I saw this on kotaku and alarms went off in my head and I simultaneously said a big "Oh sh*t".

Shift was kind of meh, though a move in the good direction. I was hoping for something more like GRID, but hey... maybe this one 'll be better. Still, isn't this sort of shooting your own foot? Two Need for Speed titles for the same platforms within 3 months? EA likes milking their IPs.

On the other hand, these games seem to aim at a different type of audience, which sometimes may overlap. I just wish we'd have both the emphasis on realism and pursuits in one game.

I'm checking for validity.

Wow, they might as well just release a patch for Shift 1, seeing that its just clearly correcting the problems in Shift, throwing in some addons and packaging it in a new game.

This is a waste of EA's time. The first Shift was just like ProStreet, and ProStreet wasn't that good.

idk what some of you people are smoking but shift was one of the better games since MW. if this is legit then it would be a good boost for ea's repetition.

This is a waste of EA's time. The first Shift was just like ProStreet, and ProStreet wasn't that good.ProStreet had over the top arcade physics, and the announcers and Ryo were just annoying. Shift is reasonbly sim like, I'll be looking forward to a Shift 2.

Shift was the best game to wear the NFS badge since Porsche.
The sheer class of Porsche was only ever matched by Shift. Everything in Shift is great.
Bodykits and mods are done with proper automotive knowledge (designed off real designs).

idk what I'm smoking but mewants Undercover 2, without the storyline, but with the environment, customization, hand-tuned opponents and lots of races, but with night/day
+weather cycle.

I like the idea of a Shift 2 but IMO EA should concentrate on getting more licenses before developing a game like this. Compared to the likes of Forza, one of the first game's biggest flaws was not having that many cars available and not much of the latest in the automotive industry (just look at the outdated Challenger Concept and pre-facelift Mercedes SL65 AMG). Also there were very few sport saloons like BMW M5 and Audi RS6, which obviously deserve to be in a game like this. Seeing as EA got hold of some interesting licenses starting with HP 2010, I hope this translates into a better car list for Shift 2.

Well, if it gets past all the rumours and actually goes into production, I'd happily buy it as I enjoyed Shift, even considering that it could have been a lot better than what it was.
Hopefully they'll acquire new licences and get a bigger car list.
New tracks would also be nice.

Undercover car list was entirely fine IMO.

But for me, Shift should also have a 'Road Race' mode thing, with rally-like shortcuts from open roads in beautiful sceneries, with small amount of traffic, and parts of the track that are wide and have a nice, cool Grand Touring feel. No liveries or racing parts allowed.

Shift's interior movement and sounds were great but imbalanced. The same effects were applied when driving an SL65 120km/h in 6th gear (should be a nice and quiet merc, nothing more smooth than a merc V12) and when going on the limit.

It bugged me to see a stock luxo sports car be all squeaky inside like a rally car, even when the engine was at low revs. Also the wind noise.

Shift wasn't a bad game, the only problem was that EA badged it as a simulator, which it clearly was not.

Not quite sure if I'd like to dish out another $60 for Shift 2.

the intentional audio distortion annoyed me, so I didnt paly the first one much. Minus this, Shift 2 will be a good game.

@Yale, it was definitely GRiD ^2
