Make: Chevrolet
Car: Caprice Classic
Engine: 5.0L V8
Horsepower: 160HP

its in pretty bad condition exterior wise (lots of dents etc.) but the engine is perfect, just a little work in the transmission is needed. and the Air Conditioner is not working at the moment :( (dont ask me how i drive in 40 C temperature :S )

very pointless.

anyhoo, dents and scratches on a car like that is absolutly nothing but character! i would drive that car with pride any day. im a huge caprice fan, i would love that car more if it had the red interior!

That motor is basically setup from the mid 80s with a fuel injection setup thrown on it. Nothing special, just one fuel injector.

Nice caprice...we sent a few thousand Denalis and whatnot over there to ya lol

For a car that's a daily dirver AND 15 years old- it's in good shape! I love caprices as well, especially LT-1's those are FAST!!!!! It's a shame chevy dropped the line, the caprice is a winner in my book, and in a lot of other peoples (cops say it was the best car they ever used!)

its tbi should be 170hp @ 4000 rpm and 255 lbft of torque at 2400 rpm
its the same engine my camaro came with it was slow in my car but great on gas but your car is also around 1000 lbs more then mine so i can think about how slow yours must be

get an open element airfilter some headers and the flowmaster exhaust
should get you around 200 hp and 275 tq may not sound like alot but the 350 tbis only put out 200hp and 300tq you can also put a high rise intake with tbi adapter should get you some nice gains as well as better fuel mileage as the more power the engine makes the less fuel it will take to pull that car

tbi can be compared to a 600cfm 2 barrel carb but has a much broader powerband as the ecm can adjust for the full rpm range where as a carb is set normaly only to make max power up top so you get nice peaks and higher numbers but fuel injection on the same engine will still end up being the faster car

my freind has a lt1 roadmaster wagon we put headers and full exhaust
cold air intake and man for a 4300lb car it can move 15.4 @ 92mph

Thanks Schaefft, i wouldn't be having this car if it wasn't for Saudi Arabia as the fuel is really cheap over here :)

what in the hell just happened to my car? :/

i heared a massive explosion last night and found my car like this in the driveway :\ whats wrong with it?

Robbie Hanson

Considering I can't see under it, I'd guess that one or both of the front A-arms snapped? :goofy:

GTR

Something underneath is probably broken as a result of all the rust.

It's interesting that V8s just happen to be awesome enough to still be beard with even when they are in the worst possible conditions.

Edit: Wait a minute, is that blue car behind yours another Caprice?

@Rob: only the right tire is all bent like that so i'm guessing one A-arm got jacked :/

@GTR: yeah that's my neighbor's '92 Caprice...mine is '91 :D

@XenTek: not at all :P

@Imprezzive: definately mate, i just can't get my head round a particular car, i've never owned any asian car before and i dunno what to go for :/

You lower ball joint broke. Same thing happened to me.

****, poor Caprice. You should invest some more time and money to get it into some better condition, Caprices deserve that. <.<

Damn, I would never treat my car like that, especially not the number 1 under my favorites, lol.

Awwwr, it hurts so much...

so whats your plan or hows it going with the caprice?

Zpectre

Considering the current state of the car he'd be better off getting another Caprice.

osa_mah91
05-25-2009, 12:02 AM
@MCF: its not a tool for me, i love this car, but im too damn busy with work and exams that i don't even get to go near the car these days, let alone fixing it.

@EVO: i got the broken arm and the suspension springs replaced, the car is working pretty good atm, im giving it for a full bodywork and repainting job in a month probably...

@Zpectre: no way mate, the car is perfectly fine under the hood, just need to replace the seals to avoid some oil leakage im getting atm, other than that, its just the exterior thats putting you off :)

Great to hear that, cant wait to see some more pics of that beauty. Just keep it stock, dont start with crap like donk and ultra bling bling on every inch of that car, just ruins the look of it. I have no problem with changing the performance and handling tho, you could make it to an ultimate sleeper :D

Since it has been given a new lease on life, it needs a black paint job and Impala SS wheels.

As a guy who never owned anything but Chevy, I second this notion.

Yup, pretty much.

This is a conversion I did a while ago:

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd4/amirgtr/Caprice_Contest_fall.jpg

All I did was change the grill, rims, color and add some badges.

Schaefft
05-28-2009, 04:14 AM
Yeah, a caprice ss. :D there are a couple of those, but dont change the grill, chrome looks way cooler.

Oh no, I prefer the SS grille! Goes well with the sporty theme. Then again I also don't like the 91 Caprice as much.

Actually I don't like the late full-size American cars themselves, they look horribly bland and outdated and it's hard to make that Caprice rear look nice (one of the worst rear designs to ever come from GM IMO). But it's a matter of taste really and I reckon it'd be quite fun to work on a car like this.
