Ok guys, long time since ive been here! I just returned from working out of town in the Timmins kidd creek metalurgical site in the acid plant and got a new toy! Shes a f350 crew cab lonf box 7.3l powerstroke! I still do lots of towing and still sell emergency and warning equipment, so the truck is slowly being st up. I dont got much time now, but im going to slap up the basics.

so far, ive put a pioneer 5000 cd player, 2 mtx subs, sony xplod amp, code 3 slick stik in the back window and soon 2 dual talon windsheild lights (on order) will be up there. and maybe single talon or code 3 as2 lights in the side windows, one flashes, the other an alley light. or a full bar on the roof (unlikely, but I did build a turbobeam for it). I do plant on changing the headlights and grill, because its got the work truck edition lights (i was the clear headlights that are euro style but stock and chrome grill)

You got yourself a F-series fleet in the making there :) That thing is huge, a full size lightbar would look great with it. Interior flashers are always cool, it's like having an undercover car. Turbobeam bar? I haven't seen any of those before. Cops in our area like fed sig vistas, code 3 MX 7000s around my school, fed sig vectors out in the country, and whelen edges everywhere else (ambulances especially like those).

Dang... what a massive ride. No offence or anything, but I think my wallet would go empty pretty fast paying gas for that truck. But I'm guessing "Northern Lights" pays for some of it maybe?

Rich P

Turbo beam is a economy, but still insanely effetive bar, I just got another 10 of those bars shipped to me, all are 120$ each fully restored, they have alley lights, a takedown and 2 blue and red rotators.colors are interchanglable. I made a custom 53" bar for this truck, with 2 rotators, 2 front strobes, 2 rear, takedowns, alley (jetsonic alley lights) rear worklights and stop/tail/turn.

and for fuel, it cost me 160$ to fill (130l). I drove all yesterday, drove 240 km's, the gauge barely move, didnt even burn 1/8th of a tank, apparently I can get almost 1000 kms to a tank of fuel. And Northern Lights is my small business, I sell emergency/warning equipment.
and yes, if any odd chance someone does want to buy anything, I do ship world wide at buyers expense (roughly 60-70$ to usa)

I was gonna say "Well, since the Vector didn't fit on Blue Yander, why not try in the Beast?" That 53' bar is giant.... and I thought the whelens they have on ambulance were massive. Vector bar has a lot of programmable options, you can have some lights on steady burn, others on spinning or flashing, I remember I saw it in a YT video.

youre thinking of the vision, with all 7 programable pods, smart vector has 2 pre programmed pods, they can oscillate, rotate, aley lights, takedowns, rear work, rear flast, jog left, jog right etc. I just got some threaded rod to mount this bad boy.

thats a monster,
where do you get all them light bars from? do you make them? Salvage?

Civic_Undercover

You can buy them from manufacturer sites and order them to be shipped. Federal Signal, Whelen, Tomar, Code 3 and some others have websites with emergency equipment for sale.

Rich P
10-09-2008, 07:29 PM
I get them used, restore them, and sell them. I also specialze in custom built code 3 mx7000 bars and turbobeam bars.

and, the vector is now ounted on the truck, for a few days. it will be removed after all adjustments are made for aiming, then itll go back on in winter

Wow what a beast we don't really see many pickups around here but there is a F350 up the road from where I live in blue you don't realise how big they are until you see one in the flesh, it's the only car that hasn't been vandalised at some point in our street the best so far being the Grey Mitsubishi Evo VIII FQ400 having it's spoiler chopped off.

I for some reason really like this pickup despite not really being a big fan of pickups but this is over the top in size which just makes it great.

damn that thing is huge....
...I cant imagine how much it is to fill that thing up....
and powerstrokes are a killer at the pumps...
I dont know how much it costs to fill up in Canada, but that shit is around half a dallor more a gallon that regular gas.

Rich P
10-11-2008, 06:27 PM
well everyone, it costs me 165$ to fill 130 l tank. but it will now cost me 130$ everyime... hehe. i get just under 1000 kms to a tank. most stations are sitting at 1.24$/L, one was at 1.19, ut the whole station was empty, and its no rinky dinky one either, a huge pioneer station

scheafft, I was thinking about geting a chrome grill, but found it cheaper to paint it, i always hated the black grills

and dodgeboy, Ill take a look, but shipping will probably be pricey, Ive got to get it sent to me, Im not sure if you want to pick it up being in ontario, or do a meet up somewhere in between. but my source only ships to me for a few legal and ease of difficulty reasons.

Rich P

my cars are messy? mine are always spotlesst, the only think in there ix a minilightbar in a box, my amp is just sitting on the seat, been too busy to mount it to the su box. and yes, i did paint the grill, chrome grill wasnt available.

it also had its first off road expeirience today, not really any 4x4ing, but a rough wild *** trailer and old train tracks, and a 300 foot long 500 foot high old train bridge. there might be a few pics, ill see if my friend uploaded them, she took some pics of the bridge and me yanking a truck out of a swap like it was no one business. there was 3 other trucks there trying to help, i flew in, stopped, hucked them a chain, told them to hook it upwith a strap and hammered in reverse. all under 60 seconds.

have to ask you this.... its been bothering me a bit as of late.

Why do you have a fixation with light bars and such? Does your job require the use for them? Because I thought that stuff was for emergency use only?

Rich P
10-13-2008, 08:30 AM
Actually, that was an odd one thing leads to another deal. When I used to haul scrap cars daily for cash, I had a set on my truck, sometimes I towed thing that didnt let me keep up to other. but contrators and a few snow plow contractors were asking me where i got mine and how much it cost me, ten more kept asking me, then i was getting call, no to get scrap cars removed, but to see if i could get a set of light for them, then i figured theres enough of a market up north here where there plows everywhere. i started up another business selling them, I make a profit and in the only person who offers customized lights, i still make lots of profit, but customers get a hell of a deal still. but now i own a plow, so i need a set on top, which im removing because that set is horrible for off roading. and any vehicle can have them if theyre the legal colors and theres a legit use or not running them for no reason.

Shouldn't be too bad to ship within Ontario. Can't be over $50. It's still cheaper than driving to Sudbury. lol

Well, Update time!

friday night everything but the cd player, rifle and lightbar was...

STOLEN

Yup! I was sitting at the bar rockin some brooks an dunn and alan jackson and getting all bombed up, went out for a smoke and noticed the "a" pillar panel was hanign down, figured it fell off, maybe i didnt put it back in right when installing my new dual talons, then saw a wire cut and hanging, figure ooo thats why teh courtesy light dont come on! the wire is snipped, then really looks, both whelen talons in the windsheild were gone! then looked in the back, the slick stik, gone! then looked some more, no amp, no subs. i was fuming, went on a small drunken rampage, then hopped in (not touching anything i didnt have too) and slapped on both spot lights in the side lightbar (which they unbolted) and went searching for a bit. no luck. next morning, i looked trhough, everything in a small comparment by the steering wheel was gone, ashtray with change, hotsauce, spare bulbs was empty (well, not the change, just bulbs and hot sauce), glove box was open, few things gone, some tools in the back seat were gone too. Im going to check pawn shops tommorow, i have online ads posted saying theyre stolen and watch out for them. im not sure if theres any ebay users here, but if anyone spots my crap, let me know. i doubt they will, because they probably dont have computers, up the road of the bar is native housing, not a lot of good happens there, its a pretty rough area for that one block, always bottleings and stabbings there.

Civic_Undercover
11-18-2008, 09:26 PM
Wow..... I hope you get all (or at least some) of your stuff back, and also find the people who caused this to happen to you. Why the heck would someone want to steal emergency lightbars to begin with? Too cheap to pay for them, I presume. Are you going to have somebody investigate the ordeal, like a police investigator?

Rich P
11-30-2008, 06:39 PM
linkin, yes, an actual bottle of franks red hot xtra haot sauce, they also too my lighter that was in the ashtray, but left all the change.
anywhoo, last week i finally got brackets for my plow, installed it and everything, put the turbo beam lightbar on and started making cash, there suposed to be a wop *** load coming tonight, so tommorow i may have a full tank by the end of the night.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/Richard3100/my%20gold%20f350/DSCN5699.jpg

and I ordered a pair of Whelen TIR3 LED surface mount lightheads (amber) I was thinking about cutting out my reverse light innards and putting them in there, but something happened that may make me rethink it. my reverse lights have either s short or bad connection (causing the fuse to blow) this was arecently a big problem, that i had no clue that would lead to others. a few nights a go, my 4x4 wouldnt help me out of a sitiation, also, i barely had head (just the windsheild defrost setting, nothing else) i realized, ive been going through swamps, lakes and mud pits in 2wd! my 4x4, heat switch and reverse lights are all on one fuse, which was blown. i changed it, everything worked, then it popped again, i jumped it with a peice of wire, everything worked, but the reverse lights crapped out. they started working last night, but also, a back up beeper! i laughed for a while, because i was going to install one, but that made me realize theres definately something wrong, near the end of the night, it sounded pretty funky. so im going to trace the wires, hook it up right and hook up the under the bumper reverse lights, so i can cut out the tail light ones and put my led lights in. the back of my truck sticks out of any driveway 15 feet before my cab, so i need warning back there when im plowing. i got the turbo beam, but i only run the 6 strobes (2 to the front, 2 to the rear, 1 on each side) because the 4 rotators are a bit annoying for people in houses at night.

New updates, thatns for the comments also. and mcf is right, its a auto, 4x4 shifter on the floor and the e brake on the floor also.

I installed Whelen TIR3 LED lightheads in my reverse lights when plowing, the back of this truck will stick out on the road far before the cab, so I want motorist to be aware Im going in and out of driveways, snow banks got so high, my roof lights werent visible.

I was coming home one night from the bar, slide sideways across a snowbank (damaged both doors and box) hit a pole, flipped it on its side, then back to its wheels. I found another one just like it, white, blue interior, fully loaded, same damn thing as mine. days before the acident, me and a friend bought 2 vulcan 880 tow bodies, I was about to convert my truck into a tow truck, Now I need to start from scratch with a new truck, I got a tow body, awaiting refurbishing. that would have been one bad *** tow truck, subs, stereo, plow, neon accent lighting, all kinds of neat accessories.

Yes, I found a ford f350 crew cab, 7.3l with a D&D "Z" boom wrecker, unfortunately, it needs 3 Injectors, and smokes a lot from the exhaust, and has 500,000 kms on it. I have found a motor with 160,000 kms, for a few grand, so for approximately 8,000$ i got a nice wrecker. Its black with purpleish airbrusshed flames, looks wild. Or a white 2000 f350 extended cab with a Vulcan 880 wrecker on it for 10,000$ Or I can get another one just like mine for 6500$, butwhite and fully loaded. Im getting just over 14,000$ for my truck, around 6000$ less than what I paid for it.
