This is my 1985 thunderbird. I bought the car for 250 bucks. And drove the car home 14 miles without a single problem. The car runs great as is but I have big plans for a sleeper car. Has pretty much stock everything. I've stripped almost the entire interior. Future plans are 351w(of which I already have the block and pistons), C4 tranny, New rims and tires, new shocks and springs. I'm gonna paint it primer gray as soon as it warms up enough. Then eventually black with yellow in the summer. Amazingly everything on the car works except for the seats, and wiper motors.

Wow not bad for $250. That interior is just trashed. Looks like a good project car, good luck with the swap.

Have you considered finding another Bird and using this one for parts? I am sure you could find one with a decent body down South for cheap. This car looks like it will need a lot of work to be a good driver. From the looks of it, it needs close to everything repaired or replaced.
As for your engine block question, that's just a Ford engineering number. You already know all the important info but here is some info.
D = decade - 1970,s
2 = 1972
A = Model - Galaxie
E = system - Engine
71-73 deck height is 9.480
Even though it was designed for the Galaxie it could have come out of anything that had that engine in it. Ive always heard that the best blocks were (69-71) your 72 casting has the small spark plugs but I think any Windsor block is worth using! ( IMHO )

well I know the interior looks like crap and so does the paint. I've stripped all of the interior except the seats,carpet and some of the dash. The body is completely straight. Alot of it is from sitting in the sun for too long. I have new seats coming tomorrow. And I don't really care how it looks, that was kind of the point. Everything else works, if I were to keep the engine all I would need is a power steering pump and a new valve gasket( altogether about 60 bucks). Besides my buddies uncle has a 351w we could strip down and all I would have to buy is an intake, carb, and headers. I have all the tools and know how to do the rest

Seems to be pretty good for that low cost you paid. I wonder how is it possible that cars like those can be sold for so little money...

That thing is straight up ****in badass bro. I dunno shit about doing projects so I don't think I can help you with the technical stuff, but I'll be looking forward to this. The 351's gonna RAPE.

Damn, this thing has had a rough life. By the way, those Ford 2.3 TurboCoupes are sick. You might want to fool around with that thing and fix it up.

Thanks for the support, got my seats today so you know I had to put them in. I also stripped the carpet out while I was at it. Probably dropped another 150lbs with the seats and carpet. So here are the photos. Check out those alum brackets.
That shit's gonna fly like a missile.

hopefully I will primer the car tomorrow along with putting my old rims off of my bmw if they fit. They are universal rims so they should. Plus Im going to look at a C4 this weekend hopefully. That would be a sweet addition to the project.

yeah go to craigslist.org for montana, under autos for sale and look for 1995 BMW 530i in Billings Montana. And you will have the pics for the bmw. I did alot for that car but I've started a new project. By the way I found a 5.0 for 275.00 so I'm gonna take a look at it tomorrow and maybe that will be going in instead of the 351. Updates are I put a streetfire performance coil in tonight and a grant steering wheel. That little 4 banger has quite a bit of pep now.

well i found a 1990 5.0 in a lincoln today for 275.00 so I bought it and its going in the t-bird. So im selling the 351w

Oh and by the way the rims from the bmw didn't fit so that sucks.
yeah you gotta check the lug patterns en shit before buying rims.

4x4-1/4" lug pattern. 22.4mm offset
That's your bolt pattern.
