This was my brother's car but now he gave it to me. We bought it three years ago as a second hand unit for $2900.

It's still in a perfect condition. The engine is really old, it wouldn't anymore hit speeds above 120 kph(74.5645431 mph). Not a problem here because the maximum speed you can attain on the highway is 100 kph(62.1371192 mph). Since it is an old car, the handling is poor and you can feel that when changing lanes on a traffic. At least I still get a city fuel consumption of 13 km/l which is not bad at all.

A delivery truck hit me last year. Not yet repaired.

I still haven't washed the car and there are a lot of scratches.

I'm planning to have a whole body re-paint as that white paint is really annoying.

It needs a 4A-GE!

Seriously, I think this Corolla is cool, I mean, it's the last generation that looked good IMO.

Read my mind.

Hey man, no matter what anyone says Toyotas have good suspension. If you get those stuff repaired you have yourself a mini lexus my friend. :) This is indeed a bulletproof starter car to have and I wish I had one myself.

That engine you have is a 1.3L 2E engine and is pretty weak when compared to the efficiency and power of the other engines available. Like Killua said, get that 4A-GE upgrade [when you got the resources for it] cuz I did a swap with it in an AE 91 Corolla paired to a C160 gearbox and that is the best thing ever happened to the guy. If all of that makes no sense to you, its ok cuz I guess I'm just like one of those random forum guys, rambling on, telling you what to do with your car.

All n all I'm really glad for you mayne.

Sir, old does not necessarily have to mean crappy. Besides, 1997 is not "very old" :P. If your engine lost that much power, check the compression. As for the handling, you might want to have your suspension checked for worn out bearings etc.

Thanks guys :)

None yet. I'll try to save money for body repairs first.

I have heard some people doing that swap already. I just need to find some sources first and of course budget my expenses.

I remember my brother told me about the "shocks" part of the car that needs to be replaced. He said that the previous replacement was only a gas refilled.

Are you old enough to drive F.R.?

Yes.

hmm... Corolla is very very good car i think. We had 99' sw XEI version. XEI in Turkey, the luxiest version. The SW version in Turkey, 114 hp. (for only 1.6 and XE or XLI, other versions 1.3 engine only.) It was awesomely car, we sold Corolla 5 years ago.
I think you should buy new rims (for example bbs rs, advan racing), and you must repaint. Nice car again :)

If you can't hit 120 on the highway perhaps it's time for a tune up.
