so I decided to make another thread for my 88 Stang. Here are some pictures from a year ago:

Slideshow (http://s189.photobucket.com/albums/z246/SageCallahan/Mustang%20Pics/old%20pics/?albumview=slideshow)

so I got it back today after being in the shop getting a 350 hp engine in it. I don't remember all the modifications exactly, but theres the obvious 1995 Mustang Cobra rims, and the engine. this is my daily driver, so it's nowhere near as modified as the Cougar is.

Engine looks kickass but the body...

Sage

the paint has been worse for wear since I bought it, and probably much longer than that. It's defiantly something I want to fix, but I'm glad to have it back from the shop after getting the engine right now. if I can find the time, i'll defiantly do some body work on it.

it got fairly good mileage before the swap, about 25'ish, but I'm not too worried about it.

The 5.0 is one of my favourite cars ever, but what I love most of that Mustang is the sound of it's engine... and you swapped it. :(

Nice ride anyways.

Lol, you think that 5 litre gets bad gas mileage. Cadillac's 8.2 L V8 from 1970 to 1978 got bad mileage.

ha, true that. this car was the main reason for the Faggio!

only drive it about once or twice a week now, but it saves a hell of a lot of gas.

Thats (don't kill me) my favorite mustang style! The older ones are good too, but the 80's to early 90's were my favorite! We have a neighbor that just moved in next door and he has a tan one with a exhaust kit, I have no clue and a it has those same rims! Sounds insane when he turns the corner by my house and guns it.

Sexy cars man... err... the Camry not so much. :P

A little question, but please don't kill me... what kind of engine is it?
You already said it's a custom built V8, but I'm curious to know what engine block is that (At first I thought it was the 5.0 H.O., but somewhat modified).

Oh BTW, it would be kickass if it was like this one IMO:

I laugh at you for asking every one how much is their car worth. It's like asking someone how much money they make working. It's rude.

Currently getting a lot done. Emergency brake doesn't work, tailpipe is rubbing the inside of the tyre, the back calipers are locked up (all though this has been worked on and may have been fixed), and the biggest is the fuel pump (most likely). The engine dies out above 3000 rpms under 50% load and up. I ran some diagnostics and its not getting fuel pressure, which is most likely the pump, all though that isn't for certain. Will keep the thread posted as updates come in.

Gas tank removed. New pump put in today. No longer packs up over 3500 rpms. Finally revs like it should. Also moved the exhaust pipe over some so it no longer rubs the inside of the tire. Fixed the problem with the brakes, where the caliper ended up rubbing the pads. Only thing left to do now is fix the emergency brake. Paint and bodywork will come with time. Important thing is that is runs and drives.

It isn't that hard to stick with something you have a passion for. The hardest part was finding the time to work on it. Luckily, I got a job in a shop that specializes in Mustangs and classic restorations, so I ended up getting all the parts for free since I do the labor myself.

Sage

I'm surprised this car has gotten this much interest. Guess I should post my modifications for those interested.

245/45 front tires
270/40 rear tires
Cobra R wheels
BBK rear control arms
Custom dual exhaust (sorry, forget the brand, they were put on years ago)
Walbro fuel pump
K&N air filter
Custom ported Cobra intake
Professionally ported GT40 heads
Edelbrock Shorty headers
E303 Cam and 24lbs fuel injectors
Hurst shifter
King Cobra clutch
Edelbrock water pump
Has also been converted to mass air

Has not been dyno'd recently, all though if I were to estimate power and torque numbers I'd say somewhere around 335-350 hp and 300lbs torque.

Well I've been driving it for the past two weeks. Unfortunately the new fuel pump has not solved the problems with it packing up at 3500. I'll be taking it back in next week to run diagnostics and see what I need. I got two codes last time I ran it through a diagnostics computer and they have to do with fuel delivery and air/fuel mixture so I at least have it narrowed down. I moved the right exhaust pipe over to stop it from rubbing the inside of the tire, but it still rubs it over some bumps so I need to work on that too. The e brake hasn't been fixed yet, and I also bought a Jegs driveshaft safety loop I'm hoping to install soon. On top of all that, fifth gear has been grinding every time I go to shift unless I go REALLY gentle on it. It's the only gear that does that. I had the transmission (its a Hurst 5spd) rebuilt two years ago so I'm hoping to avoid doing it again. Pictures are in order!

fifth gear has been grinding every time I go to shift unless I go REALLY gentle on it. It's the only gear that does that. I had the transmission (its a Hurst 5spd) rebuilt two years ago so I'm hoping to avoid doing it again.

To avoid further abrasion of you gear, you could try double clutching. My 924 has problems with 2nd and 4th while shifting normally. Second gear grinds badly with some more rpm difference while shifting, the synchronizer ring may be gone. With double-clutching it doesn't grind though.

Sage
06-29-2012, 12:20 PM
Even on upshifting? I've only used double clutching on downshifting (also 5th is the highest gear on this car) and even then I've only had to use it sparingly throughout my time driving. The synchronizer is the only thing I can think of. Fifth and reverse are not synced with 1st-4th on this transmission.
