I was never completely pleased with the Hella Xenon Bulbs since the day I bought em.
And did not last long at all.... After about 2 months, my Driver side headlight bulb bit the dust, and it pissed me off. This car seems to go through more bulbs than any other car I have ever driven.
So I desided that I was gonig to replace all my bulbs.
After replacing all of em, I was really surprised to find out that Hella Bulbs actually suck.

I replaced my upper and lower Foglight bulbs with Silvania Silverstars.
My Headlights are now equipped with Silvania Silverstar Ultras.

These bulbs are well worth the 130 bucks. (40 bucks for Silverstars/ 50 bucks for Silverstar Ultras.)

!WARNING!
These pics were taken with my Camera Phone, so there's alot of noise.

After owning it for 2 years, I just found out a few days ago, that my Baja actually calls for 91 octane....

I always put unleaded in it because it's just a 4 banger, and figured it has no need for a higher grade fuel.
This may be why my engine always seemed to be somewhat noisey (valves). I was afraid that maybe I was gonig to have future problems as a result.
The check engine light even came on a few times. Had it tested, and found out it was a bad O2 senser.

Well, after finding out that my car does indeed, call for 91 octane, I started putting that in.
Engine noise has stopped, and it no longer seems to have acceleration problems.

before, the car just acted like a turd when you floor it. And after running it hard on the interstaet a few times, cleaning out the O2 senser, my ckeck engine light doesnt come on anymore, and it kept me from spending 130 bucks on a new O2.
And now the car seems to have plenty of power now.
Which is almost unbelievible, because I just didn't see gas making that much of a difference, unless you actaully had a performance engine that needs it.... Never considered Subaru's stock 165 horsepower 2.5 to be a performance engine. but it does seem to need it...lol

Only bad thing about it is, filling up a 16.9 gallon gas tank with unleaded was only about 32 bucks, roughly.
Just filled it up completely with 91 octane lastnight, and shook in fear as I paid 38 bucks.... Which still isnt bad at all.... Just not what I'm used to throwing in, is all.

Whoa shit! Big WTF flag here...I think I might do this for my EJ253 when we fill up next time. I've always felt there was lag in the throttle response. I figured it was more an issue with the drive-by-wire system and never thought it was craving a richer mixture of gasoline.

Say MCF, what kind of spark plugs are you running? I'm considering just forking out 30 bucks for some new NGK Iridium IX (BKR6EIX-11) plugs on the Dorm Hauler.

My Baja is made for Snow-Drifting... You can look at the rims in the last night shot and can tell I was doing some right before I parked it.

I should have had someone take a pic when I was donig that, but I didn't.

I didn't get the new exhaust done yet. I'm gonig to wait til this coming spring.

Figures, this time last week, it was 7 degrees.....
Today it was Sunny, high near 70 all day!
Can ya believe that?

So I desided that I was going to clean her up, and give it a nice detail job before the next snowfall.... But after hearing that it's supposed to rain tonight, I halfassed the detailing.

Not only that, but going to my first place to take a pic, it was alil muddy, so the whole car looks clean, while the tires are obviously trashed... lol

I would have gone wild in the mud, but then the time I did spending on washing would have been a total waste of my time.

I took more pictures than just the two, but it's kinda late, I have work tomorrow, and it took forever uploading these... Look for a few more tomorrow night.

I was gonig through all the photos I have saved on my computer, and came across a few older pics of my Baja where a few friends and I camped out, in the Mountains.

As you can see, I have the bed loaded with wood for caming...
Please note, the cool Space Boot and Cane!
This was almost two months after I broke my leg at work.
http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/1963/loadedbajanb8.jpg

Hmm... They say that a car is an extension of a man's "happy place."
... and cracking jokes about how big "you" are, is a sign that you'r not packing much of anything...
...I have two cars, and I'm trying to prove that my Wood is indeed bigger than yours....
...And my friend doesn't seem impressed ;)
http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/7524/ryanswoodfd9.jpg

We started cooking diner right after setting up camp....
I had the least amount of power out of all three of the shown vehicles.
It's hard to compare to a 318 Jeep V8, and a Triton V10... LOL

Yet, I did prove to them that I could go anywhere the Jeep can go, and that I could go farther than the Ford, because of size :D

Yeah, about 3 to 4 inches above the ankle went "SNAP!" Both my tib and fib snapped into two peices. Luckly the operation went pretty good. One long 5mm Titanium Rod, 3 screws, 16 staples thats obviously removed by now... it's healed up quite nicely. other than a slight ache every now and then, and numbness in my knee, I'm pretty much back to myself, again.... I'd like to see that sheetmetal break it this time!

Yeah, I really hope they'll be good tires. I was told by a few people that these BFGs are great, but the center tend to wear down alil more, because the tread depth isn't as thick. other than that, I believe I'll be happy with em.
They should look good on there, too.... We'll find out tomorrow;)

Struts are next on my list, but nothing special. Just enough to ge the job done.
O2 Sensor is a must... Been putting it off for a full year now.

And then after workign some overtime, and I pay off my Computer alil, I'll be getting this... Which will be soon.

I have added two more things to my list of (soon to get) stuff.

I talked to the guys that built my custom exhaust system for my Nova, and they will build my custom cat-back system with duals for 215 bucks.
It will look alot like this....
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2088/2227277863_56cd865ce5.jpg?v=0
Just picture the tips to be alil more far apart, with the trailerhitch still intact.

And for 190 bucks, The Baja will have this kickass RalliTEK SSI Skidplate.

And... I dont know if I wanna do this or not... What do you guys think?

Should I get a custom RalliTEK Snorkel System like the one off this Baja, or will it be a tad to much? I'm beginning to think it looks awkward, and would kill the look of the car...
I know its hard to judge from the pic because this guy has created somewhat of a monster...

The Exhaust system I should be getting within a month.
The Skidplate is alil pricey. I dont know how long that may take but if I was to guess, within a few months.

And Next Paycheck is gonig to be a big one, because I'm working overtime tomorrow night, and Monday.
We're supposed to be closed down on Monday due to Labour day, but we've got alot of work to do and no time to do it.
So they're asking for guys to come in and work this day. Obviously, I'm in.
So in about two more weeks, You'll be hearing me talk about ordering the SSI Skidplate from RalliTEK.
one of many parts I will possibly be buying from them.

in the meantime, check out this RalliTEK Baja that I'm basing alot of my ideas from.
http://flickr.com/photos/ralliteksubaru/sets/72157603773540229/show/

The Turbo Kit is from AVO, and RalliTEK has it for 3500 bucks.
http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-49187380673845_2018_42051560
It's supposed to bolt right up to a non-turbo 2.5 without replacing internal componants, and give an extra 100 horses, jumping from 165 to 265.

I'm gonig to learn alil more on how safe it would be to use on my stock 2.5, and if it truely going to be safely compatable, look to see me buying this kit within the next year or so.
AVO's famous bolt-on turbo kit for the Subaru 2.5-liter naturally aspirated flat four. Included in the kit: - AVO Garrett water-cooled ball-bearing turbo - AVO high-flow bar-and plate top mount intercooler designed for high flow and almost no pressure drop - AVO Stainless steel up-pipe Stainless steel downpipe with a sport high flow catalytic converter - Pre-programmed engine management with extra injector. - Stainless braided oil lines - AVO Power air filter - AVO intake pipe - High quality hoses & Fittings - Full fitting instructions This kit will work with your oem or aftermarket headers, (as long as they still utilize the stock flange pisistion.) and cat-back exhaust, or with the stock factory exhaust system. The kit has had extensive dyno tuning to ensure driveabilty in all conditions, including hot and cold weather testing. On the dyno the kit produced 212hp at the wheels at the recommend max of 6 PSI of boost. This puts it in the 265 HP range at the engine. About 100 horsepower over stock. This makes the car very fast, faster than even a WRX as it has more horsepower and is a lighter car. This is the finest kit on the market today. Complete installation instructions, and all hardware included.

Designed for 2000-2004 models. Can be easily adapted to fit all older models, including 2.2L engines.

DOES NOT INCLUDE OPTIONAL BLOW OFF VALVE

Welp, I got my Exhuast on. It didnt quite turn out like I wanted them to, but they're growing on me....

The tips appear to far apart, but that was due to the lack of space required by the trailer hitch. I'm going to take the car back soon and have them tuck the tips back alil more... to much raw pipe is showing, and looks like ***....

I didnt pay much attention to he power, but I doubt its enough to piss on... lol

and I would imagine it would fit your wagon, considering the guys welded and bent their own pipe.
This isnt their fault though. These guys are very good, but what I wanted looked better on paper.

I've only got about 2 1/5 inches to cut back on, but it will be cut back.
I just wish that the trailer hitch wasnt so wide..... The tips would have looked 10 times better if they were around 5 inches more inboard.
I'll eventually have them redo the whole thing down the road. I'll get a turbo muffler on the thing, and remove the hitch, and have the duals installed correctly.... Cause right now... I'm kinda kicking myself in the ***....

Well, I cancelled the order on the stock muffler temperarily. First off, I dont need to go spending so much money so soon.
Jenn kinda talked me into just trying to fix the position of the tips first, because she has noticed a decent increase in horsepower, where I was more focused on how bad it looked, and sounded.
The sound might be something to get used to if I just give it time, and it wont cost me much at all to reposition the exhaust... I will give it a few days, and give the car back to the exhaust guys, and see if my next idea will prove to be alot better looking than this one. Then I'll go from there....

Welp, I installed my new Subaru Baja Spec muffler.... I love it, because there isn't an ugly tone. I'm willing to sale my custom backpipe to whoever wants it.

Should have kept the damn exhaust.

May I ask why??
I hated it.
It sounded like shit, and my car isn't supposed to scream, "I'm loud and aggressive! Challenge me!"
and,
It looked like ***, IMO.

Maybe someone else with a Baja would find it cooler than I did.
All I do know is that after spending the money on the custom backpipe, buying the new muffler to restore it to its original form, and the ticket I got on my way to pick it up, this was nearly 600 bucks total.... Should have just left it alone to begin with.

Well, I'm looking to buy my first JDM part for my Baja... But I cant find where to buy a set anywhere.
RM has given me a few places thats known to have em, but nothing yet....
What I'm looking for are a set of Headlights found on the 00-04 Subaru Legacy RSK B4 and STi S401 Models.

They're Rev D type HID headlamps like these...

Can anyone help me?

You're going to have a slight gap between those headlights and the North American hood from what I remember.

Last I remember, andivic at SL-i.net has a set. Put up a WTB thread over there and you should be able to find some folks willing to sell. I PMed andivic earlier this year and those lights will cost you $900 or so for the set.

Holy shit... Thats alot of money.... however I'm not worried much about the gap, because my bugsheild will hid that.

I may have to resort to either staying with what I have, or get the US HID Rev A style headlights.

You should add some Borla exhaust headers for the trademark Boxer Rumble.

Probably wont hear much with the stock muffler back on the car. But I wouldnt mind a set... The stock manifold's heat sheilds rattle and vibrate when moving from a dead stop.

I'm sure sl-i.net would allow you to explore some muffler options. I've seen various muffler options, but the most popular option would probably be the single-tip Cobb muffler.

I've also seen a few STI mufflers, but those are found mostly 1995-1999 Legacies. I have yet to see a 2000-2004 Legacy with an STI muffler there.

I'm going to get a Momo Steering wheel within the year, but my Baja's Seats are already full of win... besides that, WRX seats look out of place.

2005-07 Outback XT wheels, JDM Rev.D headlights, and yellow fog lights. In my opinion, those wheels should be next.

I'd imagine the L7 grille would look sweet...time to open up PS CS3!

The Baja sure is a nice little pickup & is it American built or Japanese still? I never saw it in Australia before or even heard of it.
