View Full Version : Wii version Review
CVPI19 11-18-2010, 03:21 AM Everyone I know most of you guys hate the Wii version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit but unlike Nitro this game has a cop mode meaning this game isn't at a complete lost despite its graphics. But what does make it suck being able to rice/tune your car up with body kits and rims like in the previous NFS games especially Nitro. Now those who were disappointed with the lack of single & quick races and split screen action well this version is the answer to those gripes. The cop mode can be single player or mutli-player as well too. Plus this version is not set in Sea Crest County but rather in different parts of the world starting in China, and ending in Las Vagas a.k.a. Sin City. What also sucks about this version no spike belts, emp or helicopters like in the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions. On the light side for those who wanted the racer version of the Porsche Panamera Turbo in the PS3, and PC versions but only to find out its only through a offer through Dr. Pepper for the Xbox 360 well its available to both sides of the law in the Wii version so this is one of the reasons why its worth getting this version. Well you not only earn bounty/cash but also unlock cars for both sides of the law in Career mode. When playing as the cops here the lights and sirens can't be toggled on or off and you start behind 25 racers depending on what car you have it you bust as many racers as you can within the time limit. Now some cars like the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and the Carbon Motors E7 are absent from this version but the Charger SRT-8 and Police Interceptor concept being in this version makes up for those 2 cars not appearing this version. I give this version of the game 5 out of 10 because of the fact the ricing and tuning we all hate returns in this version but unlike Nitro it has a true cop mode. I will post pictures of the cars for both sides of the law from the Wii version later on.
AJ_Lethal 11-18-2010, 09:39 AM Ok, yeah, this version has things that the HD version lacks. But they're worthless since the basics (gameplay mostly and graphics in a close second) are nothing but rubbish.
CVPI19 11-18-2010, 10:47 AM Here are the cars as promised despite the graphics here are the cars for the racers first.

These pictures I took myself for this version and to add the NFS Wikia since I'm the administrator there as well too and some of these are reasons alone for those who can't play the HD versions. I will take and post more pictures from the game later with the locations and their tracks.
oh man those cars looks like an old game
AJ_Lethal 11-18-2010, 11:25 AM ^yup. And they reused the Nitro menu fonts, which is a sign of low budget/laziness
and did you see the guard bars? ridiculous.
CVPI19 11-21-2010, 12:50 AM ^AJ if you are reading this all this is to me even though I think its so so is just a washed-up Need for Speed Nitro with a be the cop mode.
Alexc12fr 11-21-2010, 03:48 AM It looks horrible. :(
Surprised about that.
Zpectre 11-21-2010, 03:55 AM The Nintendo 64 was capable of better graphics than this.
Alexc12fr 11-21-2010, 03:57 AM The Nintendo 64 was capable of better graphics than this.
Not really.
RacingFreak 11-21-2010, 04:17 AM The Wii version itself sucks, what were EA thinking of even having NFS games on Wii? It would be better to have GSM/Java versions of them, instead
BTW, CVPI19, can you try loading the game in Dolphin, within 3D Ripper DX and see if it`s possible to rip the models? They`re really low-polied, but I think they are okay at converting them to High Stakes.

Exactly

Nitro was a quite good honest game. And the iOS version of the game was (ironically) better.

Finally, a good use for it.

So, if you happen to be a Wii owner and you have 60 bucks, please, get a GameCube controller and HP2, then pretend you're playing HP2K10. You will thank me later...
...or get GoldenEye...
...or get MW, C, Nitro and for irony's sake, UC.
RacingFreak 11-21-2010, 01:04 PM Hrumph..what a wii-fail :\
I`m just gonna get the Wii version to see myself (will emulate it). And using HP Wii`s cars in High Stakes is just an idea.

Shift parts bin+Nitro engine = FAIL.

I happen to still have my gamecube controller and my gamecube version of Hot Pursuit 2 but the only reason why I think that version stinks due to the fact it was also used to make the Xbox and PC versions of it instead of porting the Playstation 2 version over to the Xbox and PC.

When I play it I keep my cars stock I don't rice them up yuck the same goes for when playing Most Wanted, Carbon and Undercover the only customizing I do is just vinyls and performance never bodykits.
Nfspeed26 11-21-2010, 05:39 PM The car graphics of the Wii version look horrible. Even Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2 console had better graphics than this and theres an 8 year difference beetween them.
How does the gameplay compare with Hot Pursuit 2 on a console?.
I'll admit the cars will definitley be put to good use by converting to HS if that's possible.
2-Edge 11-21-2010, 06:32 PM This thing looks more horrible than Undercover's PS2 version...
CVPI19 11-21-2010, 06:49 PM This thing looks more horrible than Undercover's PS2 version...
At least the PS2 version of Undercover which is also the same as the Wii version had offline cop modes which the PS3. Xbox 360 and PC versions lacked.

Because of the fact the Gamecube, Xbox and PC versions were made by EA of Seattle while the Playstation 2 version was made by Blackbox and EA of Canada. Plus there were cars that are different in the Playstation 2 version and had desert themed tracks too absent in the Gamecube, Xbox and PC versions.

Is it a good thing that Black Box developed the Playstation 2 version?. Or were the PC, Xbox and Gamecube versions better?.

PC version of HP2 was shit.
Not everything that Black Box touches is bad (NFSU2, MW).
Nfspeed26 11-21-2010, 11:32 PM PC version of HP2 was shit.
I agree. The physics when racing were rubbish. I couldn't race outside the car without crashing into a wall because camrea view was incredibly jerky.
The Playstation 2 version of HP2 was absolutely brilliant. Racing any car in that game felt easy to manage and with a sense of realism. I think it is definitley the last great NFS for me. I may sound like a stuck up Old Nfs fan, but heck those were the best!.

Ripping from Wii is possible!

It doesn`t even has the problems, the PC cars has, so... I`ll continue ripping! :)
AJ_Lethal 11-22-2010, 09:13 AM ^****ing win
Zpectre 11-22-2010, 12:43 PM IMO it'll be a waste since the cars have no interiors.

YES!!!. Thank you for finding a way to keep HS alive!. Im really looking forward to seeing how this goes. :D

Not really. It will give modlers a starting base to create an interior for. It is possible.

The cars with no interiors would also do good in Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit a.k.a. the original Hot Pursuit as well too. If you get the chance please rip the Police Interceptor Concept and even the Charger SRT-8 police cars from that version as well.

But the model is shit even for HS. My Ford GT (http://www.nfsaddons.com/nfshs/cars/Ford/1471/) which was converted from MW is heaps better. I'm actually surprised at the low quality of these Wii models.

These models would be better suited for Need for Speed: III since the cars in that game like interiors within the car models and drivers or these cars would be good as traffic cars in High Stakes.
Nfspeed26 11-22-2010, 10:17 PM It dosen't look too bad. I mean, at least with low-poly cars you can full grid race.
RacingFreak 11-23-2010, 03:08 AM I already started converting Mazda RX8 police for MM2. The only problem here goes the fact, that they used separate textures for body, wheels, lightbars, decals, etc. Then, converting to NFS3 or even adding interior for a HS version, isn`t a problem for me ;)
And I have a question for those, who played the game - is it necessary to play only as racer? I`m asking because, I want to see police cars selection menu (it`s from where I do rip cars, btw). Interesting here is, if I rip a police car, then I just need to remove lightbars and police equiptment, and that`s all.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, but its the only way to get some cars... Like the new ford pi concept, or the z4 sdrive35is. Doing interiors for em is not rocket science, though

Its not really required to play as the racer to play as the cops you have to go to Quick Play and go to the Interceptor and BTW what about the wheels and cars with bodykits for those who like ricers/tuners in addition to the stock and police versions. Don't forget to the Charger SRT-8, Ford Police Interceptor concept, and others to get the traffic cars you need to go into races to rip those.
RacingFreak 12-02-2010, 07:49 AM I have a question; Are there cheats available? For example, it can fasten up really my progress at ripping them :)
luchadolittle 12-02-2010, 11:33 PM wow this game sucks, it was rated only 4/10 for WII, so much for the 10/10 video lol
Martin the hedgehog 02-12-2011, 12:34 AM I think the rating of this game would be (a bit) higher if WII version of Hot Pursuit 2010 was named High Stakes 2010. :D
AJ_Lethal 02-12-2011, 01:21 PM I think the rating of this game would be a ****ing lot lower (if that thing is possible) if WII version of Hot Pursuit 2010 was named High Stakes 2010. :D
Fix'd for ya.
996XS 05-30-2011, 12:20 PM OK, If EA makes a Wii game, they should at least give some more energy, make it run on a more powerful engine, and have better graphics than this sh*t. I own a Wii, and I know that it is much more capable for performance than what I just saw.
Spikeg 06-03-2011, 06:31 PM Does anybody still happen to have the 3d meshes from the Wii version. I found them at a site a while back but can't for the life of me remember the name of the site or it's been shutdown. Would like to convert some of these to an older game.

Hmmm, isn't it racingmadness.99k.org (http://racingmadness.99k.org/)?
It's shutted down lotsa time ago.
