Rally Master 11-16-2007, 09:54 PM Sweet looking Legacy right there. Which coilovers you got on that LGT?
Imprezzive 11-17-2007, 09:07 AM Sweet looking Legacy right there. Which coilovers you got on that LGT?
I got some Megan coilovers for about $1000. I was originally going to get slightly used Bilsteins from a spec.B with STI pinks.
Rally Master 11-17-2007, 12:51 PM Do the Megan ones feel much different from the Bilsteins in the Spec B?
I want some Tein coilovers...but I'm not talking about the BH in the garage...that's gonna be a dorm hauler for the most part. I want a used BE style Legacy GT or something...

The Megans feel better than the Bilsteins. My dad has an 07 spec.B and compared to my GT, there is noticeably less body roll as compared to the Bilsteins.
Linkin 11-17-2007, 07:42 PM Car looks very nice, looks like you detailed it well too. ;)
Robbie Hanson 11-17-2007, 09:36 PM Very nice car...nicer than 99% of the other cars here, really :P

Here are a couple of pics I found while cleaning my computer up:

I want one of these for Christmas ;)
Rally Master 11-22-2007, 09:59 PM Prodrive shift knob FTW!
I demand videos of the exhaust note.
osa_mah91 11-23-2007, 06:51 AM what is a Prodrive Shiftknob? hot car though Imprezzive :)
NFSRacingExpert 11-23-2007, 07:38 AM Omg!!! I Luv It!!!
Imprezzive 11-23-2007, 05:50 PM RM, the exhaust is the stock one so there's really no point unless it's a Prodrive exhaust. My bud has one of those on his STI and it sounds fantastic!
Anyway, thanks for the comments! It finally snowed here on Thursday and as you may know, Subaru + winter tires + snow = fun, but no pics :\
Watching my neighbor drive up his driveway in a FWD Civic reminds me why I bought a Subaru :P

Prodrive exhaust system would sound great. Too bad Prodrive America is closing its doors by the end of the year or so. :(
We got a bit of snow the other day (no accumulation but the ground got wet) and my parents were like "Son, stop driving so fast, it's slippery outside." Of course my reply was "Don't worry, we got Subaru all wheel drive." :D

Yeah, that is too bad. If not, I want to find the quad-tip exhaust from the Legacy Tuned By STI. I'm sure japanparts.com has it but I want to find some other sources.
I like that Subaru story; makes me smile :) However, I must warn you that even with the best AWD, you can still crash. That almost happened to me two weeks ago with the RE70's...
Rally Master 11-23-2007, 07:48 PM Yeah, I don't trust these 6 year old RE92s
Imprezzive 11-30-2007, 08:53 PM Brrr...cold...;)
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/DSC05189.jpg
Rally Master 11-30-2007, 10:28 PM Oooh...we haven't gotten much in terms of winter weather here yet...but I did start sliding in a roundabout when I was going only about 20 mph. The RE92s are due for a replacement. Got an all-season tire recommendation?
in this damn city we never see snow.
nice car btw. :)
Imprezzive 12-02-2007, 08:06 AM Snow + Freezing rain + Subaru = :D
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/IMG_1757.jpg
Thanks, Amir.
RM, I haven't used all-season tires since my 2.5RS, so I'm not too familiar with all-seasons as much as I was before.
Nikusakken 12-02-2007, 08:52 AM Nice car man !!! ;) Looks like it's very cold there. Here in Brazil, only see snow in the south (and I live in the Southeast :().

Imprezzive 12-15-2007, 08:09 PM It was snowing lightly all day and it started to really come down just an hour ago.

that looks like SO MUCH ****ING FUN...its a shame you dont have a video of the snow throwing :)

Rally Master 12-15-2007, 08:32 PM How do you prevent the snow from getting inside the hood scoop?
Imprezzive 12-15-2007, 09:02 PM How do you prevent the snow from getting inside the hood scoop?
I don't do anything because I haven't had any problems with water in the intercooler when it rained before, so I don't think snow would be any different.
Imprezzive 12-16-2007, 08:39 AM http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/legacy-snow2.jpg
Playing around with PS :)
Here's another pic from last night. It's really starting to pile up now and I have to clear the snow soon...
Rally Master 12-16-2007, 10:19 AM Yeah, I should start shoveling as well. I shoveled yesterday and my driveway ended up being used a turn around point in my neighborhood. Only clean driveway in the hood :D
NFSRacingExpert 12-16-2007, 10:44 AM Yeah, I should start shoveling as well. I shoveled yesterday and my driveway ended up being used a turn around point in my neighborhood. Only clean driveway in the hood :D
Set up a Toolbooth...:D
Imprezzive 12-16-2007, 06:31 PM Santa came early! I installed a Perrin TMIC!
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/perrin.jpg
I don't know the exact power/torque increase, but I've heard that it's about 10/10. I'll get it tuned once I buy a cold-air intake and exhaust. I'm also planning to buy a Subaru Genome grille and an STI lip, or maybe buying a JDM spec.B bumper.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/007-004.jpg
Subaru Genome grille, but if I buy it, it will be de-badged
MuscleCarFreak 12-16-2007, 07:09 PM I love the snow pics, and that grill your gonig to buy looks wiked.... Love the GT!
BTW, I want that Subaru Sig
Imprezzive 12-16-2007, 07:33 PM Thanks bud.
I'm using my laptop right now and the sig is on my PC. I'll send it as soon as I can.
MuscleCarFreak 12-16-2007, 08:37 PM Thanks bud.
I'm using my laptop right now and the sig is on my PC. I'll send it as soon as I can.
Cool.... will it say Baja instead of Legacy?
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 01:38 PM Here are some pics of the Megan Racing coilovers.

Killua 12-17-2007, 01:40 PM Looks like you had a lot of fun in the snow. I really like your car, dude.
Rally Master 12-17-2007, 01:47 PM Whoa! Seems like you did a lot of work on it in the past two days...I'm liking those coilovers :D
MuscleCarFreak 12-17-2007, 02:03 PM Very nice..... This car just gets better and better.....
Thats why it's going to be the first car of the month for the year 2008.
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 02:42 PM Very nice..... This car just gets better and better.....
Thats why it's going to be the first car of the month for the year 2008.
WOOT!! It just did :D
Since my Subaru dealer is very mod-friendly, I ordered a Megan Racing downpipe, twin exhaust tips from the Legacy STI, and if my mod budget isn't too tight, a Brembo GT BBK :D
With luck, they'll be on her soon. Oh man I'm so happy!!
Proposed power and torque numbers are now 270-280 HP and 270-280 lb-ft give or take but we'll know for sure once I actually get, install, and tune the parts.
Rally Master 12-17-2007, 03:55 PM Wanna sell those stock rims?
Now I seriously demand videos of exhaust in action :o
BTW, I'm sure the sl-i.net guys want to see this Leg :P
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 04:58 PM Add a Megan Racing cat-back exhaust to the mod list, courtesy of the real Emily! WOOT!!!
I will not be purchasing the Brembo BBK because they do not clear the stock wheels. Instead, I will be considering a StopTech BBK because they are less expensive and clear the stock wheels.
BTW, RM, I would sell the stock wheels to you but I'm using them for winter wheels.
Rally Master 12-17-2007, 06:07 PM :( I had a feeling you were using those for the winter. Oh well.
I've heard good things about StopTech brake parts...what kind of pads are you getting?
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 06:16 PM I haven't thoroughly researched them because I'm debating whether to buy them or not. If I do, it will be a whole kit which I assume includes pads.
http://www.stoptech.com/user/SearchResults.asp
It will be the black 4-pots with slotted rotors for the front and black 2-pots with slotted rotors for the rear.
Rally Master 12-17-2007, 06:48 PM 4-pot brakes give smoother braking from what I've been reading...is this true?
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 08:19 PM I sure hope they do!
Rally Master 12-17-2007, 08:20 PM So how much is all of this gonna cost?
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 08:38 PM About $1100, Canadian taxes included. My current mod budget is $1500.
MuscleCarFreak 12-17-2007, 08:38 PM Damn.... This makes me wanna redo my brakes.....
What do you think about installing the Legacy Spoiler to that beast of yours?
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 08:43 PM I had an OEM spoiler for about 2 weeks until my trunk was keyed...
I don't think I'll be installing one anytime soon because it does look better without one. If I do, I'll probably order a lip spoiler.
EDIT: I canceled that JDM STI muffler order from japanparts.com because the Megan cat-back exhaust already has twin-tips.
MuscleCarFreak 12-17-2007, 09:12 PM Ahh, I see.
Speaking of exhaust... I'll be getting my duals installed in the following Spring.
I know a place that custom designs exhaust systems, and they know me from where I had em do the exhaust on my Nova. It's only gonig to cost around 200 bucks.
Imprezzive 12-17-2007, 09:18 PM Cool. That's a good price considering it will be custom made. How much will the horsepower/torque increase be? The Megan system I ordered is good for 10/16 whp/wtq according to the Megan Racing site.

I really have no idea.... I figure not enough to see a difference.
I'm having them do a catback system... y-pipe right infront of the rear diff, and two turbo mufflers tucked up around both sides of the spare tire, and nice little chrome tips.
Something to give it a nice little edge, and sound without sounding loud and annoying.... just alil tone is all I want.... but mainly just looks is all I really want.
Rally Master 12-17-2007, 09:26 PM This thread makes me want summer to come so I can get started on a job and earn some dough for a BE. :(
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 09:31 AM Megan Racing cat-back exhaust! Not mine, but it will give you an idea on what it will look like on Emily.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/P1000552.jpg
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 09:49 AM This just gets better and better ;)
I just received a call from the place where I ordered the MR downpipe from, and they said that they had it in stock! Now I'm just headed out the door to pick it up and within a few hours it will be installed! YES!!!!!!
IIRC, the MR cat-back exhaust will be in stock on Friday.
Rally Master 12-18-2007, 09:59 AM Are you planning on changing the exhaust headers as well?
OMG, pics upon getting said part plz.
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 10:30 AM I'm baaack!
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/MRdpwnpipe.jpg
RM, exhaust headers are out of my price range right now. The ones I like are made by Perrin and they are $699.
TO THE GARAGE!!!!!!
MuscleCarFreak 12-18-2007, 10:39 AM ooh.... very nice.
cant wait to see your exhaust finished!
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 11:02 AM UPDATE: Stock downpipe off and now I'm beginning to install the MR downpipe.
Rally Master 12-18-2007, 11:21 AM lol holy shit. best project car everrrr
BTW, happy birthday!
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 11:58 AM Thanks, RM :)
Emily officially has a Megan Racing downpipe installed! I'll post some pics and maybe a sound clip when the cat-back exhaust is installed. The shop where it's being ordered from says it will be there by Friday.
Rally Master 12-18-2007, 12:38 PM Mmm...yummy...Say, what do you do in the dental office? (your occupation that is)
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 12:58 PM Mmm...yummy...Say, what do you do in the dental office? (your occupation that is)
I'm a second dentist. I simply work on patients the 'head dentist' can't see if s/he busy.
It's a great job but not my dream job...
Rally Master 12-18-2007, 01:08 PM That sounds decent. Can't always get what you want at first, but hey...you'll land that dream job someday I'm sure.
Imprezzive 12-18-2007, 01:20 PM I get a lot of vacation days. Christmas break is 3 weeks
My dream job is to be the VP of Product Planning for Subaru Canada, that way I could bring the Legacy and Forester STI and JDM goodness to Subarus across North America :P
(and maybe get a good discount off Legacy performance parts)
Rally Master 12-18-2007, 05:07 PM Mm....Forester STi. There's something about the boxiness of the car that I crave. Maybe it's the Impreza chassis that it's based on...
Imprezzive 12-19-2007, 09:23 AM http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/megandp.jpg
Here is a pic of the Megan downpipe I installed yesterday. I love it; it gives it a slight rumble at idle and I can't wait to hear it with the cat-back exhaust installed :)
After the cat-back exhaust is installed, I am considering some free mods - de-badging and clearing my headlights (removing the orange reflector).
Imprezzive 12-19-2007, 12:01 PM Went out for some more winter fun :D

Canada_Kid 12-19-2007, 12:38 PM Looks like fun. That's a really nice car you've got there. My sister and brother-in-law had a Impreza Wagon. That is really my only experience with Subarus. It was pretty nice, so I can imagine yours is even nicer.
Imprezzive 12-19-2007, 12:43 PM Thanks, it was very fun.
Impreza Wagon, eh? Those are really nice. With the right mods it could be one badass car.
Imprezzive 12-19-2007, 01:56 PM So I just received a call from the shop an hour ago. Turns out the cat-back exhaust is coming in a day early than scheduled, so Emily will get the cat-back installed tomorrow, not Friday.
BTW I'm getting an RBS lip for her tomorrow, too ;)
http://robot-racing.com/store/images/legacy_lip.jpg
Not mine but it gives you an idea.
Robbie Hanson 12-19-2007, 04:23 PM Congrats! Now, you know, we NEED a video of the new exhaust to let us drool over the sound :P
RedTwentyFour 12-19-2007, 05:58 PM http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/IMG_1752s.jpg

Imprezzive 12-19-2007, 06:00 PM WOOT!! 300th post!
Thanks, Rick. Sorry I didn't get a video again :\
Imprezzive 12-19-2007, 07:09 PM I found these gems while cleaning up my laptop:

Rally Master 12-20-2007, 12:22 PM That car...is hot. Extremely hot. Mmm...turbo....
Imprezzive 12-20-2007, 07:27 PM After one long and seemingly endless day, the Megan cat-back exhaust is finally installed.
This is by far the best exhaust I have ever seen/heard on a BL Legacy. It gives it a nice, deep rumble at idle and it sounds very menacing at acceleration. This exhaust does not attract the wrong attention but does turn the heads of other Subaru drivers ;) I actually had a Forester driver give me the thumbs up for once :P
I'll post install pics tomorrow and I'll try my best to get a sound clip :) I'll install the RBS lip tomorrow if I have time.
Rally Master 12-20-2007, 08:14 PM Ooh, can't wait to hear that exhaust.
Gankthis 12-21-2007, 08:22 AM Ooh, can't wait to hear that exhaust.
RM and me demand....
MOAR!111
Really nice Legacy, Imprezzive! :sweethear
I can't wait to do similar mods in my Impreza STi, though.
Imprezzive 12-21-2007, 08:28 AM Gankthis, you have an STI? Pics?
I've updated the first post with some unofficial power numbers.
Rally Master 12-21-2007, 10:27 AM Mmm...snap. 280 hp...That's about B4 levels! :o
Imprezzive 12-21-2007, 10:44 AM Here are some pics of the finished product:

And a sound clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eCS0b_YeFY&feature=related
Please note that the clip is not mine because the video feature on my camera is the worst one ever made. This is exhaust is identical to the one I have installed.
MuscleCarFreak 12-21-2007, 06:55 PM That is so sweat.......
I love you car!
Imprezzive 12-22-2007, 09:17 AM That is so sweat.......
I love you car!
Thanks :D
I just came back from Four Star Motorsports and Emily was finally tuned. They build cars for the Canadian Rally Championship and, in my opinion, the best dyno tuning on Ontario.
So, without further ado, here are the numbers (NOTE this is wheel horsepower and wheel torque):
Stock whp/wtq: 175/184
Tuned whp/wtq: 200/220
Here are the tuned power/torque numbers at the crank:
Stock hp/tq: 250/250
Tuned hp/tq: 275/286
Here's a breakdown of the parts (power/torque):
Perrin TMIC: 5/5
Megan Racing DP: 10/15
Megan Racing CBE: 10/16
Next, I want to buy an AVO cold-air intake and Perrin exhaust headers for her.
Special thanks to Four Star Motorsports for tuning Emily :)
Gankthis 12-22-2007, 10:08 AM Yeah, I have an STi. I almost got it totaled yesterday. Some idiot decided it was okay to do a U-turn on a one way street and the dude floored it, and almost hit me.
Lucky son of a ***** and his brakes.
I'll get pics when it snows :P
Rally Master 12-22-2007, 10:40 AM Yeah, I have an STi.
Pics or ban kthx. And don't be taking them from NASIOC. I'll eat you alive.
Imprezzive: Those are some good numbers. From what I remember, the EJ253 in my Legacy only gets about 111 hp to the wheels stock. :rolleyes5

Maybe if you read the rest of my post, you wouldn't look so thick.
I said pics when it SNOWS.

That's it? And I thought 175 whp was low :P
I have my eyes set on some ceramic-coated MR headers from my bud who is parting out his LGT. $350!
If not, I saw some lightly used Perrin headers for $325 for my LGT.
MuscleCarFreak 12-22-2007, 10:09 PM That power just seems so low because its distributed to all four tires.... over all.... Very good for an AWD.
Imprezzive 12-31-2007, 09:25 AM With some money from Christmas and my job, I have ordered myself a set of MR ceramic coated headers for $249. They'll arrive on Wednesday and will be installed the very next day. w00t!
Rally Master 01-01-2008, 08:52 AM Nice, a full exhaust overhaul. Boxer 4 rumble FTW.
So is the CAI the next step?
Imprezzive 01-01-2008, 09:28 AM Yes it is. I want to see if I can get either a Perrin or AEM CAI. If I can't, then I'll try to get my hands on a Cobb Access Port.
Imprezzive 01-02-2008, 10:18 AM So today FedEx left a big box at my door and it was the ceramic-coated MR headers I ordered.
Here's a pic:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/MRHeaders.jpg
This is going to be installed tomorrow.
Rally Master 01-02-2008, 11:51 AM Whoa. That's a big box. You're having a shop install it, I'm thinking?
Imprezzive 01-02-2008, 12:11 PM Yeah. My friend has a shop and he said he'll install it for free
Rally Master 01-02-2008, 05:12 PM GASP! Friends with benefits! FTW!
MuscleCarFreak 01-03-2008, 11:49 AM Wow... those headers are sweet!
I bet that thing will sound hot!
You just dont seem to stop on the mods for this car, do ya?
I want to see that grill, and front clip on her ASAP!
Imprezzive 01-03-2008, 05:46 PM MCF, I didn't buy the grille and lip yet because I'd rather focus on performance upgrades rather than visual upgrades at the moment.
Imprezzive 01-04-2008, 09:19 AM Four Star Motorsports has tuned my car again and without further ado, here are teh updated numbers:
The headers are good for 18/10 (power/torque)
WHP: 218
WTQ: 230
Here are the numbers at the crank:
HP: 293 HP
TQ: 296 lb/ft
Crank numbers are up to 2006 STI levels!
Next up, Cobb AccessPort.
Rally Master 01-04-2008, 09:58 AM This is turning out to be quite the project. A Legacy engine with the power levels of the 2.5L STi. Win. :D
Imprezzive 01-04-2008, 11:09 AM This is turning out to be quite the project. A Legacy engine with the power levels of the 2.5L STi. Win. :D
Oh yes!
It's official. My next mod will be an AccessPort. I found a good one for $400, but this will be the last mod for a while as I do need money for other things :\
EDIT: Maybe it won't be the last mod after all :P
I picked up a used SPT CAI for an irresistible $90. I had freed an extra $200, so with the remaining $110, I also picked up a 35 watt, 4500k Apexcone HID kit.
I have a problem; I'm addicted to this car!
Imprezzive 01-09-2008, 06:40 PM SPT CAI arrived today and the AccessPort is coming tomorrow.

Heat Shield:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/SPT-Heat-Shield.jpg
I'll get some pics of it installed tomorrow when the AP comes.
Imprezzive 01-11-2008, 06:39 PM Cobb AP came today. I used the stage 2 ECU map and that should up the crank horsepower and torque to 300 HP and 345 lb/ft, but I'm not sure about the numbers at the wheels. HP increase isn't much, but I do like the torque increase :D
As promised, here's a pic of the SPT cold-air intake:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/SPT-CAI.jpg
Killua 01-11-2008, 06:41 PM Don't you have a video camera somewhere? I would love to hear that beast. :D
Sick progress you have done on her.
Man, i wonder how much faster that extra torque makes it. Plus, looks pretty nice under the hood.
Rally Master 01-11-2008, 09:21 PM There is no doubt that CAI is hot.
Imprezzive 01-12-2008, 09:11 AM Don't you have a video camera somewhere? I would love to hear that beast. :D
Sick progress you have done on her.
Thanks, Killua, Unfortunately, I do not have a video camera, so a sound clip is out of the question.
Man, i wonder how much faster that extra torque makes it. Plus, looks pretty nice under the hood.
We'll see next week when I get her tuned...yet again.
There is no doubt that CAI is hot.
Thanks, bud. I like to think the cat-back is hotter :)
Anyway, it was a windy day here on Thursday, so I decided to take this picture of her. Best picture ever???
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/IMG_8880.jpg
hondaman 01-12-2008, 09:25 AM I would much rather have this than an STi! I have a thing for more subtle looking sedans. ;)
Honestly, I would not change how this car looks at all. All I would do is keep doing what you are already doing, add moar power. :)
Nice pic btw.

Nikusakken 01-12-2008, 11:51 AM lol ! I think that if someone give a car like this, I'll never sell.
Killua 01-12-2008, 02:00 PM That picture is similar to something I would find in a wallpapers site. It came out amazing.
Rally Master 01-12-2008, 06:27 PM I demand that photo in 1280x1024.
Driv3r 01-12-2008, 06:30 PM I demand that photo in 1280x1024.
+1, Amazing shot!
Nikusakken 01-12-2008, 07:23 PM What about 1600x1200 ?
Imprezzive 01-12-2008, 07:33 PM I demand that photo in 1280x1024.

What about 1600x1200 ?
Sorry fellas, I did not save the one with the original resolution :\
Anyway, I have successfully installed my Apexcone HID kit. Pics:

They are 4500k; there is a white with a very faint hint of blue tint to them.
Nikusakken 01-12-2008, 07:54 PM Really Great :D !
Imprezzive 01-12-2008, 08:00 PM Thank you, Nick! I don't understand the logic behind offering HID kits on the STi but not on the Legacy GT  I guess that's SOA/SCI for ya...
BTW, is your real name Nick? If it is, we share names!
Nikusakken 01-12-2008, 08:08 PM Nick: short for Nicholas.
Imprezzive 01-12-2008, 08:12 PM Ah, mine is spelled Nicolas; no 'h'.
Nikusakken 01-12-2008, 08:21 PM better, mines also don't have the "h", but I want add it. So In most websites, I use Nicholas instead of Nicolas.
Imprezzive 01-14-2008, 04:33 PM Alright, Emily was tuned today after work, so here are the numbers (whp/wtq):
Before: 218/230
After: 245/258
And here are the crank numbers:
Before: 293/296
After: 315/316
1st Gear and 2nd offers 12 psi, 3rd and 4th offers 14 psi, and 5th offers 15 psi. This car certainly feels much faster, and the numbers further justify the badassness.
I love Emily :smitten:
MuscleCarFreak 01-14-2008, 04:53 PM oh, those are some impressive numbers.
Id love to see it go side by side with an STi
Imprezzive 01-15-2008, 06:22 PM Forgot to tell you guys this, I washed and detailed on Saturday.

Imprezzive 01-20-2008, 05:19 PM So today I installed some new winter tires. They are 215/45R17 Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3. I blew one of my old winter tires (Michelin X-Ice) on a nail, so all of them had to be replaced.

I hate nails. We've had three of them in the RE92s and patched them up. Good thing we finally got new tires...
Texhnolith 01-21-2008, 05:38 AM i hate you for being able to get cheaper carparts and havingmore money to tune your ride.
Still a sweet ride.. once mine is stage 1 (engine/suspension) we should battle it out someday :P
your tires are small tho O_o.. just 215.. whats up with that.
BTW, what kinda camera did you use for those photos, and what settings. Those pics are awesome.
Need to do a new shoot of my ride with the new volks.
MuscleCarFreak 01-21-2008, 09:13 AM The tires on my Baja are 225s :D
That LGT just gets better and better.... keep it up, and you'll be chasing Chucky down!

Thanks! I have made friends at Subaru meets I attend and whenever they part their Legacies out, I tend to be the first one to buy the parts. That's why I get them for such low prices :P
I used Emily's camera for those pics. She loves taking photos and uses a Canon EOS 40D. I don't really know the settings she used right now, but I do know that she has one helluva camera!
BTW, got any pics of the Rays lug nuts? I want a set and want to see those close up.
Imprezzive 01-21-2008, 06:40 PM Check out post #1 for a pic of my old WRX!

Ask her what settings please ;) i got a 30D overhere (well my dad does) he thinks the pics are slightly photoshoped or she was using a grey-filter. We will be getting one of those soon.
Pics of the lugs are in my thread. towards the bottom. i could make a photo of em on my car later on. Pricey ****ers O_o
why'd you get rid of the old WRX? did you just prefer the Legacy more?
Rally Master 01-22-2008, 12:12 PM He got into an accident with said WRX from what the first post reads. Mmm...WRX. I must have a bug-eye now.

I will ask her the next time I see her. Your father is right, they were slightly photoshoped.
What I meant was a photo of the lug nuts mounted on the wheels. I saw the pic of them, but that pic didn't do much.
why'd you get rid of the old WRX? did you just prefer the Legacy more?
As RM said, I got into an accident. I was turning right when a woman preoccupied with applying makeup turned left and merged into my lane. She hit the front-left fender and tore the left headlight off, and pushed the left door in. The impact sent my car over a curb and disconnected 3 spokes from the wheel.
There was some suspension and frame damage, so rather than repairing my car I bought a new one. I bought Emily for $32k and my insurance reimbursed 35% of the purchase. In the end, I paid $20 800 before taxes.
Black+Subaru's handling+class+power of a V8...
man, that's one hell of a ride you've got right there. Truly deserves to be the ride of the month.
Imprezzive 02-10-2008, 09:11 AM Thanks, GTR. That's an interesting new name; but I keep on thinking its the Skyline GTR and not the Mustang GTR :)
Here's a shot of the gauges:

Thanks, I have more coming. I purchased a JDM 20MM rear sway-bar that should arrive within the next few days.
My suspension overhaul is done and the exhaust is next with an up-pipe of some sort. The exterior is remaining as-is ;)
Rally Master 02-14-2008, 08:32 AM Mm...sway bars. You should also get a front one because from what I heard, the handling gets really twitchy when you only do the RSB.
Imprezzive 02-15-2008, 09:45 PM Emily, now with 100% more rear sway-bar:

Imprezzive 03-13-2008, 12:23 PM I have ordered new brakes! The current OEM brakes need to be replaced and I thought I'd shell out some more money and buy:
1. StopTech front and rear slotted rotors (new)
2. Hawk HP+ front and rear brake pads (lightly used), and
3. StopTech stainless steel brake lines (new)
They should be here within the next few days.
I may get a new set of Tein Flex coilovers for an irresistible $600.
EDIT: I have purchased an STI front strut tower bar in addition to the brakes.
RedTwentyFour 03-13-2008, 01:30 PM you can has need piaa.
- Rick.
Imprezzive 03-13-2008, 01:37 PM We'll see, Rick. I think a turbo upgrade may be the next major modification, but that is still up in the air. New wheels may have to wait.
I'll probably work on the exterior now. Maybe a new grille, front lip, or a JDM Legacy spec.B bumper. We'll see.
Imprezzive 03-15-2008, 08:46 AM I can has new brakes!
My new slotted StopTech brake rotors, Hawk HP+ brake pads, and stainless steel StopTech brake lines came last night, so I decided to install them this morning.
Hawk HP+ brake pads:

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/slotted2.jpg
I'm still waiting for the STI strut tower brace.
Speed911 03-15-2008, 09:08 AM Very nice Imprezzive, looks like those rotors in the 2nd pic are barely fittin' in those rims. How noticeable is the difference?
Imprezzive 03-15-2008, 09:35 AM I've just come back from a quick test drive and a stopping test in a vacant parking lot. I must say there is a significant difference in the distance it takes to stop. The squeal that the old brakes made is gone, but that would have been gone anyway with any brake replacement. The Hawk HP+ fit the stock calipers, so I didn't have to get new calipers. Despite the fact that they are slightly used, they still have plenty of life in them and work well with the slotted rotors.
Imprezzive 03-21-2008, 09:30 AM So, my STI strut tower bar arrived and was installed yesterday. Here are some pics:

Imprezzive 03-29-2008, 12:37 PM You...have obtained CE28s?
That is right! RM can has a cookie for getting the right answer.
I picked up a set of used 18x8.5 Volk CE28. They are immaculate but one of the wheels has a little bit of curb rash. They also came with 225/40/ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires, but they have about 20% of the tread left. I plan on replacing them with 225/40/ZR18 Falken FK-452s.
Tire tread:

Barely noticeable curb rash:

The wheel itself:

Killua 03-29-2008, 01:11 PM You got them in the best color combo possible! I can't wait to see those beautiful rims on your Legacy.

Imprezzive 04-01-2008, 04:30 PM Tires were installed a couple of hours ago! Instead of Falkens, I got a set of 225/40/R18 Kumho Ecsta AST tires, some new lug nuts, and free Volk Racing stickerz! Also, I got new headlights because the old ones sprung a leak, and a trunk swap. So, without further ado, here are the pictars!

Texhnolith 04-24-2008, 03:05 AM Man could you send over you GF to me? I need me some better photos myself.
if only my wife knew how to take photos like that... hell, not even i can
MuscleCarFreak 05-02-2008, 10:46 AM Damn...
I've been gone for 2 months, and I come back to this....
By far the coolest Legacy I've ever seen.... And I'm happy to find that you reinstalled your spoiler....
Imprezzive 06-20-2008, 12:38 PM Ah, it's been a while since I posted in this thread.
After much lurking on various Subaru forums, I discovered that Cobb makes sport mufflers for the Legacy GT.
http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=2437
These bolt right onto the Y-pipe, and compared to the current Megan mufflers, the Cobb ones seem like they bolt right onto the Megan Y-pipe. Once I figured that out I knew I had to have them for a more OEM-look. They are pretty much identical to the stock mufflers, which is great because I want to keep the sleeper look. Don't get me wrong, the Megan mufflers look great, but I want a change. $650 down the drain :P
Also, autocross season is coming up and I am in the market for better tires and wheels. Currently, I'm looking into a set of either Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1s, Falken FK-452s, or Toyo Proxes T1Rs. Wheels will be SSR GT2s if I can find a set. If not, then OZ Ultraleggras or another set of the stock Legacy wheels. There's now way in hell I'm take the Volks autocrossing!
For a reference:
SSR GT2 (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=SSR&wheelModel=GT2&wheelFinish=Silver+Painted)
OZ Ultraleggra (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=O.Z.&wheelModel=Ultraleggera&wheelFinish=Bright+Silver+Paint)
You know what the stock Legacy wheels look like...
Rally Master 06-20-2008, 01:04 PM Sorry but...if you're just changing parts on the car because you want it to look slightly different, you're retarded. $650 is a lot of money...And you spent it on...MUFFLERS?!
Get cheap and used Rotas for autoX.

Scratch the $650...Talked to my friend today (the same one who installed the headers for me), and he says he can get his hands on them for $325. He says they'll be at his shop in two days.
As for Rotas, I'm not leaving those out. I'm looking at either Torques, Tarmac 3s, or SVNs.
KV12supercharged 06-21-2008, 01:07 AM Beautiful car! It looks like a Stealth Fighter in the dark any you also got some nice mods under the hood as well!
Where do you find interesting places for photos in Toronto? Your photography is amazing!! :2thumbsup

Thanks for the kind comments! The areas that I prefer for pics are Riverdale, the Distillery District, Leslieville, and Leaside.
Mr. Sting Ray 06-21-2008, 09:21 PM Excellent photography Imprezzive.
Revolution 06-22-2008, 10:10 PM I've been reading through this thread and its been bothering me as to why your Legacy looks slightly different to how they look here in Australia. I assumed that it was due to the big amber indicators in the headlights, but it suddenly hit me just now, you've got a different front bumper with a much more prominent front bit, due to front impact regulations or something... I've seen the same differences on USDM and AUDM Lancers on a couple of Lancer forums I visit. So yeah, the Legacy they sold here (its actually badged a Liberty here, for unknown reasons~) had the slightly different bumper. Oh, and the clear headlights with no amber.

^ AUDM Liberty GT
Great car though, I can appreciate all the work you're putting into it, although I must say it'd look better without that spoiler. :P
Rally Master 06-22-2008, 10:41 PM It's badged as a Liberty in Australia and not as a Legacy because Subaru didn't want to infringe on the copyrights of the Legacy Australia, which is an organization that supports veterans and their families.
The reason we get different bumpers here in North America is likely due to the fact that people here can't drive worth a damn and they all drive big *** SUVs (which now can't sell and should be reduced to scrap metal). The plants are also different. All the Legacies, Outbacks and Tribecas in US and Canada are made by Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, IN, where I have to drive by every time I return to or leave campus.
Revolution 06-22-2008, 11:34 PM Mm, I figured it would be down to some sort of naming infringement like that.
Wikipedia tells me that Libertys are only built in that American plant you mentioned and in Japan, logic dictates that we get the Japanese ones here.
Would it be legal to import and use the front with the less prominent bumper (ie, the non USDM one, as pictured above) in America? Simply because in my eyes its quite a bit sleeker looking and nicer.
Imprezzive 06-23-2008, 10:33 AM Would it be legal to import and use the front with the less prominent bumper (ie, the non USDM one, as pictured above) in America? Simply because in my eyes its quite a bit sleeker looking and nicer.
Yes, it is legal to import and use JDM Legacy bumpers, as long as you install the JDM Legacy bumper beams. JDM and USDM bumper beams are different. Its the same with the 2008 Legacies. The bumpers appear similar, but they are in fact different in addition to the grilles. One of my Legacy friends installed the JDM Legacy spec.B bumper on their Legacy, and it looks fantastic. As for the headlights, I think headlights in Canada and the US are required to have amber reflectors, but the reflectors can be easily taken out. Once again, my friend who has the spec.B bumper took out the amber reflectors (the process is called 'clearing') from his headlights three years ago and hasn't received a ticket yet.
As for the spoiler, I'm getting my wingless trunk back soon, and decided to take the plunge and clear/paint my headlights. Also, I have ordered a new JDM Legacy sport grille and front lip; both pieces for $200 combined. Normally, the sport grille and lip would retail for $170 and $230 respectively.
Imprezzive 06-24-2008, 01:17 PM Well, I have received my AutoX wheels. They're from a friend who no longer needs them, so I decided to take them off his hands for $400.
The wheels are 18x8.0 SSR GT2s mounted on nearly-bald Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires. New tires are a toss-up between a set of Dunlop Direzza DZ101s with 3k miles on them for $300 or a set of Falken Ziex 512s with 100 miles on them for $375. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Falkens..

BTW, my first AutoX in the Legacy is on Saturday. I can't wait!
TriniGT 06-24-2008, 03:51 PM Sweet wheels man. Hope you have a blast this Saturday!
Marra90 06-25-2008, 05:38 AM omg your goina go do an auto cross lmfao!
be careful, dont scratch her
Imprezzive 06-25-2008, 06:22 PM omg your goina go do an auto cross lmfao!
be careful, dont scratch her
Oh, don't worry. I won't scratch her. :P FYI, she already has a nasty ding on the passenger-side door from an inconsiderate jerk and their shopping cart...
Back on topic, I have decided to go for the Dunlop Direzza DZ101s. Even though they have more miles on them, they are a better choice performance-wise, compared to the Falkens. I have also acquired RalliTek front and rear sway bars. I'll get those installed while the SSR GT2s are mounted on the Direzzas.
I have taken the WRX and the 2.5RS autocrossing numerous times in the past. I can't wait to see how Emily will treat me around the autocross track, especially with the Megan coilovers, the new sway bars, and the new tires.
Imprezzive 06-26-2008, 06:56 AM Well, I picked up the new Dunlop Direzza DZ101s this morning:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/Direzza.jpg
And the 22MM RalliTEK front sway-bar (the rear should be here tomorrow) :
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/RalliTEKFrontSwayBar.jpg
Imprezzive 06-28-2008, 06:12 PM I had a blast today with Emily! She was very impressive.
First, the new goodies. Here is a pic of the RalliTEK 19MM and the previous JDM 20MM rear sway-bar, which was installed yesterday along with the front sway-bar:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/RalliTEKRearSwayBar.jpg
The Cobb mufflers were installed as well, but I was quite exhausted after installing the sway-bars and mounting the new wheels/tires.
Next, the pics from today:

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/AutoX-3.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/AutoX-4.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/AutoX-5.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/AutoX-6.jpg
I managed 1:05:52 on my first run as a result of a time penalty (see the first pic >_>) and 1:03:46 on my second run. At the end of the day, I placed 3rd, behind a BMW 335 coupe and a Legacy GT wagon.
The Dunlops kept her glued to the tarmac, and the Megan coilovers and RalliTEK front/rear sway-bar combination made her responsive through the corners. She was excellent in the straight sections of the course, but not the best. Overall, I am impressed with her performance today and I would defiantly take her autocrossing again!
Damn son. Nice new pics.

Rally Master 06-28-2008, 11:40 PM ZOMG at tripodding the LEGASHY
Pretty cool. Might wanna close them windows though to minimize drag. :P
Nikusakken 06-29-2008, 04:08 PM Hey nice pics man.
Hmmm I see a bright future in racing industry for you Imprezzive :P
Sweet ride by the way. And is your girlfriend a pro photographer? It sure looks like it to me.
Imprezzive 07-24-2008, 01:04 PM Thank you for the comments, and I do hope to attend a few more AutoX events in the future.
Anyway, I have acquired a new visual part: a body-coloured mesh grille for $100.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/nick_bond_007/Grille1.jpg
I plan on taking the Subaru logo off to add to the sleeper look. This will go on this weekend along with a front lip that has been gathering dust in the garage. Photoshoot coming soon!
Rally Master 07-24-2008, 01:12 PM I think you should keep the badge. I hate people that debadge their cars. Sorry.
Imprezzive 07-24-2008, 01:14 PM Believe me, after seeing it installed on my friend's Legacy, the badge looks too small and out-of-place.
Driv3r 07-24-2008, 01:43 PM Congrats on the autocross time! I agree with you Imp, I think it'll look better de-badged as well.
+1 for the de-badge, would make it look very sleek
Imprezzive 07-24-2008, 05:40 PM Here is a comparison between a Legacy with a mesh grille and a badge, and a mesh grille without a badge:
Badge:
http://i9.tinypic.com/2j4vm7n.jpg
No badge:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/hellnightkid/IMG_2908.jpg
No badge FTW. Plus, it probably improves air flow to the radiator slightly. :P
no badge, easily. makes it look like a stealth bomber :P
Rally Master 07-25-2008, 01:06 PM I'll still take the badge because otherwise it looks like it's missing something thar.
TwinTurboGTR 07-25-2008, 01:50 PM Without the badge, it can easily be mistaken for a civic IMO. Even better for that sleeper look.
Imprezzive, those are some sick pics. Nice racing as well!
Imprezzive 07-25-2008, 02:28 PM Thank you for the comments, TwinTurboGTR! And I would never want my car to be mistaken as a Civic, but she would easily smoke one :P
I might just put the chrome 'GT' badge from the trunk on the mesh. I think I still have it somewhere...
Imprezzive 08-05-2008, 06:43 PM So after a few weeks of moving and painting, I finally got some time to spend with Emily. Both front lip and grille have been installed, so I washed her and went out for pics yesterday. Too bad it rained today :( I also got my good ol' wingless trunk back and debadged it except for the Pleiads logo.

Anyways, she looks amazing! (First photo is awesome BTW)

Winnar! 100 internets for you.
Rally Master 08-05-2008, 07:04 PM No doubt a nice looking car but I still liked it better when it looked stock.
edlemur 08-05-2008, 07:31 PM No doubt a nice looking car but I still liked it better when it looked stock.
I just miss the grille and badges. Everything else is a step forward.
MuscleCarFreak 08-05-2008, 07:34 PM make up your mind with the spoiler, dude.
you make me sad to see it gone, again.
Bl0cks 08-05-2008, 09:09 PM must not fap...
just place a badge on your side mirror and Im sure you p*** someone off
Imprezzive 08-06-2008, 07:46 AM Frankly, I'm still warming up to the grille myself. As for the lip, its staying on until it gets smashed in the winter and get a JDM Legacy spec.B bumper conversion :P
I am in fact considering a lip spoiler.

D) http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/vwsplit2/Leggys050.jpg :P
E) Install stock spoiler.
I don't want to do any drilling into the trunk lid, which is the case of B and E, but I just love B. All of the others can be simply stuck on. D is just in it for shits and giggles.
Lets hear it NFSCars!
Rally Master 08-06-2008, 07:50 AM I demand a poll, Mister Nick.
My vote goes to either C or E. Because stock is better.
C is full of epic win, D looks too much ricer'ish :\
Yeah definitely C.
If you didn't go with C go for B. Avoid D at any cost. :P
edlemur 08-06-2008, 08:03 AM C is full of epic win, D looks too much ricer'ish :\
D is just in it for shits and giggles.
shits n giggles
A or C.
Everything else is either so-so (imo), or you need to drill the trunk.
Well...maybe the stock one would be an exception for the latter.
dayum you people.
I think C looks horrible. Get B darnit.
