hey new guy here! been browsing NFScars.net for a long time but just now decided to join. i didnt realize we had so many car guys on here.
so anyways this is my 2000 saleen mustang, #953.

at the time i bought it the car was N/A and stock.

now it has a procharger p-1sc with aftercooler, trick flow intake manifold, BBK shorty headers, crower stage 2 camshaft, and dyno tuned for 14PSI, shift point @ 6500RPMs.

all the work was done by me in my garage (well except the dyno tune)
here are a few pics.

ive been told it sounds and moves like a jet.....just wait till i give it a shot of the giggly gas:rolleyes5:evil:

i also have a 98 pontiac grand prix GTP as a daily driver (parked infront of the saleen in the 3rd pic)
it is one hellofa sleeper.
the car has 1.9 ratio rockers, ported exhaust manifolds, ported supercharger/LIM, homemade FWI, catback exhaust, 3.25" supercharger pulley, and a custom tune.

the stang rips, no doubt about it. going WOT and hearing the blowoff hiss as i tear through the gears always puts a giant grin on my face. although the looks on someone's face when they hear a very loud whining coming from a grocery getter that just flew past them is priceless too.

thx everyone. ive had this car for almost a year and a half now. it has close to 70,000 miles on it, but you could never tell seeing or driving it. it has a few small scratches, but not bad for an 8 year old car. thx for the props again everyone, i think i will like it here.:)

i will see if i can borrow my friend's camera. mine cant pick up the exhaust note...for whatever reason...

ive also been trying to get a good speedo vid, but none of my friends can hold the camera straight, or are to scared to be in the car at WOT.

just use a tri pod and ask your friends to turn it when your car speeds by.

Geez, you must be a stoplight bandit with that S281, lol.
Looks very well maintained and clean. The GTP looks killer with the duals too :P

The Saleen looks pretty nice. Though do you get much torque steer from the GTP?

lol, i will put someone in their place with the saleen if i deem it necessary. i usually give them alittle bit of a head start, then as im flying by i shift and make my BBV hiss at them. that usually will teach those near stock cars to screw with an 11 second car/beast that wonders the streets:evil:
i can usually catch the ":o" look at the next stoplight
the GTP came with dual mufflers stock, although the manifolds come together before the downpipe. i guess they Y off near the for looks... in my opinion it adds weight, but oh well she's a fatty anyway
the torque steer and wheel hop on the GTP is ridiculous. putting down over 300 ft/lbs of torque to the front wheels at around 3k RPM makes it difficult to launch.:'(

i'm not going to be driving the saleen or the GTP as much over the summer. they both require premium fuel and with gas prices sky rocketing it's going to be difficult to fill...
i plan on picking up a single cylinder motorcycle for a couple hundred dollars (like an old Kawasaki 175) to go to work in, then use the GTP as a car to drive in the rain and take longer trips in (it actually gets 35-38MPG on the highway when i throw in my MPG.bin tune) and the saleen as a weekend cruiser/show car/strip car/woman getter :D

What state do you live in?

I would always love to embarrass a mustang on the streets, but then again, I am having trouble getting into the 12s thanks to wheel hop and weak parts.

razor128

im in central illinois.

what weak parts are you talking abot? ive seen an ls1 GTO go high 12s with an intake and tire.
im having trouble getting into the 10s due to traction issues as well, but i figure once i get the spray hooked up i should beable to drop some time in the back half. as long as i dont spray right off the line i think i will be ok ;)
you better be packin more than headers with that LS1 gto or the only one you will be embarrassing is yourself, esp if i sprayed you (my nitrous is getting hooked up this weekend:evil:).
but hell i would be up for a race as long as the loser paid for gas :P

what all do you have done to that GTO? i read in you picture thread you have headers and a midpipe...anything else?

haha, nah thats all ive got...for now. ;)

There are plently of guys running a tire on their GTOs but the IRS sucks when it comes to sticky tires.

They're either breaking their halfshafts or axle stubs. One guy I know twisted his stock driveshaft like it was nothing.

yikes, ive busted the rearend of the stang twice and had to replace the clutch, other than that it's pretty solid.
running a tire of a stock drivetrain isnt the best idea for any car.....

the ls1 is the best engine that was put in the GTO in my opinion. it has the best aftermarket and when stuff breaks parts can be had cheap because they are so common. good luck with your build, what are the plans? and is it going to be done withing the next 10 years :P

What happened to the Bumper number?
and just for validation, could we get a pic with "nfscars" written somewhere in it :)

Would've been done by the end of the summer, but I bought a truck so who knows.

Catback, intake, and a cam...still dont know what I want.

thinking 242/244 or a 236/239, but again, its a tough choice...I am not really trying to install that one myself...anything else i'll deal with but not the internals.

Shooting for 430whp. (on motor)

sounds like a decent build. the ls1 takes very well to a camshaft. what kind of duration does the stock ls1 cam have?
my stage 2 has 276/276 duration and .581 lift on the intake and exhaust valves.
unless you really know what you are doing, then do not try to install a cam yourself. im not sure if the ls1 is an interference type engine, but after you put everything back together and you bend a bunch of valves because the timing was off wouldnt be the best time to find out. x(

well as far as I recall, all saleen's have the number stamped onto the front bumper under the left headlight.

yes, i have seen those. why mine doesnt have it i dont know. i didnt touch it...
it does have a saleen id tag that does match the vin on the car. maybe the previous owner removed them? ive seen it done before...

I love SALEENS & your Mustang is my favorite out of all the members ride on this site so far! SALEEN are cool & the 2000 Mustangs have nice looks. It's one of my favorite Stang models. Man it's quite rare & too expensive in Australia, but I wish I could ever get to buy one. I wonder how much this kind of car would be worth? I'm not being rude though, I also want to own one & I would like to get it at an affordable price.
