Yeah, I got off my lazy *** and made the thread.....

Got her in October of last year off a Ford dealership lot, bone stock with a hardtop and wheels from a 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sahara (The "Luxury" package of Wranglers). She was owned by an old couple who towed it behind their RV on road trips, never saw mud or even used the 4wd, and had less than 100k miles on her. Since then I've gotten:

Bestop Supertop Soft Top (Replaced with Black OEM Top)
Front SRC Front Bumper
Body Armor bumper and tire carrier
Warn XD9000i Winch
33 x 12.50" BFG All Terrains
15 x 8" Steel Wheels
1 set of 150 watt KC Spotlights
1 set of 100 watt KC Foglights
Black headlight rings
Light guards all the way around
Sony GTX-410U Headunit
Polk Audio 6.5" Speakers
Pioneer 4" x 6" Speakers
JL Audio 13.5" subwoofer powered by a Kick ZX750.1
New fender flares (Due to wreck)
New front end (Due to wreck)
Warrior Diamond Plate corner armor
Offroad Only Litedots

Why thanks you Sin :) Me and my friends actually sit on it while we ride down the road, it's pretty fun... I don't really care for it though. It's really long and comes out pretty far. It's pretty annoying both on and offroad...

Well, I had planned on having 5 33 x 12.50" Trxus M/T's and 5 15 x 10 Cragar Soft 8's and a 3" lift. But, with having to buy presents and having to pay my father 300 for a boo-boo I made on someone's car while pulling into a bank, I was a little short... So it'll have to wait another couple months :(

do you have any lockers of any kind on your jeep?

Speed911

No, I have a Dana 35 in the back, don't really want to risk putting a locker on that, and I don't really see any need in putting one on the front.

I just realized I never posted the pictures of the Heep flexing. The sway bars are connected, so it's not flexing as much as it could...

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/5978/camp028bp5.jpg

http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/4448/camp030xw5.jpg

and then of course, the burnout.
http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/5262/camp031cp8.jpg

also changed the name to "The Heep" it's just a nickname that we Jeepers call our Jeeps for the hell of it, because my mean green is definitely green, but not so mean...

Killua

In the picture of the burnout (which is awesome BTW) I see that both doors are open more than 90 degrees. Is that on every Jeep? (Excuse my ignorance).

Intentional misspell? (Heap vs. Heep)

Wranglers have removeable doors, so one of the things you can disconnect is the door-stop straps...

Intentional misspell? (Heap vs. Heep)

Yep, kind of a mix of "Jeep" and "heap" thus creating "Heep."

And you are right about the doors, lift up on that strap, and the doors open all the way until it hits the fenders. Take out 2 bolts and lift up, and then no doors!

I really like the first photo, the wash you did and the background give it a nice look. I'm looking forward for that lift kit, is it going to be a little difference?

Speed911
03-07-2008, 06:31 PM
It's a 2.5" lift. It's not extremely noticeable, but it does make a difference, offroad especially. When my tires are worn more, I'm going to get another 1" BL, giving it 3.5" of lift in all, and then I'll run 33 x 12.50 Tires. Not really sure on what tires though, I'm probably going to go for the BFGoodrich All Terrain, or the Trxus Mud Terrain, the M/T's are cheaper and look totally badass but the tread life is shorter, as it's an M/T. But oh well. Next weekend i'm headed to Summit Racing to check out their wall of wheels. I'm really considering the Pro Comp 8179's (the same thing on Sinister's Dodge). But that'll come later down the road.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't mean to do that...

Speed911
03-15-2008, 09:59 AM
Well, finally got my lift. Bought the coil spacers used, and then bought the shocks new, finally got them after being back ordered. So, I set off to my friend's house Wed. morning to go install it with him, to find out i had a dead battery... Whoops. So, got 'er hauled out with this here tractor and set off for a new adventure.

No finished pics.

Yesterday, went down some trails near my work, first time i been there in a couple months. I was extremely pissed to find that there were boxes and boxes of clothes all thrown about. God I hate **** like that. There's a Goodwill store ONE mile from there, where they can drop it off, and donate it, and there's donation bins all over the county, but instead someone decides to dump it everywhere. I'm going to go back there sometime this weekend to pick it up.

Taking a look at the flex, i didn't disconnect my sway bars though, so I couldn't get all the flex out of the front... I didn't have my good camera, so I did the best I could with the crappy lil camera I had during the low light, and did my best with photoshop. You can see some of the clothes in these pictures.

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6484/jeeplift012du2.jpg

http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/8347/jeeplift013zr0.jpg

It's hard to tell, but i've gotta tote on my driver's side tire, it's not touching the ground.

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6171/jeeplift015tk5.jpg

I'll get some better pictures on another day when it's better weather. So my next adventure will be wheels and tires. I'm wanting 32 x 11.50" BFG A/T KO's and some Sim locks only if I can find a deal on them somewhere, if not, I'm going with Soft 8's.

Thanks for lookin' y'all!

That's great! I saved all of those pictures.

And BTW, yesterday I saw a Jeep with VERY wide tires, black wheels and tinted windows (It was low though); would you like to have yours like that? Just curious...

Speed911
03-16-2008, 03:57 PM
Thank Killua. That Jeep's tires were probably mounted on a 15 x 10" wheel, versus a 15 x 8". Which makes the tire come outside the fender flare further. Also, his tires were probably too big for his lift, if there was any at all. Mine will stick out, not by much though.

Here's more pictures I took today, since it was nice.

heh, just to give you guys an idea of how bald my stock 30 x 9.50" tires are, I was backing up a slight incline at my friend's house to get out of his driveway so his sister could go somewhere, the back tires came to a root, not taller than 3" high. Damn things could get enough traction to go over a 3" high root in the ground o_O. Fortunately wheels are on the way, and as soon as I get them, the tires are going on. My dad surprised me last night when we were talking about wheels, he got Cragar Series 352's which are a simulated beadlock wheel, they're being shipped to the house, instead of the Soft 8's *about 3x cheaper* because he heard me talking to one of my friends about them, and how much I wanted them, but I couldn't afford it after having to buy tires. So, he decided to help me out. :D Can't wait to see them. He said he ordered them before they left for the beach on tuesday, so they're bound to be here this week. As far as tires go, I'm really pushing for a 32 x 11.50" BFG All Terrain K/O, but that could change at anytime depending on prices.

my freelander would be a machine offroad if i lifted it, but then it would mess up the onroad handleing, and since its my dailydriver it would be impractical!
Really like your jeep tho, its done tastefully, unlike what other people do :)

Anyways, here's some pictures I got today with my friend, he's actually the one that helped me put my lift on. He's got a 2" lift with 33 x 12.50" Courser M/T's, wrapped on 15 x 8" rims, Warn front and rear bumpers (wish I had gotten that instead), Warn lights, Warn M8000 winch, and a sound system that'll blow your mind.

So, about 2 hours ago, I was headed home coming up a hill, at the top of the hill is a 3 way intersection, with only one stop sign from the entering side, looks kinda like this:

-|

I there was an ancient ford pulling out from the left, and pulled out right in front of me, I had just put my foot on the brake and BOOM, right into his side at an angle, I kinda bounced to the trees. I'm still in shock over the whole thing and trembling. Got her towed to the house, it makes me sick to the stomach to see it all mangled and broken. One of the worst days in my life. :( I had my seat belt on thank god. If i didn't, I'm not sure i'd be here.

Probably a bumper that has a tire carrier to hold the fullsize spare. I don't want to put that spare on there for very long, it'll bend the hinges after about a year. However, I'd like my gears to get done. I have 3.07's right now, and I really notice the lack of power and my gas mileage has dropped pretty bad.

After some cutting, measuring, flipping and lowering of bumpers, raising lights, and lots of hassle, I finally got the 33" spare mounted. It's only a temp. solution until I can get a tire carrier to take all that weight off the tailgate and onto the frame.

to save you from getting pissed off. Take off the original fake beadlocks on the rims and replace them with stainless steel. Thanks for the advice Dan, however I'm not sure whether that piece can come off or not. I'll have to look, but I'm almost positive it's all one piece. And I'm sure your steelies started rusting ebcause of those harsh north winters and the salt put on the road, down here in GA, we don't use that too often ;) I still wish I had gone with alloy though :(

Put my new summer top on. Just a translucent top that covers the front half. I needed something that kept me shady in the heat, but not be completely opaque like my whole top. So this worked out nicely. Got some Offroad Only Lite Dots. They're small, 4" LED lights, and they're only an inch thick. When they're off, they're completely black. Which would go nicely with my new Warrior black diamond plate corner guards. They'll both be going on this weekend. Best part is. I got the corners used, half price, and they look fine, and the Lite Dots are brand new and was $50 cheaper than new... Gotta love a good deal.

I really don't like Wranglers or Jeeps come to that, drive them on a daily basis at work and think they're awful, on the road at least, I imagine they are brilliant off road though.

This Wrangler though looks utterly amazing I've never seen one like it and I have to say this is the 1st Jeep I can honestly say I do like.

Wow, thank you Jon, that was a great comment.

AS for the Jeep goes, I haven't really had time to work on it a whole lot, despite how much shit I want for it, I just haven't had the time to get shit done to it with workin 40+ hours and week and partying all weekend. However, today I did drop it off at the local 4wd differential shop to get some 4.10's put in my axles. Driving with those 33x12.50's with 3.07 ring and pinion ratios was absolute crap. I got real tired of having to floor it to get up a hill, and losing a lot more gas mileage, I was getting 10-12mpg with 3.07's. All that's about to change. Unfortunately I can't take pictures of something like that, so I'll post up some refresher pictures this weekend :)

Went to the drag races this weekend. Was a beautiful day, so I threw the bikini top on, and took the doors off for the first time. Was definitely awesome. Much more of a free, breezy, relaxing drive than with them. :)

Also, the new 4.10 gears are GREAT! I don't have to floor that little straight six to go up hills anymore. I don't have to put so much gas to start going anywhere. It's just great to drive with that power back. Also, put my engine's rpm's higher, to where it's around 2500 rpm's @ 60 mph, which is right in the middle of the I6's most efficient power band, which means better mpg again. Also using less throttle to get anywhere, less throttle = more efficient, so hopefully I won't be filling up every 5 days :)

Long story short, holy shit the tires and axle gearing made a HUGE difference offroad. It pulls through shit a lot easier now than what it did before.

It's been too fawking cold to wash my jeep. Been outside doing my front and rear brakes, changing all my fluids and getting ready for Winter... Oh and mounting a Warn XD9000i, Got it with an even trade by trading my hardtop. Came with everything I need, plate, fairlead, wiring, etc. Not bad considering my hardtop was worth $600, Winch is worth $1300, plate is worth $250, fairlead is $50, plus shipping costs for ~120lbs of stuff. So I came out way on top. I just actually have to finish it. Mount the fairlead, finish wiring, couple other things. I don't care for the cold, so I quit for today and snapped a few pics.

GTR...you mean the 9" swap for Camaros and stuff.

The 8.8 is indestructible on a bolt-on Jeep, I had no problem with mine and you've seen some of the pictures of stuff I put my truck thru when I had it.

Speed911

Kinda wish I had gone 9". I had the opportunity to have one for free. But, I didn't have time to be doing all that work with regearing, cutting the tubes and shafts down, and everything else it takes. It's a lot harder to get the 9" to work. But, this'll be good enough, they're close to the same strength in stock form.I should be done with it soon, like possibly today soon.
