Does anyone know why someone would become nauseous from playing first person shooters?

The movement is too fast probably... I got dizzy once after playing lots of C&C: Renegade...

I play in a fairly lit room (one 75 Watt bulb in a 16' x 6' x 10' room (approx))

The weird thing is that I seem to only get nauseous from playing FPS based on the quake III engine (such as SoFII and Wolfenstein). With CS, for example, I can play for a long time with no problem. Weird, isn't it?

do you have any history of epilsepsy? does any of your close relatives had any epilepsy crisis?

also, acute anxiety may cause nausea. some FPS are extremely fast moving games and may lead to an increase in the body defense mechanisms of some people, alerting the SNV (Simpatic Nervous System) which will trigger the neuronal defense responses (like when you see a raged dog running at you) which also affects emotions and consciousness, increasing the levels of anxiety. in other words, the body intrepretates the fast moving images on the screen as a possible threat. if you stay with these high levels of anxiety for too long (if you play for large periods of time), it may lead to nausea and a vast panoply of other symptoms such as dizziness, headaques, asthma and epilepsy crisis.
