Ok, I know how in my old topic;
I said that it was sold, this is true, the transmission pretty much was garbage and seeing that it was automatic, I was losing interest in it. So, I am now rolling in a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire.
2.2L Ecotec

No real mods on it currently, just HID look-a-likes, blue LED dome light, and 7-color LED trunk light. Anyway, here are pics (before I got the new headlights)
Bye-Bye Cavalier (they tore off those LED lights I had on the bumper (looked crappy anyway)
Yellow 880 Fog Lights (look great when its crappy out)
Liscense Plate cover. (ignore that scratch in the back on the drivers side, my dad ran into my car with the snow blower, getting fixed when it gets warm out.)

I also forgot to mention I have Stealth Auto chrome amber bulbs. (So your turn signal housing stays clear instead of reflecting the orange making it appear orange, unless lit of course)

Well guys, tell me what you think.

01-25-2010, 02:20 AM
Looks good. I liked how you unriced it.

01-25-2010, 03:28 AM
I'd rather not have a car thank you.

01-25-2010, 04:26 AM
5-speed ... sounds lazy

01-25-2010, 04:57 AM
That's a car I have never seen before, I like it.:)

01-25-2010, 02:19 PM
Depending on how much I get back for taxes, I am going to do rather small mods on it, intake, cat-back exhaust, plugs wires, rims, and maybe some other stuff. No body-kits, no ricer-style tail lights or headlights (they don't make them anyway for this year). I am proud to own one of the last Pontiac models, I feel like a classic car owner, just proud to be one of the last.

01-26-2010, 03:05 AM
Very nice acquisition. I must say, I do like the looks of it over the Cavi. Same motor as before? Driving feel any different?

01-26-2010, 12:57 PM
Nice upgrade. Those cars are a lot more fun with the five speed. And less likely to be borked by spirited driving.

01-26-2010, 01:01 PM
Same exact motor. It drives way nicer and has a lot more pick-up than the Cavalier, because of the 5-speed. I do love the Sunfire waaay more than the Cavalier because as the Cavalier's interior was pretty much just a bunch of rectangles, the Sunfire has more curves and way better looking seats. I'm surprised I don't have pics of the interior. This is a good comparison though: rd.jpg

Also, the sound system in this car stock is way nicer than the stock Cavaliers, the sunfire has built in tweeters. pg

I will have to get more photos.

01-26-2010, 04:48 PM
There's something cool about these cars, I don't know what, but it surely looks fun!

In the first picture, was that Golf besides your Cavalier the one you were considering to buy some time ago?

01-26-2010, 10:46 PM
Yes, but it has a electrical problem somewhere that they haven't found yet. They have been working on it for quite some time. They only have 2 sales people and one mechanic, and one dude that does wiring (they install audio stuff their too).

EDIT: The only thing I don't like about this car is the Eagle Talon-like Spoiler :P
Seeing that I don't want to take it off, fill the holes and such, I'm keeping it on haha.

01-26-2010, 10:56 PM
the interior looks clean. I don't like the talon influenced spoiler either.

01-27-2010, 12:15 AM
I'll admit that I'm not a fan of these cars, simple due to the fact they are always riced and overdone, but yours is definitely very clean. Sux for the snowblower-car crash. :P

And keep the spoiler on, cuz they look sorta ugly without the spoiler. But don't add two more spoilers, as that is popular among ricers... ugh.

Nice tho... I had in-car lessons with that type of Sunfire. :P

01-27-2010, 01:24 AM
Yeah I hear ya, the cars exterior will re-main stock, no bodykits or none of that stuff, in Wisconsin, each driveway is steep, and its begging to break them.

02-01-2010, 01:20 AM
Here are some pictures of the Stealth Auto bulbs and my lights and my LED dome light :P
Blurry (Its very cold out tonight)
Lights (Day)
Lights (Night)

Ok, here are the Stealth Auto Chrome Bulbs:
As you can see, there is no orange tint to them.
This is how they light up.

(Yes I know my bumper is cracked :( )

Nice car, man. Will be a nice little runner.

02-04-2010, 06:42 PM
Yeah it is a fun a little car, no complaints yet, although this did appear yesterday:

Kinda depressed, now it looks like I have to get a new windshield instead of getting that cat-back exhaust I wanted.

Sir Tristan
02-05-2010, 10:01 AM
Can't they fix it by pouring in liquid glass or suttin? There are companies that do it.

New windscreen is too expensive.

02-05-2010, 06:51 PM
Well what I have been told (by numerous people) is that they can fill/seal the chip, if its under the size of a quarter (25cent coin if you know what they look like, not trying to be a smart-arse). This chip is smaller than pencil, but the crack spreads waaay far out, just a little bigger than a quarter. So they might not seal it, I will find out Monday, and my insurance deductible is $500, which the windshield should be cheaper than that.

02-05-2010, 10:07 PM
Unique car, never heard of it. Suscribing.

and yea +1 on the trade in.

02-05-2010, 10:44 PM
Just so you all know, as soon as I find out Monday on the windshield, I will post what they say. I was surfing around and found one place that would do it for $240 (Including installation). The place is about a hour away, but I am going to locally first.

02-10-2010, 07:26 AM
Due to weather and schedule (work), I have not yet been able to get a hold of anyone for a window estimate, I will soon though, I do however, have a small update, ordering this:
K&M Typhoon Intake

02-11-2010, 05:48 AM
Good news, I am going with Auto Glass Specialists for my windshield, they could flll my damaged windshield for $140.00, BEFORE tax. Seeing that it has multiple other small chips, I am going to just get a new one. That is going to cost me, $283.95 before tax. I would know the EXACT amount but I don't know what the sales tax in over in there town is. If I knew that, I would give you all the exact amount. Just need to figure out my next day off and set up a appointment. Will be roughly $310 I think.

02-17-2010, 03:50 PM
Windshield has been replaced! No point in any photos, because a windshield is a windshield.

02-19-2010, 01:12 AM
Sorry for the triple post, but a update:
Windshield has been replaced:

Found some rust that will be taken care of as soon as it gets warmer out:
(Its right where the plastic bumper meets the frame, a common problem on Sunfires)

And something new for the trunk:

Will try to get decent night pictures tomorrow, I have a doctors appointment, I went slightly deaf in the right ear a few nights ago after sleeping, so they are gonna take a look and see whats up (probably a ear infection).

02-19-2010, 08:55 AM
I went slightly deaf in the right ear a few nights ago after sleeping, so they are gonna take a look and see whats up (probably a ear infection).

Could be a swollen eardrum or, in my case, just a dirty ear :P

02-19-2010, 09:04 AM
Naw, I went to bed last night and it started throbbing, I am 80% sure I have a ear infection. ;)

02-19-2010, 03:06 PM
LOL, you shouldnt have spent the money to replace that windsheild dude.
Your Insurance would have taken care of that free of charge... Well that is, if you have full insurance on it.

02-19-2010, 06:58 PM
I do, but apparently they said they wouldn't because of my deductible or whatever >8/

02-22-2010, 01:23 PM
Order a set of these today, probably will get amber leds to replace the orange bulbs that come with:

02-22-2010, 02:50 PM
Curious how it will look ;)

02-22-2010, 05:23 PM
Yeah I am too, the over-all design of the lens looks interesting to me. I should have them by Friday this week.

02-24-2010, 01:07 PM

LED trunk replacement bulb. No more dim 7-color one.

Sir Tristan
02-24-2010, 04:16 PM
When you do mods dude, buy American (coming from a European car enthusiast that's somethin').

By American I mean GM products. By GM products I mean, like, Corvette/Camaro/GTO wheels and shiz.

02-25-2010, 04:12 PM
Got my clear corners installed, took about 10 minutes, because I was freezing.

Sorry the car is dirty, will get better pics this weekend, got a gm car meet this weekend ;)

02-25-2010, 04:25 PM
Nice sunflower...:P

02-26-2010, 12:39 AM
lol! I'm starting to enjoy hearing that!

looks good ;)

03-05-2010, 11:41 PM
Thanks for the comments! Next on the list is a muffler. If I have of tomorrow I will post pictures of it. Nothing fancy, just a stock looking muffler and a little muffler tip. No fart pipes ;)

03-06-2010, 07:49 AM
No fart pipes ;)
This is good.:D

03-06-2010, 05:17 PM
Is looking awesome that ride of yours

03-06-2010, 06:20 PM
Picked up a muffler today, its a Dynomax (kinda like a flowmaster). A friend of mine has this muffler on his Cavalier and it sounds stock with a slightly deeper tone. Nothing loud, I'm done with loud exhaust. Sadly, the muffler is shorter then my stock muffler, so I had to get a longer tip for it. The tip is a bolt on, and the bolts that came with are WAY to long, so I am going to see if the shop can weld it onto the pipe and if not, then I will just cut down the bolts some so they fit and don't stick so far out and look like crap. I spent a total of $50 for the muffler and tip, not too shabby.

03-06-2010, 07:25 PM
Reminds me that I atill have to get Mass Effect. ME2 was so awesome, I just have to play ME1!

Nice car btw :D

03-06-2010, 11:30 PM
LOL! Yeah I was planning on getting ME2, but I want to understand ME1's story first. So far I like it. Which means a lot coming from a racing game fan.

03-09-2010, 03:53 AM
Muffler will be on Wednesday.

03-10-2010, 02:46 PM
Muffler is on and sounds awesome. Its louder then stock, but only a bit (can barely hear it past the engine noise) and its nice and low sounding.

I will upload videos when I can find a way to do it. Photobucket won't let me, neither will facebook, or youtube.

03-10-2010, 03:16 PM
Looks good, almost stock. :)

03-10-2010, 04:00 PM
Looks good, almost stock. :)

03-10-2010, 05:15 PM
Whats great is that it dosn't sound stock. It has a deep rumble upon acceleration, but at normal driving its quiet.

03-13-2010, 11:36 PM
That tip looked huge compared to the muffler but it really worked out! :D

03-14-2010, 01:17 AM
Nice before and after shot.

03-14-2010, 01:03 PM
I was trying my best to keep the images somewhat similar, kinda hard, I was using a crack in the pavement for a reference :P

As of now this very moment, the car stands like this:

Alot of touching up and fixing has to be done though, but that can wait till its super warm out.

03-14-2010, 02:23 PM
Paint the roof black and itll look even better :D

03-14-2010, 02:38 PM
You need new rims.

03-14-2010, 02:55 PM
You need new rims.

That will be a possibility. I miss my old LS rims, bolt right up to the sunfire, so I may grab a set of them. Should be cheap if I can find a wrecked Cavalier.

03-14-2010, 04:27 PM
Paint the roof black and itll look even better :D

That's weird, I was thinking the exact same thing. :)

The exhaust looks great man, almost stock but you can notice a sporty look once you pay attention. Keep it up!

03-14-2010, 04:47 PM
I disagree. Leave the car in one colour. A blacktop wouldn't look good IMHO.

03-14-2010, 08:07 PM
I will be leaving the car stock colored, a few members in the car club I'm in already have black roofs:
^ 1996 Sunfire with a Cavalier front end swap.
^ 1995 Sunfire

Theres a few others, but I can't find pics :S

Sir Tristan
03-15-2010, 01:16 PM
I think your car's design separates the roof from the rest of the body somehow - paint it black.

Also, it would be mega badass if you put corvette headlights in the front (Cavalier ones are IMO not a good idea - cavalier is downmarket, from sunfire isnt it? why downgrade?), with C6 wheels. Sweeeet.

03-15-2010, 01:33 PM
i recommend you changing or taking off the spoiler...
dunno that stock spoiler doesn't look good IMO

03-15-2010, 05:21 PM
I'm pretty sure all Corvette headlights won't fit on a Sunfire without major modifications or fabrication, closet thing that would fit is a RX7 projector, but seeing this car isn't going to get riced out or have major work done (its a daily driver) I am staying away from expensive mods. The spoiler is also staying on. Without the spoiler it looks weird. I know the spoiler is weird to begin with, but without it, the cars shape looks awkward.

Next mod:
Black Grill

The photo is a Canadian Sunfire, so it has the amber signals (US is clear with orange bulbs). Mine are kinda faded with a matt gray, so the black should really set them off.

This is going to be ordered tomorrow:
RKSport nose badge, seeing my stock one is cracked. The picture looks bad compared to the actual one.
Better picture of the emblem on a Solstice.

03-15-2010, 05:35 PM

btw i like your new muffler do you have any vid for the sound?

03-15-2010, 10:41 PM
Unfortunately not at this current point in time. I DID have one but the sound quality was horrid so I will have my friend record with his new camera, probably Wednesday afternoon and have it uploaded Wednesday night.

03-15-2010, 11:00 PM
awesome. can't wait to hear it

03-17-2010, 03:06 PM
Sorry 370z, it will have to be Thursday, my friend went to a party this afternoon and didn't tell me :P
Will have to be done tomorrow :(

03-18-2010, 01:28 PM
Sorry for the double post, anyway a update (no exhaust vid yet):

Well, fixed my spots behind the bumper, was goofing around and pulled the bumper down with my hand a bit, apparently, it was just above the bumper, so I sanded it, and painted it. Then I attempted to fix my bumper. I am only slightly happy with how it turned out. Looks good from far away, but when you get close, it looks like a deep scuff :(

Oh, and as some of you may have noticed on my Cavi (now sunfire), that the plate in the back had a bunch of old year stickers piled on top of each other, took care of that today with a razor and hot water, now I just have a new 2011 :D

As the bumper was, very nasty indeed, and the rust was starting to go through.
Commence sanding :D
Sanded, primer, paint. Looks ok, I didn't really want it to look show-room perfect, I just wanted the rust gone so it won't continue its rampage!

As for the bumper:
As it was, huge gouge and a little chip, so I figured hey, I have some touch-up left.
First coat, yeah it looks bad still.
Second coat! Looks much better, I didn't go for a third, because it made me nervous and I was worried for going for a third and (probably) final coat.
Far away it looks ok.
Up close it still is visible, but I can live with it, I will have someone help me repaint it in the future, and maybe get my front bumper painted too :D

03-21-2010, 08:53 PM
It sounds louder than it is, thats why I hate this camera, the audio is horrid.

This is much better.

03-26-2010, 07:07 PM
Two (possibly) new updates in the near future:
Smoked rear lenses, and a set of Sunfire GT Rims
The GT rims are free, and come with tires, but the guy said that the tires are worn, he just wants a straight up trade for my doughnuts, not sure if I wanna pay the cash for all new tires.
Smoked lenses.
GT Rims.

03-28-2010, 03:57 AM
The smoked lenses will be here next week.

04-24-2010, 08:51 AM
Go figure, the lenses were damaged when I got them, so I got my money back and decided to go a easier route. A friend and I sprayed them with 2 drops of black paint to 1 pint of clear-coat. We wet-sanded them first, this is the end result:
Thats with the tail lights on for at night. (MUCH brighter at night)
This the brake-lights / hazard lights / turn signal brightness.

And as a side project, we cut the rubber off of my climate control knobs, and then sprayed them Duplicolor Metalcast paint, the paint itself is for engine blocks, or other high heated areas. But, when applied to clear objects such as, turn signal lenses, or other stuff like them, the paint is translucent, unlike spray paint.
This is FOUR coats of the paint.

For both of these things, it only cost me $5.

Also, my friend and I rotated the tires and changed the oil, the locking plastic nuts from the old sunfire hubcaps were torqued on, and we had to slowly tear the hubcaps off, only 2 survived, so I went out and put new hubcaps, you would not believe how many people actually thought they were rims. We also sprayed down the steelies with black paint, because they were fading badly.

04-24-2010, 05:11 PM
I really like how it looks now. It is cool and clean, if that makes any sense.

04-25-2010, 06:38 AM
It does make sense, to me anyway.

appollo four fourty
04-25-2010, 11:45 AM
Bro, please, please PLEASE. Get summer rims (rims not hubcaps) Thats what you should save your money for. Go to a scrapyard and look for them. I got 4 rims (with new tires on em) for 100 bucks total (winters). Just browse around, kijiji/craigslist. Your car will look alot better, then CAI, if your like me maybe turn signal in mirror/housing mod. Change fog bulbs to something brighter. Just suggestions :)

04-25-2010, 12:26 PM
Summer tires / CAI/ etc. stuff is pretty pricey, found a decent of rims for like $100, but the tires (4 new) are like $380, don't have that type of cash currently. Hubcaps for now, car needs new brakes and a new Serp. belt, so those are my top priorities currently, fancy stuff can wait until after I fix what needs to be fixed. As for the yellow fog lights, don't bash them until you try them. Yellow is the BEST color for inclement weather, and here in Wisconsin, we get all sorts of crappy weather. My camera isn't good enough for pictures that show light.
A good read on why yellow tends to be better, I didn't get these for just looks, I just did LOTS of research.

As for the mirrors, I see too many Honda's and stuff using them, the only modification to the mirrors I will be doing is painting them the same color as the car. You are 100% correct on the rims, I would love to get a nice set, not too many salvage yards, I do however have a set I am eyeing, and my friend will let me know when he is ready to part with them. As always, I respect everyone's comments and love the feedback, so appollo four fourty, don't think I am dishing out any hate. ;)

Any updates on your Subi? Just read that you got rear-ended awhile back :(

04-25-2010, 12:53 PM
just heard your exhaust. sounds very clean. haven't been to this thread in a while as you can tell.

and lol at spray painting your taillights

04-25-2010, 01:04 PM
The Taillights look good, as for the GT rims, i would paint them black

04-25-2010, 01:10 PM
The Taillights look good, as for the GT rims, i would paint them black

I was thinking the same thing for the rims. Those MIGHT not be the ones I will be getting, but these instead, if my friend can find a set he wants:
It will be these for sure, however, seeing my car is a Pontiac and not a Chevy, I would have to take out the center cap and re-do it, or just spray the whole rim.

@Nissan_370z: Thanks for the comments on the exhaust, it sounds a lot nicer in person, my camera (as you can tell) takes very LOW quality videos. I have a big car show coming up in May, hopefully a few of the guys and I can take a better one.

EDIT: Found a recent video my friend had on his camera that takes really good video:

07-15-2010, 07:19 PM
Long time no post here, anyway to keep everyone updated:
Recently updated my rear license plate lights with "Cool White" LEDS
They look almost exactly like this, but mine are waaay brighter than my friends Sonoma pg

So thats the latest mod, I was unable to get the LS Sport Rims that I posted above, my friend sold them with his Cavalier, and then bought the GMC Sonoma. So, a friend of mine said he will trade his 16's Sunfire rims for my 15's steelies, only thing is that 2 of the tires need replacing by next spring, which is ok, because I will have cash to replace them by then.
Rims in question:
One has minor curb-rash, and I am waiting for him to reply on the fact if they come with center caps or not, hoping they do.

Nothing serious, I would like to get them painted by a friend of mine though if possible, I am thinking gun-metal: Same color as my hubcaps.

07-16-2010, 10:22 AM
Take the alloys. I would.

07-16-2010, 03:07 PM
thats the plan, just waiting for him to get back to me about them.

07-17-2010, 03:15 PM
Alloys will be on the car as of July 24th :D
Going to a GM Club meet and were swapping rims there :D

07-25-2010, 08:01 PM
Ok, got the rims installed while at the meet, and had a friend of mine take some photos of the LED License Plate as well.
Swapping the old with the new
Centercaps and lugs.
Rims are on!
More Rims.

We also tore apart my dash trying to figure out why my heater vents would not open:

I love those mini backfires you can hear coming from the exhaust.

And I took a little bit of time to make a quick Photoshop of your car. This is what I was reffering when I suggested to paint the roof black. :) ( (

I know you said you would leave the paint as it is, but I felt like posting it anyway. Also, the new rims look great, but your old hubcaps were pretty cool too.

By the way, why are the bumpers brighter than the rest of the car?

07-26-2010, 03:04 PM
Unfortunatly, the mini backfires is actually a issue that has to be fixed, the Sunfire and Cavaliers are known for their Catalytic to clog, and thats what is happening here. Which means, I am going to be buying a High Flow Cat. soon before it clogs all the way and my car gets messed up. As for the bumpers, I noticed that too yesterday, not sure if it was how the light hits it or not, but I am wondering if the bumpers were replaced once, they need to be fixed anyway and re-painted in the future, but my friend is pretty much booked solid with painting other people's cars. He wants to do mine for free, minus the cost of paint, because he wants to learn how to fuse cracks together, and my car would be his first attempt. As much as I hate hubcaps, I do miss them, they really set the car off. I talked to my friend about painting the new rims the same color as the hubcaps, so we'll see, he didn't say anything really. Also, if anyone wants to see the rest of the photos, let me know and I can post a link.

08-01-2010, 01:19 AM
After some research and getting a hold of my friend who is starting to get really good at painting, we discussed painting the new rims. And agreed if he has extra black paint, clear, and metal flake (small flakes) that we will do this:

It gives it that gunmetal look that my hubcaps had, and will hide the curb-rash quite well I think.
His first metal flake paint job; I think its good enough that he can be trusted, I was there for when the the car was still in pieces lol

08-01-2010, 03:43 AM
Oldsmobile Aurora ftw!

08-02-2010, 10:01 AM
His oldsmobile is such a beast. It looked like crap before, but he did such a nice job on it, he won't use it as his winter-car now lol

08-02-2010, 11:56 AM
New rims are going to look great in black.

08-02-2010, 03:36 PM
Will be going up to the guys house Wednesday to discuss them more if I don't work, would like to get them done soon though.

08-08-2010, 05:12 AM
No word on painting the rims yet, busy painting some other guys complete sunfire, and RE-painting his Buick blue metal flake and white peal on top.

08-29-2010, 01:18 PM
Well no new updates on the car, its getting featured in a Calender, took it for some photo-shooting around town yesterday, my friend sent me a message supposedly containing the pictures, but it didn't work, so I will post them all here when they get here. I have over 130 photos to look through (wow) so I can choose which ones I want for the calender...

So... some teasers:

08-29-2010, 01:43 PM
Nice. If it were me, I'd go for the second or third photo.

08-29-2010, 01:49 PM
I like the 1st, 4th and the last one. Really nice sunfire.

08-29-2010, 02:47 PM
I like all of them...I'm not normally a fan of Sunfires, but yours is really nice :)

08-29-2010, 04:40 PM
I tend to like Sunfires a lot. I may look into getting one when I get paychecks to save.

08-29-2010, 04:41 PM
Thanks guys. I am hoping to get it painted (front and rear bumpers have minor damage) sometime soon, the guy can't do it until next year sometime, and he will do my rims too, so we'll see. I am thinking of taking off the single tip and getting a dual tip (not dual exhaust, just dual tips).

Its a great car, I have put 20,000 miles on it since I got it in January (I think) and no issues with it.

08-29-2010, 04:47 PM
Oops double posted the same thing...

Andrew L
08-29-2010, 04:59 PM
looking good man!

my sister's both had sunfires, the style before yours, green and blue... they were pretty good cars for what they were.

I like the clear corners they help it look more smooth :)

Yeah I love them too. A girl I know had a silver one too, but it was the older body style and she had clears in the back too with red bulbs. I won't be doing that simply because the drivers side won't turn on (checked the bulbs and everything so I have no clue, so I just unplugged the bulbs on both sides until I have time to fiddle around with them. I think what I will do though is tint them as dark as my tail lights seeing they don't light up anyway.

Have you tried running a multimeter or what ever those are called to see if you got power going out to it? Could be bad wiring...

08-29-2010, 07:53 PM
No I haven't but I have a idea what the problem is, and that moisture must of gotten into the harness somehow, I was shaking it a few weeks ago and saw dust fall out, so it must of gotten wet at some point in time or something.

10-15-2010, 08:03 AM
So, I am getting the lighting issue checked this Saturday, which means more photos for you all. Also, a friend of mine posted me a great idea for tail lights after posting a set I wanted:

These are the tail lights I wanted to have, a bit nicer than my stock tinted ones, and these are legal unlike my tinted ones. But my friend posted a rather interesting idea that would require me doing some work, but would love to try them out:

Not sure on how well it would work, seems that the guy who originally made them never bothered to hook up a load equalizer, hence the reason why the turn signals flash so fast, I would go the step further and hook them up before calling it a day.

2.5" amber LED for the flasher and 4" red LED for the brake, i did the yota cav light wiring...

-cut the white wire at the switch
-the white from the brake and the ground from the signal go to the black from the car (both sides)
-the red from the brake gets its feed from the 3rd brake light, then go from the L tail to the R tail.
-the + wire from the flasher goes to the yellow wire on the L and green wire on the R
-then last wire is the running light, black wire that goes to the brown on each side

Well, today we are going to a place called "Devils' Lake" which is quite a interesting spot, its more or less a giant lake surrounded by steep rock cliffs, kinda like a quarry, only its a natural formation. ANYWAY, were having our last GM meet of the year, and I am hoping to get my rear bumper corner light diagnosed, a friend is bringing a ton of tools to figure it out.

A bit about the park for those who are interested:
Devil's Lake State Park is a state park located in the Baraboo Range in eastern Sauk County, just south of Baraboo, Wisconsin. This 9,217-acre (3,730 ha)[1] state park is known for its 500 feet (150 m) high quartzite bluffs along the 360-acre (150 ha) Devil's Lake, which was created by a glacier during the last ice age approximately 12,000 years ago. The sand at the bottom of Devil's Lake is thought to be deposited by glaciers. However, the Baraboo Hills are much older; they are approximately 1.6 billion years old and were once part of the Baraboo Range which is thought to have been taller than the Rocky Mountains. Loess covers most of the hills and forms the parent material of a brown silt loam soil. During the autumn, the park's brilliant foliage makes it a popular attraction.

The one with the red ones and painted mid-trunk was a brilliant design. IMO it would look great if you lashed that *** with black where taillights are. Tinted rear lights (maybe stronger bulbs?) would look even better than those crimson ones (which also look great).

What I would personally do is (although painstaking) painting the roof black or absolutely white (the latter could look quite classy, actually).

If there were to be like more costly mods in question, I'd paint the trunklid and hood white or grey matte, with a gloss black thing 'connecting' the tinted taillights, and a black roof. And some luxury interior theme, thinking classic, popular wood over beige. But then the cost of that could equal a newer/bigger car.

10-16-2010, 08:50 PM

Thats all aftermarket actually. Belongs to a guy in the car club I'm in, the rear decklid is custom painted between the tail lights and those tail lights are made by TYC. The plan was to swap them today, my tinted ones for his TYC's, But we both forgot so that didn't happen. I did get a free "stubby antenna" today though. Now my car dosn't look like a RC car:
Mine was custom made, so its a bit shorter than this. Still have the stock one too, laying in my back seat.

10-17-2010, 08:14 PM
The stubby. Best picture I have of it so far.

The rest of the photos of my car:
(The blue in the headlights is from the blue bulbs being reflected)
(Waiting to cross the Ferry)
(From left to right: My Car, Cody's Grand Am, and Sam's Honda Civic who isn't part of the club, but wanted to tag a long with us anyway (we all play Forza and Halo together)

I will probably post pictures later of all the cars. If anyone is interested lol
Here is a Video of us getting to the lake (from a Beretta's point of view): (

And almost forgot, the dude that has those black TYC tail lights wants to trade straight up, so I can attempt that LED conversion :D

Rest of the "show":
We all on accident parked different, mostly all the red cars found there way across (riced Impala in the background)
More red cars, minus the black Cobalt SS and my best friends Grand Am.
My other best Friends base model Beretta, with a complete BMW headlight swap and Z26 Ground Effects kit.
Everybody else opposite of the red cars (my car is eclipsed by the white Sonoma).
Everyone on the "Silver" Side.
My friends Beretta.
Some dude that the Beretta guy knows, who brought his beater Corsica.
Another good friend of ours, his GMC Sonoma.
I know its kinda ricey, but my this is my one of my hometown friends' younger brothers car, he wanted to join the club and get advice on how to get his car to look better (its his first car and he just got his license).
A very dirty Cobalt (dude didn't get a chance to clean it and it was involved in a deer accident, hence missing grill and other oddities).
The Grand Am.
A Grand Prix that just recently joined the club.
A mostly stock Cavalier. Car has a interesting history, the whole interior is sound deadened by Dynomat.
My Twin. Although her car is lowered, B&M Short Shifter, with a AEM Intake, other than that, its stock.
The Cavfire. Cavalier front end conversion kit on a Sunfire.
The Ricepala.
The Ricepala's rear.

Random Driving Shots:
At Devils Lake.
All lined up for some quick photos (no parking).
More, My twin Sunfire managed to run over a VERY large bolt.
All heading back to our cars to head out.
One of the car trails leaving Devils Lake.
A quick detour for some more photos.
Grand Prix accelerating ;)
All of us backed in.
Cobalt SS
Grand Prix (it has a supercharger, so I am assuming a GTP although I see no badges).
Dynomatted Chevrolet Cavalier (Base I think).[/img
Base Chevrolet Beretta (Z26 kit).

Chevrolet Corisca copy-catting me.
Gmc Sonoma LEDS.
My twin and the Cavfire.
The Grand Am, our friends Civic (we play Forza with him. Grand Am, Civic, and Me play together).
Civic and Alero.
Oldsmobile Alero.
Honda Civic (Adjustable shocks, DC Header).
My shirt.
On a ferry, unfortunately, only half of us were able to get on at a time.
My picture being taken via "Rotary Cam" as my friend said.
Heading out.
Fueling up.

Thats it!

No new updates, I got the TYC tail lights, paint was pretty bad on them. Took them to a friend, so we re-painted where the paint was bad (paint came right off with just a touch of thinner). Couldn't get some of the paint fixed, so when I get my LED stuff to swap, we will finish painting them at the same time. Next mod might be removing the rear spoiler and moving the third brake light into the rear deck (probably get a LED one).

That olds front bumper is ugly...Your car is looking good tho'

12-08-2010, 04:36 AM
Funny you would mention that Oldsmobile, I know the kid that owned it. It was involved in accident about...2 weeks ago. He was horsing around on a road, took a corner too fast and sideswipped a curb. Front bumper is destroyed, sideskirt is hanging by a thread, left rim is smashed into the wheel well, etc. I guess he is buying new parts hoping to get it back on the road. I told him to get stock bumpers, it would look nicer AND be cheaper, but he didn't want to hear it. As for my car, nothing new yet, I think I said I had a stubby antenna installed. Next mods are powdercoating my Wiper arms, and powder coating my valve cover. Then painting the rims black, but thats not until spring.

Olds rice Fail :Facepalm: Yeah i hope to paint some junk on mine as well, Cams, Head etc. just don't have the money right now:}

I know that Alero bodykit, I modeled an Alero Coupe with it some years ago for someone. I think you can even download it for NFS6 on here. Doesnt look as good as stock tho.

As for the sunfire, Id go for those red tinted taillights and the black painted trunklid. And as said 25254 times before, black roof :P

Ah yeah, that yellow Impala looks shitty.

12-10-2010, 08:21 PM
Yeah, the things I see....

01-07-2011, 01:36 AM
Just a quick update, ordered new fog lamps, new reverse bulbs, and got rid of the green trunk led I had (for a blue one, now the whole interior is blue yay!). Anyway, I replaced the JDM Yellow fog lamps for Cool White LED OEM replacements, and the reverse bulbs are also Cool White LED's (not OEM). Anyway, I got the new Fog LED's because one of my yellow ones went out, so I figured I would try something different, and everyone in the car club wants to see what they look like. So I took out the old ones, and just for the heck of it, I turned them on once more, and the one that WAS burnt out worked again, so I was clueless, but I proceeded anyway.

Once I got the old ones out, I put the LED OEM ones in, took me forever because you have to twist them around a bit to get them in straight, and after I got them in I noticed something funny. I saw black, yes black melted plastic in the fog light housings (each side). I guess those yellow ones were too hot for the housing, so its good that I got them out anyway. Once I got them in, I turned them on to see if they worked, and they look marvelous. There a crisp white (not a yellowish white like regular bulbs) with a bit of blue mixed in, giving them a HID look. And at night, match my headlights EXACTLY so its kind of hard to tell when they are on, plus I need to adjust them a bit so they point down more, there aimed rather high right now.

Now to the reverse bulbs, when I ordered them, the site said I could order 3057's and they would fit in 3157's or 3156's. My car has 3157's for the reverse bulb. This was the only part that gave me issues (go figure, something ALWAYS goes wrong). After removing the old bulbs, I attempted and pushing in the new led one, wouldn't go in. So I took a peak at both the old and the new lights, and noticed something. The plastic base in the middle was THICKER then the old ones. So, I had 3 choices;
1. Sand down the plastic a bit so they would slide right in.
2. Return them.
3. See if they would work if I pushed really hard on them.

I went with option 3. and it worked, they don't go all the way in, but there is more than enough touching to make them work. So, I am rather satisfied. I will probably have someone sand down the plastic so I can get them in completely. The reverse bulbs are bright enough to completely illuminate cars roughly 2 car lengths away. I will post photos later, when my camera wants to work.

01-07-2011, 12:13 PM
Another minor update, might be ordering a new set of rare headlights for my car. TYC made a small number, and I need new headlights bad. The right one has a broken adjustment screw and is slowly rubbing the paint of my bumper, and the left is hazed over from the inside somehow. (Right is also fogged and collecting moisture). The only real difference between stock and the TYC is that in the upper corners it apparently has a amber reflector, instead of chrome:
So I am thinking on ordering the new set.

01-08-2011, 07:38 AM
ANOTHER UPDATE! TYC's have been ordered, currently being prepared for shipment, should have them by the 13th/15th.

01-11-2011, 01:38 PM
Just some photos of the LEDs: _n.jpg
Headlights removed so I can get to the fog lights, all bulbs taken out. _n.jpg
Left bulb is the halogen, right is the LED. _n.jpg
Both are now LED, and my new tail lights :D _n.jpg
Left is a stock white halogen, right is the LED. (My yellow ones died) _n.jpg
Another photo. _n.jpg
Took out the green LED for a blue one for my trunk, now the interior all matches. _n.jpg
Back together, my headlights are in bad shape, ordered new ones. n.jpg

Camera goofed up, but the fogs lit. _n.jpg

01-12-2011, 03:45 AM
i approve of this.

01-14-2011, 02:20 PM
Ok, so the headlamps are gone, got a new set made by TYC (same company who made my tail lights). Got em for $130 shipped. So here come the photos: _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg

01-14-2011, 06:05 PM
that's very awesome.

01-14-2011, 06:13 PM
As for now, I think I am done spending money on the car for a bit, probably a few here and there things, next big thing to do is powder coat the valve cover, but thats not for awhile yet.

01-19-2011, 05:36 AM
I couldn't help myself, ordered a Cosmo SRI system for my car, should look exactly like this when I get it: It was $115 with shipping, waaay cheaper then the $250-$300 CAI. Plus seeing this is a Short Ram, I don't have to worry about driving with it in the snow or going through puddles. ;)

01-24-2011, 12:31 PM
Ok, after a week, I finally got the intake, will be installed later today. _n.jpg n.jpg _n.jpg

01-24-2011, 04:06 PM
Ok here it is: _n.jpg
We were in a friends garage, sorry for it being dark, but that is all the old stuff removed. _n.jpg
Everything in place, checking to make sure everything straight and fitting... _n.jpg
Everything is perfect! _n.jpg
All the plastic bits that made up for the old intake...

01-24-2011, 04:24 PM
^Looks awesome.

01-24-2011, 04:46 PM
sweet :)

01-24-2011, 04:53 PM
Now if only my camera could take nice videos, sounds really good under there, and if easy to convert this to a cold air intake if I wish, but seeing how it is usually wet here, probably not the best idea.

01-26-2011, 12:33 AM
2 vids:

Windows Up!
Windows Down!

01-26-2011, 08:45 AM
Sounds nice.

01-26-2011, 04:51 PM
I enjoy it, only if you stomp on the gas does it get loud, otherwise its pretty quiet, it whistles a bit in the lower gears sometimes lol I need someone to do some fly bys or something lol

01-27-2011, 01:48 AM
I'll do another video tomorrow, I figured out the throttle cable, so I can do some with just standing there lol!

01-27-2011, 04:05 PM

01-27-2011, 04:28 PM
Sounds sweet man.

01-27-2011, 05:01 PM
I'll do another video tomorrow, I figured out the throttle cable, so I can do some with just standing there lol!

Can't you just put it in N and put on the parking brake and stomp it? :\

01-27-2011, 05:20 PM
Yes I can leave the car out of gear (its a manual) but its kind of hard to hold the camera outside the car while sitting in it. Thats why I pushed on the throttle from under the hood.

01-27-2011, 07:56 PM
nice! I love that sound. Quick question though. Where does the air come in over there? Just curious because I've always seen those air intakes either behind the headlight or ran through into the front bumper.

01-27-2011, 09:54 PM
Just under the air filter (the cone) there is a hole that goes to the ground, the hole is probably a good 2 inches in diameter, and the air gets pushed up through the hole and hits the filter.

01-28-2011, 11:32 AM
Ah, very nice. You should make a custom surround for it to keep the hot air away from the filter as best as possible. It could only help.

oh and btw, I didn't know that chrome bulbs existed until you put them on your car, and since then I've put them on mine and just love the outcome!

01-28-2011, 03:49 PM
Yeah, I get a lot of compliments about them. As for the custom filter surround, it is indefinitely on my want list, plus not only will it block the heat, but it will also block any water that may come in through the front grille. I washed the car today and actually saw some water droplets on the intake pipe, so it is possible for water to get there.

02-07-2011, 07:39 AM
Waiting for my tax returns, and off for some modifications, this time just a short shifter:

02-11-2011, 06:43 PM
^ Ordering the shifter tomorrow!

02-13-2011, 12:45 AM
thats a shiny *** shifter nob.

02-13-2011, 04:12 AM
geez, it's so shiny. i bet it'd probably be even shinier when you install them. ;)

02-13-2011, 07:43 AM
especially if he adds some Mothers to it.

02-14-2011, 07:45 PM
Yeah it is a pretty shiny knob, I will get pictures of it when it gets here on Thursday.

02-15-2011, 12:17 PM
especially if he adds some Mothers to it.

i loll'd

02-17-2011, 01:18 AM
Should be here in about 12 hours, I will post pictures when done!

02-17-2011, 02:20 PM
Ta da!

02-17-2011, 04:26 PM
oooo shiny, looks good! cant wait to see it in the car

02-17-2011, 04:56 PM
holy shinyness.

02-17-2011, 05:08 PM
I find myself mesmerized by the shinnyism.

02-21-2011, 04:34 AM
^ remove that post please. Anyway, I get what I paid for, the Cosmo shifter is definitely the worse thing I have ever ordered... The pivot ball was too small (defected), and cannot put the car in 1st or 2nd gear because the pivot ball actually come out of the shifter housing, so I sent it back (won't be getting jack crap back because of shipping and a 25% restocking fee). So my car is currently sitting in the garage without any shifter in it. Waiting for a new one to arrive, a actual namebrand one being a B&M, and they actually work like there suppose to.

Ignore my voice, I was tired when I was talking. But just watch the video and read the description. So yeah, hoping the B&M will be good. It was $60 more than this pile of crap.

02-21-2011, 05:45 PM
Damn thats shiny! Theres defiantly some Mothers in that knob. And if its that shiny, the B&M one should be like a sun! lol. All joking aside, sorry that one didnt turn out like it should have, Ive had similar experiences. But you live and learn, so next time, youll hopefully skip the 'jack crap' stage.

On a side note: Hopefully, the mods will note that you were referring to the post about the TC. Or else they might delete my post, and all the posts in the thread for that matter. lol :P

02-21-2011, 06:25 PM
Yeah thats a good point lol! I meant the TC. Yeah I hope to get the B&M soon, its sad to see my car sitting the garage :(

02-22-2011, 01:43 PM
Well more bad news, received a e-mail from the company where I ordered the B&M. It is no longer made. So my choices are this:
1. Somehow get a new shifter (and assembly) from GM (and get raped in cost).
2. Try the Megan Racing short shifter (can't find any help on any of the Sunfire/Cavalier forums).
3. Keep searching for the B&M (even though its going be hard to find one).

It depends on how much you depend on the Cavalier to get you around. If you really need it, then buy a new shifter and assembly from GM... otherwise, hold it.

02-22-2011, 04:00 PM
I depend on my Sunfire every day. However, I have everything torn apart and ready for the B&M (I found a site that had 7 left) so I am going to try my best to get it to work, seeing the full GM assembly and everything is well above $400 (so I have heard).

02-22-2011, 06:06 PM
Have you asked B&M if they have any left, just because they arnt made anymore doesnt mean they have none. Trust me on that. About half the stuff for my car was discontinued a few years ago. lol.

You could ask if they know where you could find one used too. Im sure they know of some place.

02-22-2011, 10:48 PM
Well I am assuming B&M's site is out, seeing their site doesn't list anything for my car anymore, unless you want a Shift Improver kit for the Automatic. I found 7 left on Amazon, and they have matching parts numbers to what I needed, so it should be legit.
Plus the B&M's pivot ball matches my blue intake lol!

02-23-2011, 05:04 PM
Well Amazon called, there out and can't find it anywhere else either... trying some other leads.

02-23-2011, 09:14 PM
Ordered another one, this time being sold on E-bay, apparently its from the B&M/Hurst e-bay seller, so we'll see.

02-27-2011, 05:14 PM
Shifter (from E-bay) will be here Tuesday, won't be able to install it until some time around Saturday. In other news, might be picking up a set of Cavalier Z24 rims for $100, only problem is the tires are junk, but I need new tires either way.

Those are the rims ^

03-01-2011, 08:57 PM
Look what came in the mail, the B&M I have been waiting for!

Hopefully this one will work better!

Hopefully this one will work better!

Congrats on the new B&M shifter! :D Love it, NO RICE, NO UBERTUNE, NO BAD STUFF = Epic American hotness.... oh yeah baby! :}

03-01-2011, 09:37 PM
Can't wait to see it installed :)

03-01-2011, 10:02 PM
I just hope it works lol! After that crappy Cosmo one, anything will be better lol!

03-02-2011, 04:31 AM

03-02-2011, 06:28 AM
Eh, kinda, the pivot ball is powdercoated though :D

03-05-2011, 03:36 AM
Installed and it works like a charm :D
Reason why the Cosmo one didn't work was the factory upper o-ring was lost somehow, which made it flop like crazy in the housing, but the B&M came with a extra, so its all good now. I will post pictures later.

03-06-2011, 05:51 AM
Installed the B&M. Took about 20 minutes to of driving and adjusting it to make sure all the gears worked perfectly, they do now, just that 1st gear take a second because it feels weird to me because its soooo low lol

03-06-2011, 05:31 PM
Eh, some new photos my friend took that is starting up a Photography place:

03-06-2011, 05:38 PM
I like the one of the intake the most. It could make someone wet!

... get it? because theres water on it. lol

03-06-2011, 06:30 PM
LOL I do I do.

03-06-2011, 06:47 PM
Definitely a love/hate car, nice to see someone driving something that most people hate. :)

03-06-2011, 07:36 PM
Wow those pictures are amazing! What kind of camera does your friend have?

03-06-2011, 09:43 PM
I'm honestly not a big fan of those, but I like the progress! Good luck on your car. ;)

03-06-2011, 11:54 PM
I fap those shots.

03-07-2011, 09:27 PM
Those pics are just awesome.

03-14-2011, 06:37 AM
No new pictures for a bit, possibly ordering a 6000k HID kit for the car. My fake ones in my headlights are not doing good enough at night (kinda dim lol)

appollo four fourty

No new pictures for a bit, possibly ordering a 6000k HID kit for the car. My fake ones in my headlights are not doing good enough at night (kinda dim lol)

Your doing a retrofit right? Not just some plug n play bulbs?

03-18-2011, 05:42 PM
If by retrofit you mean like the full kit of the bulbs, ballasts, and all that stuff, then yes. Unfortunately, for now I won't have any projector lenses for a bit, have to custom make a set, which will take awhile. In other news, bought a new set of rims. $180 and I got myself a set of 02 Cavalier LS Sport Rims. 16 inch chromes. Pictures:

The tread is ok on them, should last me to the end of the year, rims need some cleaning and waxing, but that can wait until after I get them.

03-19-2011, 10:57 PM

And they are on, they need some deep cleaning, but that will wait until its warmer.

03-19-2011, 11:09 PM
I fap that. :P

I was thinking that. But those look a lot better than the 3-spoke hubs.

03-20-2011, 02:26 AM
I approve of the new rims. Great deal.

03-20-2011, 10:23 AM
It looks higher because the car was still jacked up on the left side, and the e-brake was on, so it was much higher when the picture was taken, I snapped a quick one because we were losing daylight fast. ;)

This car badly deserves a set of coil overs.

03-20-2011, 04:45 PM
Those will have to wait...awhile. Probably next spring time. pg

03-21-2011, 12:48 PM
Got my HIDs

03-21-2011, 12:52 PM
Much better wheels than the old ones. Great deal indeed.

03-21-2011, 12:52 PM
This car badly deserves a set of coil overs.

Can't wait to see these HIDs installed in your car.

03-21-2011, 01:05 PM
I may have to get rid of the the rims. Upon light brakeing, I hear a clunk noise coming from the right side, my camera barely picked it up, but I managed to record it:

Its towards the end of the video.

03-21-2011, 01:06 PM
i agree with aj_lethal! Where did you get them? Let us know of the quality and stuff, I have been in the market for a good HID i just dont want to get screwed over.

03-21-2011, 01:16 PM
I paid $70.80 from thats including the optional wiring harness for a set of single beam H11's. They will be installed Saturday, so I can tell you guys Saturday night how they are. A friend of mine with a Chevy Cobalt has them, and he said they are well worth it, his have lasted 2 years so far, so I figured they should be good:

03-21-2011, 01:51 PM
Nice new wheels you've got there.

I had a VVME kit for a while. I hope yours are better than mine were.

Best advice I can give you is to make sure your electrical connections are secure, and try to insulate the ballasts so that they don't directly contact a metal surface of your car. Even so you may have to find a way to shield these ballasts from the RFI they put out from being poorly shielded, or risk losing radio reception.

If you're serious about improving your lighting, well ultimately I'd recommend a retrofit as PnP kits just simply don't work very well...either in the quality (since all kits are cheaply made in China, no other country will touch that market) or performance departments.

But that is an expensive undertaking. 6000K is a better choice than many seem to go for, but the higher you go over 4300K, the more light you lose. So a less expensive option would be to get some 4300K kit bulbs. Your vision would improve and it wouldn't be so glaringly obvious (pun intended) that you had an HID kit.

You say you have no projector lenses for your car and would have to make a custom set, which is why you have avoided a retrofit. For no more than $320 (and likely a fair amount less than that, should be about $50 less) you can have a complete, working HID projector retrofit system that will give you uncompromised performance and will last the life of the car. Best of all, it will require absolutely ZERO cutting to your headlights or car, or custom wiring (other than finding a place to put the ballasts), and it will likely take less than an hour to install with very minimal effort, none of the cutting and measuring that took place in my retrofit.

My criticism is meant to be constructive. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in doing send me a PM or reply to this and I can give you additional details and help along the way.

03-21-2011, 02:40 PM
Actually, a friend of mine will be making me a retrofit kit, Just gotta give him the $200 for it.

03-21-2011, 07:07 PM
Youve got some good friends then. Could you spare one? lol. I like those wheels they have that "Im stock, but not really" look to them. Which is rather nice actually. And HIDs are sweet, almost got a set myself a month back.

03-22-2011, 10:19 AM
I could try lmao, but he lives like 3 hours north of me lmao!

03-22-2011, 10:27 AM
VERy nice man. Take care of that beauty.

03-24-2011, 04:09 PM
So, I figured I would share a update. I am going to be putting the 5 spoke rims back on seeing they were not the issue with the noise, must be the brakes (gonna replace them soon). However, while the rims off my friend knew that I want them refurbished because they were heavily curb-rashed and such, so he currently painting them:

03-26-2011, 10:06 PM
Car is now HID Equipped, and yes, I am not running projectors currently, they are scattered and such like you would normally expect, but a bud of mine is building a set out of the old faded headlamps to show me his idea, so hopefully I can get projector lenses in there too soon, they don't seem to be too badly bright currently, seeing the stock headlamps have a cut-off point, but its better to be safe than sorry.

03-27-2011, 03:32 PM
Well just got word that the paint is having issues on them rims, and might have to get them powder coated...and the dude who does the the powder coating for me is afraid to powder-coat rims. So I may not have flashy wheels soon.

Anyway, here are some photos of the HIDs I just took, Hondman was nice enough to get some projector retrofit information so I will have those in the near future: n.jpg .jpg _n.jpg

04-01-2011, 05:52 PM
Well no real update...the rims are done, but I am working a ton so no chance to get them.

04-03-2011, 09:14 AM
So I woke up to a very rude awakening from my Dad saying, "Holy cow its hailing outside!" So I went into panic mode grabbed my hoodie, and camera, and car keys (for some reason) and got upstairs to see pea-sized- to dime sized hail stones falling, and all I could do is watch in horror as my car got pelted by not ONE, but two waves of hail. I didn't see any damage, so I should be ok ;)

I hate you Mother Nature (

04-03-2011, 12:50 PM
If it was me, Id run out and be like 'Take Me Instead' lol. Actually, they make car covers with pads so hail wont damage the car, Ive been meaning to get one myself.

04-03-2011, 01:25 PM
Yeah after today's interesting weather, I should grab one too.

04-04-2011, 01:28 PM
Picking up my black LSS Rims today.
Here we go, I was busy all day so I finally got the photos of them. Gonna try and get them on tomorrow.

04-05-2011, 10:00 PM
they look really nice! :D can't wait to see them mounted

04-06-2011, 03:52 PM
They will be on the car as of the 13th. Just swapping the rims on and putting the current tires on the new rims. $25 to have it done, just gotta wait until next Wednesday.

04-10-2011, 05:51 PM
went to a junkyard about 3 hours a way yesterday with a buddy of mine. Found a sunfire like mine and took the emblem off, only to find a much nicer Pontiac emblem off a older Pontiac, and it is NOT cheap looking, its a black outline, with a metallic patten: _n.jpg

Crappy photo because I had to get back to the house because the Tornado Siren was wailing...

04-10-2011, 06:23 PM
Nice little touch.

04-13-2011, 03:00 PM
Rims are on! They got a bit scratched and stuff, and they got some bead sealant on the rims, and when I picked it off, some paint went with it, so I gotta touch-them up a bit, but here they are in a nut-shell:

They are pretty dirty (been sitting in my garage for like 2 weeks)
So after I touch them up, I will be washing the car after they set.

04-13-2011, 03:15 PM
Looks sexxay.

04-13-2011, 03:17 PM
I liked the other rims, but hey, they may grow on me

04-13-2011, 05:49 PM
looks badass.

04-13-2011, 06:42 PM
Thanks guys for the comments... a friend of mine found a wrecked out 03 Cavalier with a ton of goodies sitting inside it, including a Eibach and KYB lowering kit, asked the hard how much, and I said $50 so we'll see. Other than that, I need to get the rear drums and the calipers painted, because they stick out like a sore thumb, any ideas? I don't feel like going red, too many people do it.

04-13-2011, 06:55 PM
Youd be one lucky sob to get them that cheap a price. And try blue, itll match your intake. lol. Just have a ricer alert when picking the color. Had a friend with a gray corolla looked great with hs wheels, but he wanted to be different too, painted them damn near lime green for the calipers and drums. lol.

04-13-2011, 11:20 PM
It was either blue or silver...silver would probably be best, because it would look more stock.

04-14-2011, 12:58 AM
Rims look good. Get some Meguiars tire shine gel on there and they will pop.

04-14-2011, 01:22 AM
Rims look good. Get some Meguiars tire shine gel on there and they will pop.

Would it be ok to use that stuff on painted wheels? I know I had some spray on stuff and it wasn't safe on painted wheels.

04-18-2011, 03:22 AM
No real new updates. I lost one of my center caps on the freeway at some point in time on my journey a hour and a half north of my home, so a new one was ordered...

other than that I got some goodies: _n.jpg

For show use and club use....and photo use. Because by Wisconsin law, you must have a registered plate on the front of your car. (Stupid)

And then a friend of mine from the car club got me this because I am huge Invader Zim fan: _n.jpg

For some odd reason Wisconsin is going through a crappy cold spell and I can put this on until the 26th sometime because thats when it will be above 60 again.

And I dis-abled the DRLs on the car too, now I don't have to have my lights on all the time, or have the stupid HIDs not work unless I turn them on before I put the hand brake down.

04-24-2011, 02:50 PM
My car is now Gir equipped:

05-01-2011, 12:41 AM
Took the bumper off today and fixed some rust...will have pictures up tomorrow I hope.

05-02-2011, 07:51 PM
Did a little work the other day:

Two things. Apparently the plastic crush panel is missing, and that may or may not have caused the bumper to be FULL of dirt.

Testing new drill and wire wheel on the bumper rust:

Removing the rust that was visible when the bumper cover is on:

Started running low on time and the forecast was calling for rain, so we decided to tackle the rest at a later date.

Tackled that crusty blackness with a harsher rust removal majigger from 3M. Got it to mostly pure clean metal.

Also got the drivers rear sidemarker working =). That ish was full of cracked wire and corrosion.

It was .... bad:

So my bud and I fixed it and wrapped it all back up to protect it:

Still didn't work at first..

So we cleaned up the prongs in the socket, which were green with envy, or corrosion.. annnnnd:

Happy car:

05-06-2011, 10:37 AM
Replaced the 3rd brake light because it was cracked, and while I did that I had some new LEDs shipped to the house to replace the stock bulbs... apparently I didn't save the photos... so yeah... will have to get on that sometime lol

05-06-2011, 12:02 PM
Would it be ok to use that stuff on painted wheels? I know I had some spray on stuff and it wasn't safe on painted wheels.

I dont know. It comes with an applicator, so keeping it off the rim shouldn't be a problem. The only thing the package says is it will stain the paint.

05-06-2011, 09:05 PM
it looks REALLY nice. :D nice work.

05-07-2011, 04:47 PM

Hmm ok I will look into it, I got a gift for being in my friends wedding and it came with all sorts of cleaning supplies and stuff, so I will have to take a look and see what I got.

Thanks for the comments again guys.
EDIT: I have more photos to upload, got 2 new things done to the car, did them this morning with quite a hang-over lol

EDiT 2: Photos!! _n.jpg
Yup another set of clear corner lights... and a mysterious purple package! _n.jpg
The contents of the package appear to be red LEDs. n.jpg
Out with the old white bulbs, and hello red LEDs! _n.jpg
Left one is done, looks good I think! _n.jpg
Now for the right side! _n.jpg
Looking good! _n.jpg
So this is how the car sits as of today!

EDIT (again):
Night photos! Freshly taken! _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg

05-07-2011, 08:11 PM
Lookes pretty sweet so far. Ever going to lower it?

05-07-2011, 08:54 PM
Looks good man. :)

05-07-2011, 11:40 PM
Lookes pretty sweet so far. Ever going to lower it?

If I ever have the funds to do it lol!

To make the light more even, I ordered a set of amber leds for the front side markers now too, should be here Wednesday at the earliest.

05-11-2011, 09:56 PM
Should be a getting a amber set tomorrow for the front corners so they match the rears in brightness.

05-13-2011, 08:51 PM
Ok, been really bust latey, I did get the yellow ones and they were installed, but one of the leds died for no reason, it would flicker and quit, and tried it in like 4 other spots where that type of bulb can be used, all with the same results, the bulbs come with a two year warranty, and I provided the company my invoice number so they can look it up. Tried the normal bulbs and my blue dome light bulb, and they are work in that spot, so its the led thats bad, not the connector. So, before the bulb died: _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg

And no, thats not rust, just dirt from my driveway. Also I used my dome light (blue led) to test the socket, and it worked, and even tried the orange bulbs that came with the sidemarkers, and they all work as they should, but I will upload photos of the blue one in the socket just for the hell of it...

05-13-2011, 09:01 PM
Ok, and here is the blue in that socket, its illegal to even technically have my lights on in these photos, because I would be "impersonating a officer". _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg

05-26-2011, 04:34 PM
Won't be any new stuff on this car for awhile, gotta a ton of other things to do >8/

06-07-2011, 04:33 PM
Didn't really do anything new lately, just keeping the car as is. Went to salvage yard thats like 100 miles away, grabbed a new window trim piece, got that installed, grabbed a new rear crush guard (installing that some time this month when I go back up north to visit my friend, and grabbed 2 dome light covers, one had map light slots in it, but it won't stay in (really wished it did), and a normal one (I have a funny idea, and thats why I grabbed them). I also grabbed 2 black trunk stoppers seeing my silver ones were peeling paint like crazy.
New window trim, no more nasty burn marks or bubbles.
Old trim, bubbled and burned (the white spots)
Black rubber stoppers for the trunk, the silver ones were fine, but they were factory painted, and the paint was cracking and peeling off.
Dome without map lights is on the left, on the right is with them, it also has 1 different clip, so it won't stay clipped in, falls out if you shut the door or hit a bump in the road. Will still have a use for it though...
And here is the crush-guard, I bought it simply because my car does not have one, and because without it, the bumper rubs against the frame which is causing those two rust spots, so this should help hold the bumper back a bit.

06-12-2011, 03:48 PM
Just a quick update. I am going to that junkyard again and will be rummaging through some Cadillacs they have there for one of these in hopefully good working condition:

Yeah thats right, I am looking to get a 3 or 4 note horn from a older Cadillac. Sick of how stupid my current horn sounds lol

06-15-2011, 01:32 AM
It started to rain so I went to a near car wash because it has good lighting:

So thats how the car is sitting now lol

06-15-2011, 12:56 PM
You need some lowering springs.

06-15-2011, 01:28 PM
Indeed I do. Gonna order a set in the spring.

06-15-2011, 01:28 PM
Still love your ride :) Just subscribing to the thread here :P

06-15-2011, 03:44 PM
I do updates every so often, so many things to little money :(
hoping to some day be on the ROTM page!

06-21-2011, 02:34 AM
Another update. Going to go see my friend if the weather is not as dangerous as they are saying it is. Gonna put that crash guard in the back and fix the rust spots in between thunderstorms, its suppose to be pretty treacherous today, but I will take my chances, a car show is coming up and I want as much fixed as possible before then.

06-21-2011, 04:35 AM
These cars are so ugly when they are stock that I have a hard time comprehending how you managed to make yours look so sick. I love it bro, keep it up.

Sir Tristan
06-21-2011, 04:57 AM
Shit dude, this car looks great.

The Cadillac horn sounds like GTA ones, which is very cool.
