View Full Version : "Jennifer" - 1992 Toyota Soarer - Final Pictures, Sold.

06-26-2009, 11:39 PM
The Specs:
Make: Toyota
Model: Soarer
Year: 1992
Engine: "1JZ-GTE" 2.5L Twin Turbocharged Inline-6
Horsepower: 280hp @ 6,200 RPM
Torque: 268lb-ft @ 4,800 RPM
Milage: 65,500 Km's (When purchased), Currently at 76,500

Haven't named her yet, but this is my Dark Green 1992 Toyota Soarer. Yup, its right hand drive and has a twin turbo Inline-6. Although its an automatic, I have already done a burnout and gone through a drve through backwards and had my picture taken while doing that by a complete stanger. And all in just under 2 hours of owning it, lol! Its completely stock (save for a aftermarket deck), so it is a blank canvas for me. It will strictly be my summer car from now on. Its a hoot to drive, plenty of power and pull while still maintaining a smooth luxurious GT ride.

Its loaded to the guts with power everything (including power folding mirrors), auto climate control, Digital dash, Tilt/telescopic steering wheel, wood grain trim, 8 speaker stereo, Projector headlights etc...

Now I gotta watch out for yet another JDM driver in the city.
You people are the plague when it comes to imports on Canadian Roads.
JDM are not safe.

Clean though.

One of my favorite cars ever. I never thought I'd see one on the forums.

Good-looking example. That front passenger seat looks like it's never been sat in during those first 40 grand.

06-27-2009, 12:14 AM
I can verify he owns this. It's a nice car, fast too! Drivethrough backwards was amusing haha. "Is it better backwards??" "Yup." :)

I didn't even know these things existed. Never heard of the Soarer. I know there is the Lexus SC400 though.

I didn't even know these things existed. Never heard of the Soarer. I know there is the Lexus SC400 though.

they were mainly sold in Japan and Australia, some models were shipped to UK aswell.

06-28-2009, 02:11 AM
I know the Toyota Soarer was sold as the Lexus SC300 and SC400 in the US. It was probably badged Soarer in other markets.

06-28-2009, 02:55 AM
Yup, these were made in Japan using Toyota Supra engines. The SC300 is sold in North America as the Lexus SC300 which features a N/A 3.0L Inline 6 (but who wants that when you can have twin turbos?!). Anyways, went out photoshooting with Linkin today, should have pictures up by tommorow or monday.

It is quite the comfortable cruiser, and surprising easy on gas! So far I'm sitting at 300Km's on less then 2/8's of a tank gone... and I haven't been too easy on the loud pedal either. Also named her "Jennifer". Oh, and for a cheap proof shot, here's me driving down Whyte ave tonight:

There was also the SC400 which had the 4.0 V8

Never knew these things had such powerful engines... Nice ride!

There's a Toyota Soarer in GRID as a drift car.

06-29-2009, 03:11 AM
awesome a soarer.. much better then the GS300 you were talking about :)
Seen a couple over here aswell. One time at a drift event.. he sucked hard due to the Auto box ;)

And your even about equal to my hp's now :) whats the weight of that thing?
Oh, dont name it. it a frigging machine/car.. ;)

Some new wheels and done!

06-29-2009, 03:51 PM
Nice car...i like the soarer, beast at drifting:)

appollo four fourty
06-29-2009, 09:37 PM
Ya i heard of the soarer (Gran turismo lol) Bears a big honda accord influence only its got balls.

06-29-2009, 10:29 PM
^Maybe. I doubt it :\

06-30-2009, 03:09 AM
Please never compare this car to a Honda.

And yes, new wheels/tires are needed right away, trying to find a good set to roll on just for this summer at least. Got the rest of the pics from Linkin, but its 3 AM and I wanna sleep. so tommorow or someday they'll beup..

06-30-2009, 03:12 AM
Please never compare this car to a Honda.

comparing a Soarer with a Honda is the codeword for "i wanna be slapped like a silly *****" on my books.

never do that.

06-30-2009, 04:25 AM
Congrats on the car man, this is some rare *** car you got right there. It's so rare that even very known American based websites that have extensive information on every car don't have any records of it. Even the V8 version doesn't have the HP or the torque of the twin turbo.

Comparing the most powerful trim of the 6th gen Accord (1998-2002) to a twin Turbo Soarer (1991-1996) is quite literally exactly like comparing a V6 Camaro to a V8 Camaro made between 1996 and 1998. The difference is too big to be neglected.

07-01-2009, 02:16 AM
Thanks guys. As promised, new pictures. Big shout out to Linkin for cruising around with me and for taking the pictures. As you can see, it does need bodywork, but thats what a new garage and winter time will be for this year. Hopefully by spring I'll have a bodykit on order to be put on it as well.

Like I sais before, its an amazing GT class car for the year. One thing that amazes me is that even with a twin turbo 6, I'm averaging about 20mpg around the city! :)

I miss my bass, but I still have the subwoofer setup from my E36, so I think that'll be tommorows project as I have the day off.

That second shot is shaweet.

07-01-2009, 11:35 AM

Now leave it like that. No mods, unless they're VIP or wheels.

Elegant car, love this, man.

07-01-2009, 12:39 PM
nice shots and JDM's awesome
When you do bodywork are you thinking of doing a respray?

07-01-2009, 04:28 PM
Congratulations on such a quality machine. Very nice looking too.

This is how it should look I think. :)

Sir Tristan
07-02-2009, 08:55 AM
Are these available in Europe?

07-02-2009, 11:48 PM
Possibly sold under the Lexus brand as Soarer (confusing, eh?).

Seem to remember reading one of the performance magazines where they bought a bunch of second hand cars and tuned them up (not Top Gear mag, but in that style), one of them being a Soarer.

07-03-2009, 01:28 AM
Killua, that's exactly the look I'm hoping to achieve when I'm done. Mine will still be dark green, but hopefully with a little more Pearl in it, with gold & polished 18x9" wheels, and a small wing on the trunk as well.

Hopefull I will be picking up a set of 5 Spoke 17" ASA Wheels (to roll on this summer at least) this weekend if all goes well. A slight change in plans with my audio setup as I am going to sell the current one I have and downsizing to a couple bazooka tubes and a Double DIN headunit. I am downsizing because I still want to maintain some sort of functionality with my trunk.

07-04-2009, 12:09 PM
That looks like a pretty sweet car and lots of fun. I don't know if I could drive a right-hand drive car, that would be weird. Those pictures are awesome. Good work on those Linkin.

07-04-2009, 05:00 PM
A few proof shots, Interior shots and some random exteriors for you guys!

07-06-2009, 08:49 AM
Nice shots...
As for some Rims i would go with some Volks GTV like this one

07-06-2009, 01:27 PM
^Wheels, yes. Body kit NO...

07-06-2009, 01:29 PM
ooo digital cluster very nice :D

Sir Tristan
07-06-2009, 01:30 PM
I'd treat this one as a VIP. vipstyle anyone?

Or maybe just kill Jennifer with disgusting rice (that would be cruel)

Sir Tristan
07-06-2009, 01:34 PM
These taillights

are NOT rice.

07-11-2009, 10:19 PM
Yuppo, those would be the tails I want. Picked up some new wheels today!! Just temporary wheels to roll around, but they make a huge difference in how sleek the car is overall.

Old 16's on the left running 205/55/R16. New 17's rolling 225/50/R17:

My Dad came to help throw 'em on:

A quick bath, & a quick photoshoot as well:

07-12-2009, 04:49 PM
Nice Rims...snow tires?

07-15-2009, 09:28 PM
Congrats on finding this Luxo Supra, man! She looks clean.

08-04-2009, 12:38 AM
Put 1,130Km's on her this past Long weekend when I went up to the mountains with some friends. Handled the 5 Hour trip amazingly, barely complained cruising at 130km/h with the A/c on. Loved the mountain roads, and there was time here and there for a few quick shots.

The little pole you see on the bumper is known as a "Parking Pole". It Automatically pops up at the push of a button under the dash and helps you judge where the left (Passenger) side of the car is when parking in tight spots! Also its funny as hell to drive around with it up:

Lake Minnewanka, Banff, Alberta:

Ohhh look! Crooked plate held on with one bolt and a Zip-tie, and a McDonalds toy Zip-tied to a tow hook? That's some madd tite JDM shizzit yO!

Those long hoods make for excellent beach towel warmers!

Hiding at the Hotel.

Credits to Linkin for the last two shots as well :)

08-04-2009, 12:55 AM
Pics 3-6, and 8 are the most legit. Props to you for being awesome.

08-04-2009, 05:07 PM
Lovely pictures. The car looks excellent.

08-06-2009, 08:15 PM
Need some opinions. Found this spoiler I had bought for one of my older cars that I never got around to ever even driving. If I put it on, the 3rd brake light will be removed and it will be painted to match of course. It's a little different from what you'd normally see on Soarer's, but I think that's why I'm diggin' it... Sorry about the quality, Blackberry shots as I was too lazy to find my Digi Cam.

08-06-2009, 08:32 PM
I would have preferred a 'lip' spoiler, but that spoiler looks nice and its just the right size.

But definitely consider the lip spoiler, I seriously think it'd look really sick on your car.

08-06-2009, 08:41 PM
It doesn't flow with the lines of the car so I say no deal.

08-06-2009, 11:00 PM
A spoiler could work well, just not that spoiler.

08-07-2009, 12:59 AM
I'd say go for a lip spoiler as well. It would look much better.
Although, if you tilt your head a little, that one just might work...

08-07-2009, 01:56 AM
I agree about the lip spoiler. The one you presented here looks out of place on the soarer. Plus, from the pictures, it appears that upward force would be created unless you are designing your own mounting brackets to install the wing

btw, you took some nice pics on that trip. The one in which the car is hiding by the hotel - wheels really pop out (they look like white ceramic, or it could just be my monitor).

I'd say forget the wing, lower the car's stance (an inch, maybe 2) and then get a nicer wheel/tire package that will fill those wheel wells.

09-04-2009, 03:09 AM
Haven't done too much to my car looks wise yet, besides the wheels. Well, now the mod bug bit my friends and has hit me too. My friend just ordered him and I 8,000K HID's and I will be ordering new headlights as well (OEM Lexus SC300 to support the 9006 Bulbs). I am looking into getting all 5 windows tinted, and I might have sourced a cat-back exhaust system to throw on.

Had some fun tonite... :)

09-04-2009, 05:23 AM
love that car,buy me one^^

09-06-2009, 12:13 PM
no moar teaser we need good pics haha
hows progress?

09-10-2009, 12:51 AM
No more teasers then! Waiting on tint (20% All around) & Lexus Sc300 Headlights with 8,000K HID's! :)

Nightshaded the Tails, and the Toyota Badge. The badge actually turned out kinda Green, so it almost matches the car! Also stole Linkin's deadmou5 sticker lol!

09-10-2009, 07:54 AM
that aint a car...thats a beast^^

09-10-2009, 04:03 PM
that is sooo nice, can't wait on how it looks in the future ;)

09-10-2009, 10:14 PM
jumping late on the spoiler discussion, sorry for the dark pic, was the one i found.

basically it's a sports lip spoiler, it is a bit higher than the usual bootlid lip spoiler used on vip cars, on the case, on the soarer it can look good since its a coupe...

09-10-2009, 10:17 PM
Looks good. I think you should shave the emblems.

09-11-2009, 10:13 AM
OZ, I'm guessing this picture shows the same type spoiler. It's much clearer in this one. (

+1 on the spoiler
+2 on the rims (black with bare metal lip = WIN. Biggest reason why I fell in love with that yanktank when I first saw it)

09-23-2009, 10:47 PM
I'm a bit iffy on the spoiler right now. I have seen some very clean Soarers without spoilers and they look amazing. It'll all just depends on if I get a bodykit or not. And if anything I will be getting a factory lip spoiler on the back. Other then that, not much has changed, just waiting for some money, my garage to be built and winter so I can tear her apart!

2 New shots and a video as well!

10-24-2009, 03:54 PM
How about a nice seafoam and drive by video? :) Click the link to watch!

10-24-2009, 04:04 PM
that video is mad ill.

10-24-2009, 04:11 PM
Over revving the shit out of it in the mean time. Seems like your engine wasn't that dirty.

10-24-2009, 06:38 PM
Meh, that was maybe 4 - 5,000 Rpm only lol. A few newer pics I found on my camera today as well"

Lol, that last one is was a few days ago when I got stuck in a ditch (don't ask). Had my friend (who is pictured) pull me out with his '08 Imprezza!

10-24-2009, 09:03 PM
fine i wont ask haha but your friend seems pretty happy... did he get paid lol

12-10-2009, 12:17 AM
Well, as of tonight I no longer own the Soarer. Just sold it to make way for a much better and funner car. I haven't been driving it lately anyway, as I've been using my Parents Explorer in light of Alternator troubles with the Soarer and a huge dump of snow last weekend (as shown by Linkin LOL).

I am currently in talks with a guy down in Calgary, should have a new car by next weekend at the latest? It'll still be JDM, just a few years newer, a bit smaller, a lot lighter, and AWD lol.

01-31-2010, 01:56 AM
Took her for a final spin before the new owner picked her up, after fixing a few things with her the other day. I'm in contact with the new owner so I know whats happening to her. I'll be seeing alot of her this summer as the new owner intends to bring it to local car meets and what not. A few parting shots;

Sir Tristan
01-31-2010, 07:48 AM
What if... the new owner rices the shit out of Jen? Gangsta wheelz and whatnot?

Just sth to think about.....

02-03-2010, 09:36 PM
Then he chooses to do so, its his ride now so I'm not too concerned.
