I love these, they have such a clean and smooth look on the body. I have never seen it in that color though.

The fact that it's Mitsubishi underneath gives extra points too!

Yeah, the only real difference between the Stealth and 3000Gt is the they look.

I do not really like the colour, but the car is real smooth!

Ever hear the phrase "Beggars cant be choosers" It looks kinda bland the the pictures, it actually doesnt look that bad in person. But I plan on getting it repainted... sometime in the future.

Oh helloooooooo

Bout time we got an R/T VR4 here ;p

Ya there were a few differences in the 3kgt and R/T, mainly the body.

Nice Stealth, will be watching this^

This car is win. The color is just abit weird. How much did you pay?

You know, theres an alternative to painting the car which should be cheaper. I dont know how its called in english but its like giant stickers on your car, with the color you would like it to be. You dont mess up your current paint and you can always remove it later.

GreedyTurbo529
03-14-2010, 05:25 PM
Paid $5800 for it. Dude was selling it for $8800 but he found put he owes like $14000 on taxes so he dropped the price... a lot. Lucky me.

And about the stickers, I know what your talking about, I think its called wrapping the car or something. But Im going to paint it. My friends dad works for a collision repair/paint shop, my brother in laws dad does too, Plus I have a friend in high places in a college right up the street from where I work that has a collision repair/paint course and I can get my car painted there too. Plus Im a painter myself, and if I had too I can put my car into my paint booth at work and at least prime it. So painting it wont be that big of an issue or that costly for that matter, compared to normal paint jobs. Just gotta figure out the color.

Im planning to get it painted along the lines of this, minus all the stickers. I just did that on the game to make it look sponsored.

Vinyl wrapping can cost AS much as real paint depending on details... Better to paint the car since vinyl over the paint can cause problems down the road.

Nice ride! btw is it missing a tip on the back?

Exactly what I thought. Looks like a dual tip on the left and a single on the right.

Anyhow, very nice car. I don't mind the color, as I think unique rides are nice (unique ≠ rice). Can't wait to see what you have planned.

Not really missing the tip, its half way there. Dont know the technical terms for this but here we go. There are two parts to the tip, a pipe, and a cover, the pipe is there just not the cover.

Oh and I was playing with my sunroof and I messed up the spinner doohickey thing today... oops.

Figured Id tell my story (not my life story, just the car part), I really dont say much here, so you guys dont know me very well. Hopefully after this, youll know where Im at with Stealths and modding cars.

- Born in 1988, Ive loved cars all my life.
- My first car was a 92 BMW 525i, it was my sisters and it was a pos, but still hella fun.
- Then I decided to get a project car with help from my dad. I wanted a Stealth but we couldnt afford it. We ended up getting a 67 Dodge Dart with a 318 V8. And started restoring it, a lot like the way T3ku did his white Z.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/tbrobertson17/67%20DArt/100_0067.jpg

-Chevy Silverado + drunk driver ruined that for me.
- Later, I tried to get a 3S again, couldnt afford it. I got a 96 Firebird 3.8L V6. Started to mod it too.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/tbrobertson17/Firebird/Firebird5.jpg

- Got rid of it because it was an Automatic.
- Tried to get a Stealth again, got a 99 Prelude, 2.2L I4, Modded it too.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/tbrobertson17/Lude/DSCF0565.jpg

- Went to college for automotive technologies, couldnt finish due to economy and bills.

- Got a really good job and said f**k it. Im getting a damn Stealth. Tried for 2 years, to get a 2nd gen. Wanted a 94 the most because its loaded with all the goodies. 4ws, 6spd, etc
- Actually, got kinda picked on for wanting a 3S. Everyone, except my best friend, told me to move on and Ill never get one.
- Lost my integrity for getting a 3S decided any AWD 3S is better than none.
- Started to look for all kinds of 3S and all year models.
- 3S's are very rare, in my area at least . Ive never even seen a 2ng gen in person till the one I bought.
- Suddenly This stealth pooped up.
- You know the rest.

A 94 Dodge Stealth AWD R/T is my most favorite car ever. And it feels real good to rub it in all the haters faces, because my stock 3S outruns their heavily modded Accords and Corollas!

Tell me about it. I'm there, doing just that. ;)

Just don't start nip picking it. We tend to want something for so long and when we get it we nip pick it and eventually gets the best of us, and we get rid of the thing only to regret it later. Almost was about to sell my Camaro. I know this other guy he had a 2jz supra and he sold it because apparently 400hp wasn't enough. He's buying another one now.

Nice car, I agree the color is a little odd but then again I definitely understand that beggars can't be choosers, especially when you're trying to find exactly the car you want. Myself, I'd paint it black, but then I like black cars.

Either way, should be a lot of fun. :)

Update: I changed the alternator, it went smooth and it was way easy, especially for an engine crammed as much as mine is. I put a 110 amp in it instead of the 90 amp that was supposed to go in it. So when I put my sub in, I wont drain the battery like I did in my Prelude. I gotta replace the battery in the Stealth anyway. Ill make a video explaining it.

3Si.org helped out a lot with choosing the amperage and the how to. So thanks to them.

monkey.wesley
03-16-2010, 09:20 PM
Hmmm... I think I need to swap my alternator too...

But now that I look at it more, have you ever considered slightly bigger rims? 19s? Seems like there's a lil more wheel well you could fill and I think it'd look nicer.

On the other hand, perhaps it needs to be lowered a inch or two... I dunno... one or the other.

GreedyTurbo529
03-17-2010, 07:37 PM
Im not putting 19s on it. nuff said. But I am thinking of dropping it an inch.

I took T3kus idea of vlogging the project. lol. Ill post videos up when I do video worthy things.

First Video, the general rundown of the car. Did this after I got off work, so I wasnt really thinking very well. So I called like half the car "thing" or thingy" Plus I never used that camera before.

Oh and there is some water damage on the headliner. I forgot to mention that.

Funny Story:

I went to the gas station to get some fuel. And some people there pulled up and started looking at it from a distance. After a few minutes they walked up and said "Is that a Ferrari?" I told them it was not a Ferrari, started to explain the engine and drivetrain. Then some rednecks pulled up, and joined the conversation. Then one said ".... it looks like a banana" I laughed. A dude on 3si.org said the same thing a few days ago.

That color looks great, only bad thing is that cost a ton if you get it done right. Was $800 just to get mine repainted black and all the rust and dents taken out. And it was me getting $200 off. Candy Apple would be great though. Should for sure go with them rims, would really set it off. Keep up the work man.

Anyways, and update on the Stealth. My IAC (Idle Air Control) servo went bad on Monday, so Im not going to drive it till I get my new one, tomorrow. Bad IAC can make the ECU go bad. Hopefully all goes well. After that progress may be slow for the next few months. But I decided Im going to do a 99 3000GT conversion for the front bumper. keep the rest mainly stock. As in two stages of primer, two stages of paint, three stages of clear.
A normal, professional paintjob.

Cheaper paintjobs skimp on primer, paint and clear which will show within a year's time.

you get a better depth of colour when you build up a lot of layers too, like the less layers the less deep it looks, the more layers the better the colour. (i aint spelling the ****ING american way either, im english so dont tell me im spelling colour wrong, we invented the language.

In short, better quality and more layers. Because I want my shiz to be sexy and stay sexy for a long time. Cheaper stuff gets sun bathed and looks like crap. Plus like I said before, I just need the paint. I got the resources to do it myself, with some help from friends.

Its not in a game, its a guys car that let www.3si.org use his ride for the banner.

Update: It wasnt the IAC servo that need to be replaced. Well it did, but that wasnt the root problem. It was the harness for the rear bank injectors that went bad. I replaced it... it was a b***h because I had to take off my intake manifold to do it but it works now. :)

Well I dont hate rear spoilers, I just like them at the end of the trunk, not the front. And I kinda like the one on the gray 3S. If I did get another one it would probably be one that very low to the car, not sticking up above the roof, kinda along the lines of this.

http://www.andysautosport.com/images/detailed_product/exterior/wings/carbon_fiber_wings/cfs-mr55.jpg

But the chances of that happening are slim anyways.

Now about a month left till I start modding, created some dept when buying this thing and Im going to pay the dept off first. Figured Id get some wheels first and sell the ones that are currently on it. Then probably cat back exhaust, since I dont want to mess up the rear o2 sensor (I got precats on my downpipe too) and I dont want an air/fuel controller because thats too much of a hassle. May get a high flow cat though and or some headers. Oh I want side exhaust by the way. Similar to this guys.

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s45/michael041505/3S/DSC06526.jpg

Then do a 99 front end conversion, not too complicated for my year model. Then paint. After that, may get a front mount intercooler and a few other things.

That order is subject to change, and I may buy little trinkets and such in between. i.e. weighted shift knob.

Now about wheels. A few guys showed me some nice ones but i think Im going to go with the XXR 502s. But the actual color is still to be determined. Either hyperblack
http://www.wheelsnext.com/images/wheels/large/XXR_502_gbk_2.jpg

or machined with black

http://www.wheelsnext.com/images/wheels/large/XXR_502_MB_2.jpg

Thoughts? Keep in mind the general color of the car. Dark red (possibly sparkly) with some black racing stripes, tinted windows and black/dark grey interior.

Im leaning towards the machined with black myself.

I did my first actual race today against a Bentley Continental GT, was on my way home from work when it caught up to me on a 4 lane road and wanted to race. we slowed slowed to 40mph ready to go. he honked and we set off, we were side by side for a second the he slowly started to pull away, not by much though. We went up to 120 and he was about a car in a half in front of me. Even though I lost, I was proud of myself. You know since Bentley are Supercars and all. Dont have any real proof, but you can believe it or not. Doesnt make any difference to me.

Anyways, I was thinking. Stealths are 3800lbs/1700 kg Thats way too heavy for me. So I figured Im going to shave some weight off. Like Active areo, it doenst help out that much plus Im paranoid that Ill nail a dead opossum in the road and destroy the front air dam, maybe some other things too. And 4WS is going too. It doesnt help out that much and it adds an extra 200lbs. Plus lighter driveshaft, flywheel etc all will help in multiple ways too. The sub stays though. lol

You're doing it right. Me? Rear seats, out. Jack and tools, out. Jumper cables and shit, out. Spare tire, out. Sub stays though. haha.

3800 pounds is a lot. It's like 300lbs heavier than my car...stripping out is all good but just keep the stuff. I mean the active-aero and 4wheel steering and whatever. Someday you might wanna sell it and if you have it stripped out like that they'll be lowballing you and shit. This guy had this sickass built Camaro for like 4 grand and no one would buy it cause it was too stripped out for more people's taste.

Its mainly because because of AWD, 4WS, and all the electronic gizmos. ECS is staying because I like having Tour and Sport mode for that. But my Active Exhaust might go too. I decided against side because in order to run the pipes (properly) I would need to backtrack from the cat to before the transfer case so I can go around the DS not under because I may lower the car. Plus backtracking requires more pipe, more than just running it to the back, which means more weight. But yeah, Ill keep everything, maybe. Im not going to fully strip the car, just some things that are more trouble than their weight is worth.

You might want to consider that the Bentley is even heavier than your Stealth, at over 5,000lbs.

Yeah, go ahead with weight reduction. You might find this calculator helpful for a guide to how much your performance has increased:

http://www.torquecars.com/tools/quarter-mile-time.php

Edit: Using that, just the removal of the 4WS is almost the equivalent of another 19hp for a standing Quarter Mile.

5300lbs but it also has 550bhp and 470ft/lbs of torque so that makes up for it. And btw that calculator is kinda cool.

Small update: Apparently the guy who told me deleting 4ws could get me 200lbs was misinformed and Ill only get 30lbs from it. figures. But its still going because my 4ws steers the same way as the front wheels, for high speed lane changes, not cornering. 4ws is going because to the best of my knowledge, sometimes the car thinks Im changing lanes when im going around a turn at 80 and once it realizes Im indeed taking a corner it straightens up the rear wheels resulting in the rear of the car to "snap" or "fishtail" has happened to me multiple times already and yes Ive ended up in "the grass" because of it. It makes the car too unpredictable so its undoubtedly going. But I dont have the tools to do it, because its more than just taking off a few bolts. So Ill have to take it to 3SX and pay about $800 to have it done.

I just bought a 1994 Dodge Stealth R/T.

-125k miles on the car.
- 3.0L
- V6
- 24 Valve
- DOHC
- Twin Turbo, pushing 14 in/lbs according to the gauge
- 320HP
- 315 lb/ft
- 6 speed tranny
- AWD
- 4 Wheel Steering
- Active Areo, kicks in at 40mph I think, but the rear spoiler tilts according to the speed for more down force on the rear, plus an air dam drops close to the ground under the front bumper so less air gets up under the car.
- ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension) Ive got Tour mode and Sport mode. Tour softens the suspension for an easier less bumpy ride for daily driving/cruising. Sport stiffens the suspension for hi-performance driving.
- I forget what its called, but I got Sport and Tour mode for my exhaust too. Tour makes it quiet, and Sport makes it more free flowing and louder.

Now for the mods.
- Head Unit is a Power Acoustik PTID 4005 DVD/CD/MP3 and MP4 player
- All four speakers are Power Acoustik also. Fronts like 250W and the rear ones are 450W I believe.
- Wheels are 18" Touren TR5's with 245/40 Nexen tires

Only problems on the car is the alternator is going bad, easy fix. And there is a small oil leak I havent tracked down yet.

As soon as I fix my alternator Im going to install my Sony 10" sub... if it will fit.

Thats about it, now for pictures.

I thought the same thing, lol. Hes new. What does he know?

Anyways, trolls aside. I was doing the same thing I always do ... er, no not that, talking to people on 3Si... sicko. And i discovered that my calipers are rather large for a car. Didnt notice before but I do now. And just because a wheel will "fit" my car doesnt mean it will clear the calipers. Theres a very small range of offset (I forget the numbers) that will work for my car without looking ridiculous. The XXR 502 model I want, weve came to the conclusion that it will "probably" fit. But nothing is ever guaranteed when buying wheels for a VR4, apparently. So the best I can do is buy one, check if it fits, and hope to god I didnt just waste 200 bucks. Unless I can workout some deal at Discount Tire. But thats the status of that.

Now, next thing. I me debating on getting a fiberglass hood, 3si is helping but Im still iffy. If I got one it would be a Cianci Victory hood, its like a Viper hood for my car. plus with the scoop in the front, it has a tunnel going to my air filter so I can get fresh air, cause my engines too cramped to get it on its own.

Here. Knock yourselves out.

I only know of one hood for the Z32 with aero vents that function properly, so...

GreedyTurbo529

I dont want a carbon hood. I want a fiberglass ;) And maybe for your car its not worth it, but my stock hood is about 60lbs. Fiberglass is about 24lbs avg, and true carbon fiber is 14lbs avg. yeah...

And with the vents on the hood I want, its been recorded that it can drop manifold air temp by a solid 2.5 degrees. Which is sweet.

GreedyTurbo529

there are also different kinds of hood pins, more subtle ones. And its always a good idea to get some. Lets assume the hood popped going down the road and the 'safety' latch caught it, air can get up under it, and ti can rip off your 500-800 dolor fiberglass/carbon fiber hood, and damage the windshield, roof, and cars behind. So yeah, imma get some.

here are some more subtle pins then the usual ones people get.

GreedyTurbo529
05-21-2010, 04:07 PM
You clearly watched Twister recently. lol.

Its not a ricer excuse, its a safety matter. Simple as that. Ricers put the fake glue on ones on their stock hood to make it look "cool." Im getting the real ones because its proven to help, its strongly recommended, and I dont want to loose my 800 dollar hood due to bad advise from a forum member. /debate on hood pins.

Are you putting a race seat, a roll cage and a 5 point seat belt in the car too? Those are safety matters as well.

Roll cage? In that case, better add a helmet to that list.

Anyway, I'm all for the '99 GT bumper. 3000s from that year are pretty hot. However, I'm not so sure about the gas cap relocation...I prefer stock body-color doors over satin or chrome fixtures. Were you planning to get something like the photo you posted, or did you have something different in mind?

t3ku
05-22-2010, 02:02 AM
A full rollcage should only be used on a track, on the street it can cause more harm than good if you were to get hit. I'm sure driving around town wearing a helmet all the time would get very tiring.

You could do a halfcage or a rollbar, but a full cage would be a bad idea.
^this directed at anyone.

Also a 5point belt would be useless without at least a rollbar to mount the belt to, otherwise it can constrict and do a lot of bodily damage...

Regarding the hood pins, aftermarket hoods are RARELY made to OE spec and thus don't always shut right or completely lack the ability to latch to the OEM point where the original hood would. Hood pins on an aftermarket hood is a good idea to insure that the hood is held down.

GreedyTurbo529
05-22-2010, 05:29 PM
Were you planning to get something like the photo you posted, or did you have something different in mind?

Nah its the same thing, it comes in a kit.

No sort of roll cage is going in it. No real point. But I was thinking of some crash bars from 3SX. one beind the front bumper and one behind the rear. People suck at driving around here and I dont want their stupidity to ruin my car either. Gotta do more research on the before I decide to get them or not.

Bumpers still on the way. On Saturday Im going to have a Mitsu enious take a look at my car to see any anything isnt the way its supposed to be, that I havent noticed. Only things Ive found were: tranny leaks (small), engine oil leaks somewhere (small to moderate) and thats bout it. Oh and Im dropping by my local Dodge dealership to double check that the recall on the transfer case has been done, just to be safe.

GreedyTurbo529
06-05-2010, 07:56 PM
I went to the Mitsu man today. In summary, Im leaking fluid from my front steering rack somewhere between moderate and a lot (new rack $400). Im leaking a mild amount of tranny fluid from the top, where the forks go into the tranny. And my oil cooler leaks too moderate. Both of those are unknown prices. On a lighter note, the carrier bearings arnt near as worn as I thought. yay. I was wanting to take some pictures of underneath the car but my camera was currently borrowed so I couldnt.

Your plan of attack for this car is retarded. You have vital fluids leaking and you've just shelled out money for a new bumper? What the **** was wrong with your stock one? A new hood complete with hood pins? Why?

Listen, kid. The cost of a boost controller is way cheaper then the cost of reducing weight. It'll make your car push the same amount of numbers as weight reduction will for a lot less money. You want handling? Invest in a pair of strut bars, springs, and Bilsteins shocks. Unless you want to go for the fully and get coilovers. ALL cheaper then gutting your 4WS, AWD, hoods, Aero enhancement, and the other weight reductions plans you had.

You can start modding? You're gonna start running this piece of shit into the ground if you keep this up. Fix your vitals and 'restore' this thing before you buy bumpers, hood pins, and whatever other artificial shit you had planned.

GreedyTurbo529
06-05-2010, 09:30 PM
Lets just clarify a few things. First Im no kid. Next, I dont post everything here so dont act like you know whats all really going on with the car, or my plans, or anything like that. Next, Dont act like you know my budget. Next, I jumped the gun with the bumper I know that but still, its all in the budget. Next the things Im taking off like 4ws and AA are more trouble than their worth, so they go. AWD stays :P New hood and stuff comes later, Im getting one cause it shaves weight up front and it adds more "flair" without being over the top. Boost controller yeah, later, still looking in to that. And trust me I know about the maintenance before mods. Its all being taken care of. So just sit back and relax. Appreciate the concern though.

Primus
06-05-2010, 09:48 PM
Alright, sport; it's your car.

I just have a question, though. If all this crap is in the budget, why didn't buy an example in better shape?

GreedyTurbo529
06-06-2010, 08:52 AM
Not sure what you mean by "example." If you mean a car in better shape, then its cause this one is in good shape. the rack is the only real issue, the other two are just minor things (minor cause they arnt leaking that much, and I stay on top of my fluids, just to be safe) imma fix so there is no problems. Other than those things, its in really good condition, and has low miles for a 1994. Plus the AWD model of these cars arnt exactly common around here.

Im going to get all the work done in two weeks. Figured Id take advantage of this and get some other stuff replaced too. Let me explain so no one freaks out. I honestly dont know if/when anything has been replaced. If they have never been replaced Im sure their nice and old and crappy. The guy I got the car from said it just got serviced but I dont trust him. So Im going to replace some of the common things that need to be replaced (e.g. water pump, all belts, cam seals, crank seal, etc) One so I can get a starting point to know when things need replacing, and two to fix them before they break. Mitsu man works at a dealership and hes getting everything using all sorts of discounts. And business is slow for them so hes pretty desperate for money, so labor is $400. Total its going to be about $1400 for everything, which is pretty freaking good.

And I figured id clarify that Mitsu man is my brother in laws cousin. But hes some what of my friend as well. I was going to have him look at the Stealth when I got it but he was out of town. I had him check it out as soon as he got back. Hes got 14 years of experience at Mitsu and hes been a mechanic/technician his whole life. He currently works for Kia. lol.

And one last thing. Theres this event called "Blue Ridge Gathering" or BRG for short. Im going to it and bringing my TT with me. Its a 3si.org event but we let whoever come really. Anyone here is on or close to the east coast of America is welcome. http://georgia3s.com/BRG/ As of now my bro in law and sister are coming and their bringing up their Honda Magna. And two of my friends may go too, one with a Turbo Subbi and a BMW 740 and the other with a modded Focus ZX4 (not riced) So well see. I may record my trip with the good ol video camera, well see.

BTW, Im adding a light weight crank pulley ($120) and some Adjustable cam gears ($300) to the service Im about to do, its been delayed a week or two, cause the dude isnt available for the original week.

The crank pulley is NOT an underdrive pulley, its stock size, its just aluminum. and is 5 pounds lighter

http://www.3sx.com/store/catalog/pulley-crank-3sx-07-silver-250.jpg

The cam gears are mainly for show actually, Imma get a clear TB cover made (later) where you can see the gears. Plus their lighter and I may adjust them in the future but for now, set at 0.

Im getting the Red ones. Maybe white/silver.

Oh and figured Id also tell you guys, cause I think I somehow forgot to mention this. Im going mainly for show, not performance. Cause it has plenty as it is, and there arnt any places to actually legally race a car and not pay $2000 a year for a license. But still I may get slightly bigger turbos, and a boost controller and a few other things for power. I want to get more more of the 320bhp to the wheels cause AWD takes away a lot between the crank and wheels. And i want to fix that. It costs more but Ill be happy. And I want to make the car lighter cause I dont want it to be a heavy *** 3800lb tank. nuff said. Thats the gist.

I meet a guy with a 2JZ Supra. I pulled up at walmart at about 11 at night get out of my car, start to walk twards the door when this Supra pulled up next to me. He says "Is that a TT?" I tell him "hell yeah, you got a 2JZ?" He then parks next to my car, we pop hoods and talk for a while. Found out the Supra is his girls car. Who came walking out of walmart shortly after, and they both have a Stealth and a 3000GT Spyder. Us three start talking and a fox body mustang 5.0 pulls up, we start chatting some more. The Supra couple told us about a site called www.elitedriven.com (http://www.elitedriven.com) and their shows and they like my shiz and wanted me to join, cause there arnt many Stealth TTs in my area. They even gave me a business card. I was giggling like a little school girl on the inside, but I kept my composer. Figured Id share that. You guys might be hearing more about this site. Heres the Supra.

Crazy cool, gotta love meeting people who are into car scenes like that. We have a local one that happens every week, its pretty crazy all the time.

Love your car, I almost took a trade for a JDM 3000GT for my WRX a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it isn't the most practical car for my needs so I had to turn it down. :\

Elitedriven.com is dead, (only 1 post in two weeks) not much more is going to be said about it. But the experience was still pretty cool.

On to more interesting stuff. I ordered my cam gears (Fidanza) and crank pulley (3SX) from 3sx yesterday. Hopefully it wont turn out like the bumper and take a month. lol. 3sx is only 4-5 hours away from my house anyway, so it should only be a few days. And Im getting all the work done July 10ish. And on a better note, I get a pretty good raise (in pay) at work that takes effect this Monday.

Also want to add about Elitedriven.com is full of ricers.

Anyways today was a good day. I worked OT at work, found out my raise kicked in last week (and I worked 10.5 hours of OT last week, nice paycheck for sure) a 05+ Mustang GT wanted some, so I put 2 buses on him from a light on the way home. And when I got home, I found my goodies in a box at the front door. :) Mitsu man will install/fix everything I talked about starting next Saturday, I may end up helping him.

The pen isnt near as cool (or off the wall) as that orange frog head thing next to the belts. Plus I lost the pen already.

Edit: I found the pen. I started to look at it cause I didnt check it out before. But it is pretty off the wall too ("off the wall" means random) it has a picture of a cartoon guy stealing a pen and it says "This Pen Has Been Stolen From:" then it says 3sx and their contact info.

Figured Id give an update, since Im hear reading my warnings and all :P

Car is currently being worked on, I helped Monday after work, we took off the timing belt covers and the belt was literally going to give in a few hundred miles. It was dry rotted, threads showing, the whole nine. Cam Seals and Crank seal are the same way, Im going to assume that every other seal is like that too. So Im going to get pretty much every seal/gasket/pretty much everything replaced or most at least. Id like to get a new block but thats quite a bit of money. ... Just remembered Mitsu Mans discount abilities >:) maybe not.

Also, A few of my friends have bikes, (e.g. Ninja 650, Honda Magna 750, CBR 600, R6) And the CBR guy says "a car could never out run/keep up with a bike, itll take a 2,000 hp, 3000lb car to do that." So Ive decided Im going to open his eyes a bit. Not going to mention what Ill do yet, still researching anyway. Plus I dont want people to freak out like a few have already.

Oh and a side note: Good pay at work + shit load of OT + life events = perfect timing for money to mod stealth.

Figured Id post some interesting facts too.

1) There was a recall for the transfer case on my car back in 2002, stock had an aluminum housing, and it would crack a lot. All the fluid would leak out, resulting in all wheels locking up, some at highway speeds. Recall replaced the aluminum one with a steel housing. Mines been done.

2) There was a recal for the front brake lines. They were originally too short. People would push brakes, lines would pop off. Mines been done.

3) The blow off valve leaks boost, resulting in loss of power, and often malfunctions while purging, resulting in the boost pressure causing the y pipe to blow off, resulting in total car shut down. Happened to me once, but I got a screwdrive in my car.

I love my rolling Mitsu engineered death trap.

Got my car back. Its a lot better now. :D Total came to be about $1100 for OEM parts + $600 Mods + $400 labor (yeah thats right) = $2100

everything that was done:

Replaced with OEM:
cam seals
cam bolts
crank seal
crank bolt and washer (30 damn bucks for a freakin bolt and washer)
outer tie rods
water pump/gasket
timing belt
timing belt auto tensioner
front steering rack
oil cooler lines
i think thats abut it.

Mods:
Cam gears
Crank pulley
Gator Back belts

Services:
4wheel alignment
Patched R/R tire, it apparently got a puncture on the way down. (patched NOT plugged)
He gave me new oil too, but he put 10-30 in it and I want 5-30, that bugs me but its ok, for now.

The seals at the top of the tranny arnt that bad at all, barely anything really. So Ill fix that when I get a clutch. Cause the tranny needs to come out and apart to replace the seals.

I thinks thats about it. Anw we got the maintenance out of the way. Next up will probably be the fuel door relocation, hood, then paint. However I an getting some 1.5" Tien S Tech lowering springs at BRG on the 31st. I wont put them on yet but I cant help getting that kinda deal for piratically new springs 8)

Thanks! I managed to get some action shots, from photographers on the Dragon, of my car around the turns. Ill post those up once the high res ones come in the mail.

Its funny the day I got back to work I stepped on a nail and it went all the way to the tendons in my foot, so I could barely walk for damn near a week. Perfect timing actually. Cause I think Ive spent close to 30 hours in just editing the videos. Total its about a 1hr 40min video split up into pieces, about 10 mins each. Im starting to upload it all now. Though it may take a while, rendering takes about 30 mins and uploading to YouTube takes about 2 hours, I hate compressing videos. Ill make another post in a day or two once its all done.

In the mean time, heres the suspension I got at BRG

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/tbrobertson17/STechs.jpg

Their Tien S Techs. Got them for $125 with less than 10k on them, new their about $350. Thinking about trying to get them powder coated, if they can be.

Tein now offers TWO affordable spring kits for the 3000GT/Stealth all-wheel drive platform. The S.Tech springs are their more aggressive sport line, rated to lower the car about 1.5" in the front and 1.3 in the rear. The H.Tech springs... suck. The Teins are the only springs that come with the coil cushions to help prevent "spring chatter" when you hit bumps while driving and causing the spring coils to hit each other.

And I ordered the fuel door kit a few days ago. And a multi tool to do some custom work to my trunk, bumper and such.

About the trunk, Imma take the spare tire out and all that and cut certain little compartments down that hold that big cardboard piece up, in short it will lower the sub and all. Why? Cause I can.

Anyways, sorry it took so long to get the vids up. Youtube sucks and they kept muting them. But I Win! Its 1hr 45 mins long with 36 songs. I made a freakin movie!

Ill just post up the first video, you can figure it out from there.

Now that BRG is totally over with, its time for an update on the Stealth.

---- WARNING: Long story plus rant-----

So Im going to start at the beginning cause thats a pretty good place to start...

The week after BRG my mom got into a wreck. Her and another car were turning right from a 4 lane road onto another 4 lane road. Theres a "Keep Moving" sign, self explanatory, and there is an extra lane for the people to run on for a hundred feet, then they merge. They were going bout 20-25mph and dude (in a mini van) in front of my mom (in a 02 Intrepid) decided to stop, like a dead stop, even though no cars were coming. My mom didnt stop in time and Boom! The cop said it was both their faults cause the guy didnt obay the sign and she rear ended him, so they were both told to go f themselves. Classic USA justice. Here radiator was messed up, plus the fans, something with the A/C, motor mounts, and a few other things. Total is about $600 in parts, I think its more, but well just say 6. And since her husband (my stepdad) sucks, he blows all the money they make on stupid shit. She has 0 money. She battled with insurance for a few weeks, classic USA justice. So I gave her the $1000 I was about to buy my hood stuff with, a few days ago, to pay for the parts, Ill probably fix it for her too. And today, my clutch died, well its not fully dead yet. I was a little hard on it at BRG. Going into BRG it was good, after it was a 'meh' and its a cheap ebay brand anyway, came with the car. Long story short with this, I got stuck in serious traffic and my clutch was like screw this and now I can barley tap the throttle and it will slip in every gear, the peddle has to be let out all the way for it to grab, cant use the turbos, and I can barley maintain 60mph. So yeah its dead. Now onto repairing it.

Ill be damned if I do it myself. I felt like a bum letting Mitsu man replace my water pump and such but theres no way Im dropping a tranny on a transverse AWD. I did my clutch on my Prelude in college and that was hell enough. The Stealth has a t case, a ds, and its turbocharged, in short more shit to take off. Problem is Mitsu man cant do it for certain personal reasons, he recommended me to a guy who he takes his cars to, for tranny work. Im going to call that guy up when I get his number. I got $600 right now, $1100 on Thursday. But the problem with that is, since I got to get a new clutch I figure I might as well upgrade to a stage 2 because OEM doesnt last long on my car, according to 3Si. So thats $500. And the flywheel will need to be, correction, should be resurfaced. But I hate resurfaced stuff, Id rather replace it. But if I replace it might as well pay and extra $100 for a Fidanza 12lb instead of my 20lb. Because Ill end up doing that anyway. That means Id have to wait till Thursday to get the parts, take the car somewhere this weekend. But then I got the tranny to think of. The leaking seals. Dont know how much that would be I have to talk to the guy about it. My head hurts....

Moral of the story, dont buy cheap crap off Ebay, you get what you pay for.

t3ku
08-22-2010, 10:40 PM
Ebay parts are CRAP, the only ebay part on my car is my intake piping and thats only because I refuse to pay 200+ for injen pipes that do nothing more than improve looks. I would never, EVER, buy an ebay clutch, the majority of people on 300zxclub that have bought them have had no problems, UNTIL they laid into the power and then *popping sounds from tranny* as their clutch self destructed.

I would recommend the Fidanza flywheel, thats what I'm going to be getting when I get the money, for now I'm stuck with my 20lb OEM crap. The Fidanza is a really good brand and part, heard nothing but good about it.

I do know from local DSM'rs that most OEM VR4 stuff is prone to breaking on it's own, most everyone replaces the performance parts with aftermarket asap, Mitsu really dropped the ball with this car, it's nice... just not made well.

As for a mechanic, check the 3si or dsm forum in your area and see about a local competent mechanic, they are few and far... but I know Z1 is in Ga and they work on other cars besides Zs, but I'm sure there are more.

GreedyTurbo529
08-23-2010, 04:10 PM

And my car is not a DSM ;)

GreedyTurbo529
08-23-2010, 05:24 PM
So I talked to the guy. Looks like Im taking another detour twards getting my car painted.

We'll call this guy Mr. Tranny. $300 labor to replace the clutch, an extra $200 - $300 to take the tranny apart. Im thinking of getting a Fidanza stage 2.1 Carbon/Kevlar mix ($500) the 2.1 part kinda weird but whatever.

http://www.3sx.com/store/catalog/clutch-fidanza-21-stockpic.jpg

But Im still looking into that, defiantly getting an aftermarket though. Im defiantly getting a Fidanza 12lb flywheel ($350)

http://www.3sx.com/store/catalog/flywheel-fidanza-tt-05-200.jpg

What can I say? I like Fidanza. Replacing the rear main seal too, might as well. It would be out of budget, buuuut 3SX is freakin awesome.

3SX has a "Beat the Heat" Discount during summer time. 10% discount on everything, including shipping! So what would cost me just over $900 is now just barley over $800. $100 goes a long way  And I talked to my manager at work, who is is a serious Dodge fan (hes got a 69 Super Bee and a new Challenger) and hes pretty damn cool. Hes letting me work more OT so I may just pull this off and have everything done in two weeks.

And thats wht I call turning a frown upside down.

Kinda hope the turbos break :D

Would also look into ACT for a clutch, just compare prices and tq lbs, my ACT is rated at 400lbs and I got it used with 1k miles for 150 bucks...

GreedyTurbo529
08-26-2010, 12:11 AM
Just orderded the clutch and flywheel. The fly is the 12lb Fidanza. But I decided to go with a SPEC Stage 2 clutch, Kevlar disk, Sprung hub, 561 ft/LB capacity. Which is better that the Fidanza clutch, and $50 cheaper. Plus it had a better rep.

http://www.3sx.com/store/catalog/clutch-spec-na-stage2-01-320.jpg

So I knocked my $820 bill down to about $770

Im dropping the car off tomorrow. Im going to attempt driving it down. However, the guy is in a heavily traveled city. It sucked though cause I seen 2 base 3000s (one was a total pos but still) a new mustang GT and a convertible one (gt?) a few riced FWDs and a seriously kick *** NSX with HIDs and Black on black. And I couldnt play with any of them cause my clutch. :/ Now its the waiting game.

Update: I refunded the fuel door kit from Cianci because it wanst going anywhere. For some reason my order status has said "processing" for a month now. Dont know why but I got them to refund the $278 so I can pay for fixing my tranny. Still awaiting a call on what needs to be fixed for that. Anyways, back to the fuel door kit, I discovered its just a Sparco fuel door with an extra long tube from Cianci thats all the kit was. So Imma custom make it

Another Update: My car was finished 2 days ago. I decided to drop off the carrier bearings for the drive shaft yesterday, he put them on today. I origionaly wasnt going to worry about it, but I decided to. I pick up the Stealth tomorrow. Just in time for Afterlife. Now I can roll in style.

Also, surprisingly enough, 3Si has never had a 'Members Rides' forum. We kinda just made threads wherever. But they now have a My Garage' feature. Its self-explanatory. Not sure if non-members can see them but heres the link anyway. http://www.3si.org/forum/garage/1083 It basically says everything thats in my first post on this thread.

Funny story time.

I went to go get the Stealth. When I got there Mr. Tranny wasnt in. Since it was at a shop, other people were there. So the guy behind the counter asked how much Mr. Tranny charged me do do the work, he Didnt know cause it was a 'side job' Mr. Tranny just worked on it at the shop. Anyways, I told him it was $1150, which is what Mr. T said last night. He called Mr. T to verify. He talked to him and got a puzzled look on his face. He gave me the phone and said youd better talk to him. Something I havent mentioned before, is Mr. T talks like boomhauer, so you cant understand a damn word he says.
For thos who dont know, this is boomhauer

Pg3krAEq_a8&feature=related

In sort Mr. T said it was $650 not $1150. WIN!

So its paid for and all, then I gotta back the car out of the shop.

Let me just say, when I first bought the car the clutch engaged at about half way down the peddle, then when I drove it last, it engaged just before the peddle was all the way out. This new clutch, however, engages as soon as you start to let the peddle out, and it engages like a son of a b**h plus with the light weight flywheel it has more of an 'effect' when you engage it not to mention the clutch is a stage 2 plus :D I didnt stall it but it sure was a bucking bronco when backing out. My buddy that drove me down was laughing his *** off, while pointing and shouting smart *** comments. Oh but it gets better.

You see I was in a city with 6 lane roads. I got use to it quick but I did stall it once. :D Oh but theres more. We get to the freeway where the speed limit is 65mph so I punch it. And I hear a faint "Pop" and my car is trying to die on me. And the boost gauge goes to max when I tap the throttle. I knew exactly what it was... the mother effin Y pipe blew off again cause mi crappy BOV design. I had tools and it was a quick fix. I did in the the emergency lane. And this is on a 8 lane highway. Then when I fixed it. From a dead stop I floored it and I forgot how this thing takes off. ever hear that phrase "like a bat out of hell" ... yeah...

So its all done now.

And I got a plan to do some performance upgrades, body work, and paint at the same time. Ill explain later. Now Im off to see 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' in IMAX 3D

... after I give my baby an nice washing, stupid pine tree..

Nice on the bill^ Less is ALWAYS better.

Get better turbo piping, lmfao...
Only time I've seen/heard of piping popping off of a Z32 is under 20lbs of boost and a weak clamp, so slightly design flaw on mitsu's part me thinks.

If you got sap on the car, I would claybar it nao and wax.

GreedyTurbo529
09-10-2010, 03:38 PM
That may be part, but the biggest part, not %100 sure, is the BOV not opening sometimes, resulting in pressure building in the pipes and having no where to go. Causing the Y pipe to blow off. But your suggestion wouldnt surprise me either...

And I cleaned the car just after my last post ;)

With the money left over, I decided to take advantage of 3SXs 'Labor Day Sale' Only some items were on sale, luckily some things on the list I will be needing soon for the plan I dont feel like explaining, I bought the following:

- 3SX Custom Stainless Steel Intake Y-Pipe.. on sale for $75, usually $100
- 3SX Adjustable Rear Control Arms.. on sale for $120, usually $150
- Big Bore Lash Adjusters/Hydraulic Lifters.. on sale for $110, usually $160

My stock lifter design sucks, no surprise, these new lifters Im getting are for a '99 GT, its a common swap people do. The pic speaks for itself..

The Y pipe is a little less quality than what I was expecting. Look at the welds. Ill probably get it powder coated, that should fix it.

Me again:

I was looking on 3Si about BOVs and such and I discovered that my source regarding my Y pipe issue was incorrect. So here goes nothing...

My Y pipe blows off cause of the clamp, yeah the clamp, getting a T bolt clamp will fix the issue. T bolts came with my new one  The problems with the BOVs on 3Ss in that they have a tendency to leak, most of the time they dont till 16psi. And as of now, I probably wont be getting an HKS SQV, or any atmospheric BOV. Cause stock my car has a closed loop BOV, aka resuscitating, the excess air goes back through the system. If I release that air into the atmosphere, than the car will run rich when shifting and such cause the ECU is still putting the extra fuel in for the air that is no longer resurrecting trough the system. Plus recirculating makes turbos spool back up faster, wich is always a plus.

I just ordered a k&N filter though. The stock air box is not welcome under my hood anymore.

Its funny 3Si has a way of making me feel like a dumb ***.

I dont get this video at all... AWS does nothing but help you turn and handle better, but according to this video, the rear wheels turn the direction it shouldn't. That dude's got a problem, or he somehow adjusted it on purpose as a joke or something.

GreedyTurbo529
09-22-2010, 06:26 PM
no thats the way it works, actually. Its pretty much for high speed lane changes. When under load, you dont have to turn the weel as far for them to work. ... yep its dumb.

The AWS system is same phase, meaning the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels when it activates. The AWS is controlled by a system of valves at the rear differential. There's a valve that limits the AWS to above a certain speed, so it doesn't make parking more difficult. There's also a valve that activates the AWS based on a pressure differential from the two feed lines from the front power steering rack.

The system is extremely stable for lane changes, and helps keep the rear end in check in corners. Professional drivers that have tested the AWS through slaloms say it makes the car feel "different" but they say it's also easier to go faster because the rear end doesn't slide out like it would with no AWS.

One thing I hate is when In going around a turn and the AWS decides to work for a second then reset itself. Makes the back end kick out a little. Its uncomfortable as hell. Not to mention confusing, hence the control arms I just bought.

Thats odd... Never really looked into that much... Kinda thought it was like a weaker version of the AWS you see on Monster trucks... interesting.

Prelude and 240 AWS is, but the 3S just HAS to be different, I guess.

Another update: I started working on lowering my trunk floor, I explained in page 3 I think, but Ill make a video later, too much to type. And I kind of went on a shopping spree on 3SX cause apparently they have a rewards system, and I got some extra discounts! I got the following:

Spark Plugs - NGK Copper Set of 6 - $25
Plug Wires - MSD Wires - $50
Air Intake - K&N Intake Filter Kit - $200
E-Brake Boot - Black - $30
Oil Pickup Strainer, Bolts, and Gasket - $30

Then I got some Dynamat Xtreme Sound Deadening padding to put around the truck and such. Cause my Sub needs to be tamed. $35

Recently I did this, blah blah blah, watch the video. *Motion Sickness Warning*

Well that didnt take as long as I thought.

So I just got a bonus for, in short, being a bad *** painter. Instead of doing the responsible thing, like saving the money, Im going to use the money to powdercoat/detail the engine. yeah. Not telling you guys the colors. :P youll have to wait and see. It wont be the whole engine bay, but a nice chunk will be coated, including but not limited to: upper intake manifold, lower intake manifold, fuel rails, water housing, Y pipe, cruise control cover and some other things. Getting powdercoated parts Maximal Parformance, its small company ran by a 3Si member, but everyone on 3Si gets their powdercoating done from him. Though my stuff I want coated, he doesnt want to attempt cause it will be 'piratically impossible' for it to look good. But Ill do some custom work of my own. :cool4:

BTW, I decided to do some powdercoating because I need to replace my spark plugs and wires, their 15k miles overdue. I have to take off my upper intake manifold to do that. While thats off, figured Id replace the lifters with the better design, one thing lead to another.

Update:

Ill explain later, but because of issues with getting the required parts. The powdercoating wont be as thorough as I had originally hoped. And my slave cylinder is deciding it wants to die too. But its ok, because its a Stealth.

GreedyTurbo529
11-11-2010, 08:05 PM
So I made a discovery, my slave has always been bad. Thats why my clutch died rather quick. In short bad slave means its not pushing the clutch disk as hard as it should, so it doesnt fully disengage, wich is not good. It wasnt as noticeable before cause it was a stock pressure plate, but with my upgraded one... you get the picture. I ordered a slave cylinder, speed bleeder (makes it a one man job) master cylinder repair kit, and a clutch line from 3SX. Replacing it all tomorrow.

As for the powdercoating, its coming along. I couldnt get as much as I wanted because Maximal doesnt have all the core parts. And I cant just pop mine off my DD for 2 weeks. So hes coating the fuel rails, valve covers, the upper intake manifold, and my Y pipe that I got from 3SX a while back. Im getting some paint that looks just like the colors Im getting from Maximal, and Ill paint the rest of the engine bay myself. And Im getting a set of his solid motor mounts too, solid steel baby. My engine wont budge, meaning more power to ground 8) plus their half the price than stock mounts. lol And when I get the stuff from Maximal, Ill change my plugs, wires, oil, oil strainer, and a few other things with it. After that its hood, fuel door and paint. Seriously this time.

Thats all for now.

Rule of thumb, when replacing your clutch... you should always replace the slave, drain the fluids and replace any associated seals. Ya bad slave can wear a new clutch down in just a few thousand miles... Least you found out before your current got destroyed, those arnt cheap to buy or replace, I got lucky with a 150 buck ACT 6puck.

... You have no idea. Actually, being a Z owner, you probably do. Ill show this shiz in a video later.

I just got it all replaced and back together. Apparently there is a gasket between the master and firewall, I didnt know this. It was also old and ripped. So I did a redneck trick of taking the bad gasket off, put an overly heavy coat of silicone on both sides, put the gasket back on. Judge me if you will. And I managed to drop my damn 10mm crows foot, I bought for $20, in a spot where I cant get it unless I pull the motor. lol. I managed to get the job done without it. Hopefully it works, Im about to go drive it around.

GreedyTurbo529
11-15-2010, 06:53 PM
Ok a real update this time (instead of me just saying FFFUUU, lol)

The slave was shot, the master was even worse, and the clutch line was practically clogged. Thats all fixed. But I traded the clutch problem for no AC because I had to take the line off to get the master out. And on the last bolt I started daydreaming about my powdercoating and I kept on wrenching and wrenching... and wrenching. Not even thinking (you can see where this is going) and POP! the stud twisted off.

http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/4875/fuuuuuuuuuuuu.th.jpg

:D Its not THAT big of a deal because it was the bracket that holds the battery in place, I broke the stud that it mounts to, Ill show it later. The batt doesnt slide much so itll be ok for now. And speaking of powdercoating, Maximal says he ran out of [blank] color and the company he gets them from wont be able to get it to him till sometime this week. And that color is a base for everything Im getting, except for my intake manifold. So yeah that holds me up. And Ive ordered some stuff from 3SX, a little dress up but its mostly fluids and such. Once I get the stuff from Maximal Ill do some more work to it. Hopefully not mess anything up.

BTW Im getting a tool kit too. Mine isnt cutting it anymore.

Oh btw. I have the money for my hood. But Im going to wait till after I get my stuff from Maximal to order it. And once I send my cores back to him, for the core charge, Ill have my fuel door money. Then you know what happens after that. ;)

Got a funny story...

I was coming home from work today, windows down. I was in some light traffic, on a 4 lane road, with a late 80s Comaro behind me. There were two guys in it, looked like they were in high school. We came appon a red light that cought me, however the person next to me gunned through. So the Comaro jumped in the other lane and was beside me, stopped at the light. I was minding my own business when I started to hear what sounded like a fart can. I looked over at them through their partly cracked window, and they were looking at me laughing and making fart can noises with their mouths. Basically implying that I was a ricer.

The first thing that went through my mind was "Oh Hell NO! I Know Those *** Holes Arnt Calling Me A Ricer!" I continued staring at them. They rolled down their window and said "You got a problem, ricer?" I only replied with "You want to put your money where your mouth is?" The driver said "My car would smoke that 4 cylinder POS!"
By now Im like, yeah they have no idea what Im packing  So I decided to steal a quote from Tokeyo Drift and said "How about your dads Comaro?" That pissed the driver off and he yelled "$50 AND YOUR ON *****" I had the money cause I was on my way to pick up Hot Pursuit (appropriate, lol) I said "Be ready to pay me"

Light turns green I take off somewhat hard, I didnt do a full launch because there was no use. And the Comaro well, put his RPMs to high for launch and roasted his tires like a moron. I put 2 buss on him and figured it was enough. I saw him turn down a road in my side mirror. My final say was "... ricer."

The End

I paid for the powdercoating/solid mounts today, $450 plus $200 in core charges. Yeah, Maximal has kick *** prices. So yeah, hood in sight... finally.

And I actually made progress for paint today. I got 2 people willing to help one is guaranteed to do it, with a heated booth, so it can be painted in the winter (painting in cold sucks ***) but he tends to not be as meticulous as he used to be. The other is a little in the air but he has the best quality, may have a painted booth, not sure (Ill buy a bunch of heater if I have too! lol) And I may have stumbled onto some pearl red paint. The mounts came in today. They seem pretty solid.

Get it? cause their solid mounts. lol. Anyways, Maximal shipped the powdercoated stuff separate, not sure why but whatever. Ill get those soon.

And I looked under my car today to check up on my oil pan. Because a dented oil pan is the number 1 cause of spun bearings on my car. And if that happens, bye bye to the motor. So obviously, I like to check up on my baby. And guess what... somehow, somewhere I managed to get dented. It was fine last month. But now its dented. Not that bad but a dent in a dent. New oil pan is ordered from 3SX already for about $150.

Ive been working on the car for a few days now (like 5 hours a day) In theory Im a third of the way done, but if you consider the work thats involved with it, Im just over half. Ive been recording videos here and ther and Ill post them up when its done. But the fuel rails, and valve covers, plugs wires. Are fully on, got everything painted that i was going to paint. Juts gotta finish bolting the manifold down, replace all the fluids and do the motor mounts. Though I cant replace the back one because I got a transfer case in the way. So Im going to replace three and, next time I get Mitsu Man to work on it (after paint) Ill have him do it.

Its no secrete that my oil pan is dented, ant thats the number 1 cause of spun bearings on my car. (Yeah its going there) Well, to get my dented oil pan off, the TC has to be droped allong with the down pipe, like this:

Looks like Im dropping the TC... Damn IT!!

Edit:

I got the TC off. Tried replacing the rear mount. 3 hrs later I said fnuk it. I discovered a new way but Ill do it later...

So while ordering stuff to rebuild my injectors, I figured Id throw in the injector clip. Thats the part that helps keep the injector on the fuel rail while your putting it on. It doesnt help a whole lot because the injector stays on the rail by itself, the clip just guarantees itll stay. Well I got an email from 3SX saying the following "

"Thank you for ordering with 3SX. We are currently out of the fuel injector clip. It is on order and when we receive it your order will be shipped."

I told them to forget the clip, send the rest.

I like to think mines a domestic. :D

But yeah imports arnt too bad if you buy one thats not 17 years old, isnt over crammed, and has warranty. Also doesnt help that a good portion of parts has been discontinued from Mitsu. So some parts I cant get new unless someone, like 3SX, gets them made. And it also doesnt help that AutoZone has to special order half of my parts, the other half they dont carry. lol.

Speaking of, I officially hate Xmas now. Fukkin delays.

They told me that, apparently UPS rescheduled my order to tomorrow. They were going to contact UPS and refund me my shipping charges (aka free shipping)

UPS called me a few minuets ago and told me they have my package at the local warehouse, about a 20 min drive for me. And told me they had no available drivers, the soonest they cold get to me would be tomorrow. Or I could just pick it up. Having a buddy pick it up.

ZOFG! The Shit Works! Since last night. I got it all together, then had to take it all apart (twice) due to crimped wires. Test drove it this morning and it works! Only issue is an exhaust leak for the EGR pipe, Ill fix it over time, but... THE SHIT WORKS!! My next post here (in a few days) will be rather interesting...

Take it from me, man. Broken exhausts have their faults, but they also have their fun.

GreedyTurbo529
01-05-2011, 09:50 PM
Well its not exactly a few days later, nor will this post be the type of "interesting" that was expected...

The exhaust leak wasnt too bad for a few days, but is progressively getting worse. And now the cabin of the car gets fill up with exhaust, through the air vents. Not to mention the Speed Racer style smoke screen I leave behind. lol. Needless to say its grounded again. Ive tried tracking it down and fixing it but its proving to be rather resilient, and its been pissing me off. So I havent taken any pics or videos of the powder coating yet cause I just get mad when looking at it.

So how do I plan on resolving this issue? Truth is... I dont, Im tired of dealing with it. So I called Mitsu Man and now, depending on price, were looking at fixing the smoking issue (primarily), rebuilding the turbos, putting on the solid mounts, replacing the struts, and put on the Tien S Tech thatll drop the car about 1.5", delete the 4WS, possibly replace the valve stem seals, and a few other trinkets. lol Its like going to Walmart, always coming out with more stuff than you wanted to buy.

I swear Ill get this thing painted eventually.

GreedyTurbo529
01-10-2011, 09:23 PM
Update: Im just going to get the struts done (with the 4ws delete and lowering springs) and that smoking problem fixed, what ever it is. Was going to take the car down to Mitsu Man today but....

Update: (in a nut shell) Having issues getting the struts in. Mitsh man doesnt want to delete the 4ws anymore after overlooking what he has to do. lol. Lifters are getting done, and the engine bay smoking is fixed, kinda embarrassing actually.

Story: We towed my car to Mitsu Mans house because theres not enough room at his shop to work on it. We took a fairly old F350 dually, friends truck. Were strolling through the iced subdivision looking for MMs house. 3S is on the trailer of course. As were looking, we notice all the driveways have at least 5" of ice and another 2" of slush. We get to MMs mouse and guess what, theres a hill (Mitsu Mans driveway) It wasnt a big one or anything, it was fairly steep but only like 50' long. My buddy driving his truck, said confidently "I can make it up that hill no problem" I wasnt too sure about it but no matter, he couldnt get 10' up it, I laughed, and after bragging how easily my car could get up it, we pulled it off the trailer.

Ive never actually drove the car on ice but from what Ive gathered from other 3S guys is that it should murder that simple hill. I lined up with it. Slowly started up the hill, couldnt, making sire I woundlt scrape, cause my car is offly low. I got the two front tires on it and once i was guaranteed no to scrape, I Proceed to put the throttle damn near the floor and balanced the rpms at about 5000 (redlines at 6500) My car then dug straight trough the 5" thick ice straight to the concrete, throwing 4 rooster tails aaaallll the way up. Arrow straight, the whole way and digging some pretty ruts in the process. My friend walked up to me after and said "Damn! I Should have recorded that on my phone!" lol. Damn right, my car is awesome. Im not mad at it anymore. Next ice we get, Ill defiantly get a video of my good ol' banana eating it.

Once it gets fixed, Ill post some videos, and make a special announcement. Cause Im all official like that.

Edit: hopefully someone will comment so I dont have to quad post again. ... aaaand UPS just delivered my struts, like just now, while I was typing this edit. lol

Thanks! Black wheels are on the way, but they may be a few months off. I just got off the phone with Mitsu Man, and now possibly Mitsu Man and Mr Tranny (my names sure are dumb.) are thinking of doing all the work a few posts up. As in rebuild the turbos, and replace the valve stem seals, struts, motor mounts, lowering springs, big bore lifters, and the 4ws delete. Including an alignment and replacing worn out bushings and gaskets. I got all the required parts, except for the seals, all I gotta worry about is labor. Good thing someone invented overtime, I dread that phone call nonetheless. So it may be a few weeks, possibly a month before I get my car back...

I like the pearl yellow, it has a sort of 'pop' that is difficult to replace. And Ive actually been debating of going with the dark pearlish red or kipping it yellow. Also, its cool that Im the only factory pearl yellow Stealth in my area among the 3S community, that we know of.

Picking the good ol' 3S up today. Ill post a few videos up very soon. Theyll be covering Nov to now. lol.

BTW I havent really driven the Stealth far since all this powder coating stuff. Feel sorry for the rest of the people on road

Too bad it wont survive for long.

I got the Stealth back already. And its [insert epic inappropriate words here] awesome! Im putting some finishing touches on the video I should have released back in December. My lazy *** didnt feel like doing it. The whole powdercoating/struts and springs stuff will be in 3 videos as of now. Now me uploading them however... No pics just yet either :P

This is part one of three. You dont get to see a whole lot of the powdercoating on the car, not just yet anyway. And my cat makes an appearance..

I know I havent really been giving updates, but the project has been in full swing the whole time. Except for the 2 weeks I was pissed at the Stealth. lol. So get some popcorn its update time ;)

First off, you can either watch these videos or check the first post in the thread to see my new look... or just look an my sig.

Ill repaint the intake soon, and put some clear coat on it this time. Never work on your car mad...

So originally my so called 'special' announcement was going to only be that I will be attending the 3S National Gathering this year, its the biggest 3S gathering in the world. Or Ill give it one hell of a shot at least. Its in Indianapolis which is a 10 hour drive for me. Theyll have road course racing, autocross, and drag, and a car show... so far. This is the 20th anniversary of the 3S and according to the staff that get it together, its getting very hard to find a place for NG. Thay doubt therell be another gathering with this proportion. So their going all out. They have announced that everyone that registers will have a few laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with a 3S or not. Its still early, NG is at the end of June. So real details havent been given just yet. That was the original announcement, but now theres a lot more. BTW Im planning on jumping into one of those racing events. Thoughts? And yes my car will be ready for that shit. Which brings up another announcement.

Ive been debating on the color of my car. Im going to repaint it, and I love the idea I have (Ill post a pic later) but that yellow is just so damn cool. Litteraly every person I know, hated the color when I got it, but now they are all in love with it, all as in everyone. And now Im debating on the dark red or not. What do you guys think?

Announcement number 3. 4ws is having the same effect on me as the paint. I drove a 3k with the delete, and 4ws really does help keep the back end 'in check.' Except for the rare woble that goes on back there, which Ive been taught how to predict it, and prevent it. So 4ws may end up staying after all.

Announcement number 4. BRG is going to be in May this year. If you guys remember that event I went too. I may record it again, havent decided.

Announcement number 5. Ill be going to a photoshoot on March 4th for one of our 3S calenders for 2012. This guy is going to have a busy year, so hes getting started a few months early. Anyways, assuming nothing comes up, Ill go to that, and get paid... sort of. lol. Itll be the kind where a hot model is posing with it. And I get options on which models pose on my ride! Ill attach some thumbnails. I wanted the one in the pink, but she fell through. As of now, itll be the other one. I think the guy is looking for more though.

Quick update:

The photoshoot isnt looking so good, due to scheduling for the shoot and the photographer dealing with other life issues, they may not me stopping in GA. And the nearest shoot other than that is an 8-9 hour drive for me. So that particular shoot may not happen. But still, Im working on some publicity ;)

I ordered my hood, finally. $600 for the hood, plus $150 for shipping. Its fiberglass and weighs about 24lbs as apposed to my stock 60lb hood. I still need to get some hood pins and low pressure struts. But Itll be in somewhere between 3 weeks and 3 months before I get it ... yeah.

Not bad man. As long as you don't put that ugly wing on the back.

GreedyTurbo529
02-16-2011, 04:42 PM
took me a while to figure out what wing you were talking about. lol Thats the stock 99 3000GT VR-4 spoiler actually. I kinda like it, but its not for me.

And the thing I forgot to mention yesterday is another funny story involving a new guy with an eclipse at work.

So you guys might not find it too funny unless youve had a 3S, but its common for people to think my car is a DSM, which its not. In a nut shell, Diamond Sports Motors wanted to make an awesome performance car that was durable as hell and had awesome power. And what they came up with was the Talon, Laser, and Eclipse. Which didnt really have much performance and their crank shafts walked all the time. lol. But people who are misinformed, think 3000GTs, Stealths, and GTOs are DSMs also. Which they arnt. And people with DSMs think were budds or some other special form of friendship. Its just funny dealing with that first hand. So go ahead and laugh your asses off...

Hood update:

I talked to Cianci and they are making my hood next week and shipping it the week after. Yeah, my hood is being built epically for me, its not one of those 'in stock' models its created when someone orders it. Makes me feel cool. :cool4: Anyways, I didnt mention yesterday that its usually $750 but its on sale at the moment. So I snagged it while it was on sale.

Progress is happening, and now I got a deadline to meet.

The NG info just went up, and registration is open. For those who care for more info on the event:

http://www.3sng.org/

Pace lap is for anyone who registers. Im doing that now. Its $120 to register, and extra for being in the race events. Car show is free though its a 200 car limit. Im securing my spot. And I need a passenger. lol Its a 9.5 hr drive from my place. Unless I convince an old friend to go. I havent seen her in years. That would make it a 13.5 hr drive picking her up. But itd be worth it. And I think Im going to kick some *** in the drag event in the AWD 3S stock Mass sensor category. Business will be rolling soon.

This post is kinda choppy, but I got info to fill. :P

GreedyTurbo529
02-25-2011, 05:27 PM
And then it was done... Im in the show and drag event. Now sit back, relax, and watch this shit unfold. I got some secrets up my sleeve. ;) Some stuff is rather... controversial.

About the photoshoot: Dates, times, and models have changed a couple times. As of now were meeting this Sunday around Stone Mountain, Google it. If he can find a model, not sure on the progress of that.

I may get it, though my car already has one, sort of. And the guys who make them have not and really dont feel like trying it on a 2g Stealth. Id have to cut off that section between the mufflers though, and its $500. Well see.

So the time for paint is coming upon us, believe it or not. So without further adieu. Im curious to what you guys think, pick one:

Keep it pearl yellow like it is now.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/tbrobertson17/Stealth%20Feb%2011/FLLow.jpg

Or paint it like the following with a dark pearl red, with some black strips.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/tbrobertson17/Paint.jpg

Ill be getting some black wheels to go with it right after paint. So what do you guys think? Either way the cars getting repainted, the red is projected to be about $1500 to $2000 for all the paint, the yellow is, half that.

Still working on a fuel door. Well see about that.

And btw I wont be making it to this years BRG due to personal reasons.

Another btw, Im pretty set in what Im going to do, always have been even before I got a Stealth, but you guys wont be expecting it. :P What your currently thinking is wrong. But I like opinions.

Vanexroxics
02-26-2011, 08:49 PM

It would look sweet wearing that dark red w/black racing stripes. Although it may seem more attractive with that pale yellow. Your choice, but if it came to me, I'd take the dark red.

2-Edge
02-27-2011, 10:34 AM
Neither color is to my liking, I'd go for normal red or something.

But from those two I'd pick the dark red. Though the yellow could look cool with some nice black wheels.

That sounds good. Wish the video quality was a little clearer.
As for the color, I would personally keep it the color you have it, it's unique.
And as for the rear diffuser, I think you should try and make one. I've seen some people do it before on STI's and such and it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Time for a Teku style update:

I GOT PROBLEMS! hahaha. ok ok I know Im an *** hole, that wasnt funny. I couldnt resist though. Dont hate, Im sorry.

Anyways, I have some problem, problems suck and I dont feel like talking about it, but Ive been working on it for a week, the car rids fine its just sputtering and boost dies off way to early. With the advise of some 3S guys on 3SGTO were currently tracking it down.

Other than that, Im waiting on the hood to come in and Ive fixed my sunroof regulator, if you guys remember that far back. lol. I got that film off the inside of my headlights, had to cook them in the oven at 250 degrees for 5 mins to get them apart too. And Ive got a list of all the stuff I want done by NG. Not Im not posting it. :P

I think Id prefer the dark red with black stripes, that yellow just looks like faded paint to me, and theres a good reason why you dont see many cars with that color tone on the streets. :)

Other yellows would probably look better, just not this one :D

And Im not sure about that diffuser, I highly recommend to show us a picture of it installed on a similar vehicle first before deciding, right now it doesnt look like the best investment to me.

GreedyTurbo529
03-07-2011, 05:36 PM
Yeah, the diffuser idea has come and gone. I was just thinking it. My car sort of has one anyway.

And dont hate the yellow, youre feeding my inner troll. lol . My yellow looks faded because it IS faded. Thats why Im repainting it. :P And not many cars can pull off pearl yellow and still look awesome thats why you dont see any. Like guys wearing pink, or having a bald head, other than aged men of course, because they dont have a choice.

So I just had a nice chat with some 3S guys. And apparently I gapped my spark plugs to the N/A spec which is .044, I thought it was a bit big, but I thought its what I was supposed to put them at too. lol. TT gap is .032 which for spark plug gap, is what Id call a fukton. Ill fix that starting tomorrow. Right now Im going to huddle in a corner...

I toned the smiley down too. lol. Actually I made that post just after checking my bank online and seen an extra $400+ in there. And I immediately came here and posted that. lol. Im calm now...

That tax refund will cover all/most of the goodies I need to collect before paint too. i.e corner lights for the bumper, pins for the hood, and a custom fuel door. Though Im debating the fiel door now, but I gotta look into it more before I decide. But hey if you guys want to help. I posted the info a while back but what the hell I ll do it again.

Im wanting to get a fuel door like this:

http://www.cianciusa.com/images/product_pictures/fueldoor_relocationkit.jpg

That one is Ciancis but they tend to drag *** on orders. Plus its $300 for the kit. And all it is a Sparco fuel door with a longer hose. Though I tend to associate Sparco with ricers, so I dont want that engraved into my fuel door. Im looking for one similar to it. Aftermarket, off another car, or bike Im open to suggestions.

Examples:

Hood finally got shipped, should be here in a week or so. And due to recent events in Japan Ive halted the project for a bit so all the moolah that would be going into the Stealth is in the bank. Should the worst come to past with those reactors, I wont be caught with my pants down... so to speak. But Im still researching and looking for deals, just not getting anything at the moment.

Havent got the hood yet.

Scratch hood pins, corner lights, and data logger off that long *** list.

I got these pins

http://www.3sx.com/store/catalog/hood-pins-flush-latch-national-gathering-2008-0973-500.jpg

And if you dont know what a data logger actually is, basically it taps in to the ECU and tells me everything about everything involving anything electronic. So no more not know whats wrong. Just pull up the logs and blamo. The kind I got is the sort that you plug into a laptop and install some software. I swear if I get some 'the fast and the furious' references...

Check it out if you want scroll down till you see a bunch of pictures.
http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItemBundle.asp?idProduct=28457

Those three things total were about $550
