirrors in place. they fit perfectly. they make the contact from the tab at the bottom of the light to the screw which are wired together and ground on the visor mounting screw.

That's very cool, you saved up a lot of money by doing it yourself. Any engine modifications in the future?

Rich P
04-28-2008, 10:02 PM
there will be very little to no modifications to the engine. the truck was made to run the original way, if you modify it, eventually it will **** things up. its meant to be driven the way it came out of the factory. i was thinking a cold air intake, i heard it helps with fuel economy, but then that messes with teh air intake temperature sensor, and that messes with the mass air sensor, which will say its too cold, so the idle air control will allow more air in the motor, making it rev higher to warm up the engine, then it will idle at 2500rpm.

but right now, bodywork is my next expense, and probably front end work. i sunk the truck to the frame in mud, then o avoid getting stuck again, i nailed the gas (i got bald tires) and the bumper slammed into a huge dip, the bumper is messed up pretty bad, im not sure how the front end components did.
