Got this last week so I can drive around and fix both of my other vehicles.

Don't have many pictures of it, as of right now but I do have a few I can show you.

The night I bought it...I went and got it registered in my name the following day (another $90 :( )

The other day I got back in town after I had attended a weekend long MK1 VW Show titled MK1 Madness..had a blast, but I figured I should work on the Jetta some.

So far I have done the following: Hooked up my subwoofer and amp, cleaned it up a little bit, and I fixed the air conditioning today (but I need to replace the condenser...it leaks :( )

A few days ago I got bored at a friends house while we were making a few random things, so I figured I'd work on getting my Jetta looking nicer.

We made that out of a heater blower, a spare electric motor, a V-Belt from a car, and some wood...amazing how much of a difference a ghetto/home made shop fan will make when working on cars in a hot room will make.

Here is what I did on the Jetta:

This is a shot with 1 layer of polish on the top half of the car, and the faded/oxidized part is untouched...which is what it looked like when I bought the car.

And this is what it looks like all cleaned up:

The things left on the quick-to-do list are as follows:

Swap these ugly *** wheels out for the teardrops from my Diesel jetta, and order my coilovers, but the coilovers will have to wait a few weeks so I can get the Diesel fixed, and the other motor purchased for my other car.

looks very good, did you also replace that rear left door panel trim piece?

Not yet, it is in the car, I just haven't messed with it yet to be honest.

Neat but uninspiring. Liked your Jetta mk4 much more.

I think you need another dub. You can never have to many :P

I'd only need one.

I would Porschify it :)

Depending on the model, I'd carefully choose Porsche items to replace my wheels, steering wheel, badging, gauges, smooth out the grille and give it Porsche lights/carve out existing ones.

And although rear wheels look impressive, I'd go for 2 sets of fronts as the car would be FF or 4motion so no point in beefy rear rims.

Actually, I would need mk5 rear lights that are completely red like the old Cayenne. That possible?

You're nuts. clearly this isnt a project car, its just something for the guy to get around in while he dumps money into the other two cars. Kind of like I was trying to do, but i cant keep my mk3 jetta running properly for more than a week it seems :|

Trust me, I am well aware of that... I just got this to drive around in as Shake had mentioned.

Its a $600 car, and all I am going to do to it is fix what it needs, swap my wheels over, and get the coilovers as the suspension needs to be changed as it is shot and all original.

you better not spend anything on it cos that mk2 is too much of a gem to forget about

Fixed the air conditioning the other day, needed a new condenser so I took out the busted old one, vacuum pumped the AC system and reinstalled it.

Registered 34.8*F coming out of the vents. :)

Oh, and I bought this:

Water pump went bad so I replaced that and the thermostat housing. Talk about a huge PITA.

But, I did a few things to the car as you can see (sort of)

I used some glass stain paint for the tail lights and painted over the amber portion of the tails, even though they are indeed darker, you don't notice it too much and I think the car looks SO much better with it done that way.

I have a VR6 lip for the front to go on my new-to-me bumper with the bodyline shaved/filled. Going to order my smoked E-Code headlights so I can actually see while driving at night and then proceeding to do my HID install on the car. Looking into some 15" Borbet Type A replicas as well just to keep this thing looking fresh ;)

Oh..and I bought a chip for it tonight.

WTF. Atleast everything is cheap :P

Love the tails and wheels.

The whole thing looks like some Porsche concept from the 80s 'researching into' compact sedan segment :D
