I like games with levels that take you to actual ‘real word locations’. I can think of a few action sports games with some cool settings around the world, some of which are actually pretty similar to the real place. What are some of your favorite in-game locales? Are there any actual locations that you haven’t seen in any game that you think they should use?

For example, baseball games like MLB Slugfest do a great job of re-creating the actual baseball stadiums, although I haven’t seen all the baseball games out there. Racing games like Need 4 Speed and Midnight Club also have some really great cities and realistic recreations. Transworld Surf has some cool locations around the world too, like in Antarctica, France and Fiji. Anyway, you get the idea.. I’m going to add to my own list as I think of more. In the meantime, think of some of your picks and post em here.

I have to add Wakeboarding Unleashed to the list - not only because the various lakes look incredible, but because the water graphics and special effects are more incredible than anything I thought was possible in a video game these days. It's quite amazing -> http://www.wakeboardingunleashed.com

Well, I suppose we don't have to limit the discussion to xtreme sports if you don't want to - I agree that the Getaway has one of the most impressive recreations of an actual city that I've seen. There's one coming out that's going to be called 'True Crime' that has a really accurate recreation of Los Angeles.

plus, I saw some screens for the Driver game (not sure which number in the series, or the release date) - I don't know what city it's supposed to take place in, but I was astounded by the photo-realism of the streets and buildings - there were pollution streaks on the walls, trash in the streets, things sitting on window sills, etc. - tons of detail.

One more thing.. I have to add some screens - the official Wakeboarding Unleashed site has the best examples of the water effects that I've seen, but these were pretty great too: http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMediaPage.jsp?media_id=1598301&object_id=481947&channel_id=73&page_title=Wakeboarding+Unleashed+Featuring+Shaun+ Murray&adString=network%3Dign%26site%3Dxbox%26pagetype%3D mediaimgthin&return_url=http%3A%2F%2Fxbox.ign.com%2Fobjects%2F4 81%2F481947.html
