Nice going man, looks very promising.
|
Nice car! I luv how the car is 3D and that lil' vent thingie on the back is. It looks awesome! :P Can't wait until it is done! Hope you finish it! :P
|
well ive finished the mesh on my other car so ive been working on this today.
ive finished off the first step of the mesh (the basic shape) 2day :added Front windscreen, door, front body etc... pix included. http://www.djcgrafixpix.netfirms.com/956pic3.jpg |
nice job keep going on both your projects
|
looks realy good
release one of them already lol |
so you're gonna make the 962 outta this as well? can't wait. I already got the Dauer 962 but yours is gonna be higher poly and will look slightly better for it.
how are you going to texture these two cars (956 and 962)? as road cars or race cars? Are you making interiors for them? All looks promising. Keep it up! |
962 - texturing is gonna be a nightmare.
for the 956 i was thinking of releasing a normal one texture stock car, and another one in the Rothmans Racing colours when Jacky Ickx wont the Lemans 24hrs in 1982. Still thinking/.... for the 962 im still undecided. |
Is that little kink behind the front wheel cowling a 956 feature? Cuz it's not on the 962. I never noticed it before.
How many pictures have you got to work from? If you need any more give us a shout. Looks amazin tho! Can't wait. Rothmans would be a good texture for the 956 cuz that's what people remember it by. Plain road colours may be nice for the 962 though. Failing that, use the red and white FATurbo colours from the 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans race car. It's longtail rather than short.......from the pictures it looks like you're doing the shorttail, but I may be wrong? |
been working on the interiour......1600poly!!!!!
its a bit to high poly though. i will slim it down a bit!! pix--> http://www.djcgrafixpix.netfirms.com/int1.jpg http://www.djcgrafixpix.netfirms.com/int2.jpg http://www.djcgrafixpix.netfirms.com/int3.jpg comments appreciated PS - 962 - wat do u mean the kink - i dont know wat u r referring to?? |
thats not nos is it?? :P
|
no no no no no - its gonna be a fire extinguisher
|
it's fire killers
nice interior, u need some good normals though... :? |
its very good then :P
|
nice man... sweet 8)
|
lookin sweet
|
godlike. that interior is so CORRECT. the fire extinguisher, the electronic exchange on the bulkhead. oh it's beautiful. erm. the kink.
Behind the wheel arch, where the air intake drops down beside the cockpit, there seems to be a kind of crease in the outer body panel. It's shadowed and the wireframe shows that the side panels between the wheel arches aren't flush all the way along. As far as i've seen, there's normally only lines where the panels and dorrs slot together, and a hole before the back wheel cowling where the two exhausts protrude on each side. ok this is really hard to explain! you know what i'm referring to now? |
gotcha now...thx didnt notice it before...ill work on it
|
no worries dude. happy to be of service. hehe.
There was a recent porsche ALMS car, in the top LMP class, and it is exactly the same shape as the 962c, just without a roof. I can't remember the name of the car, ie. it's number, but TWR Joest raced it and won LeMans with it when i was there in 1997. You know which one i'm on about? it was white with hagenuk sponsors. there was also a dark blue and white one driven by mario andretti. I was just thinking it'd be quite easy to make. you know, just remove the roof from a 962 or 956 model, add an airbox and roll-over bar, and the 962c wing on the back. Not tht i'm hinting towards a car request or anything. Can't wait for these cars to come out! :P |
?
u mean the WSC 95.
it looks differnt in ways so i wud probalby make a scratch base for it. nice idea. suddenly im gonna go from one car to three cars :!:  found a pic! http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ht.perso/lem...7/porsche7.jpg and im thinking now of a 936 maybe after \wards!!!!! oh by the way im interested in Lemans if u didnt know - lol  |
that is exactly  the fit :censored: ss car i'm talking about. do you know where's there's any more pictures of it? I've been wanting some for ages. Well, now i got my first! thanks. this puts my photo count up to 1430 CAR PHOTOS ON MY HARD DISK.
erm, i dunno much about car editing but i thought you could base with the 956 since the front end is almost the same, tho the splitter is slightly shallower and the corners are pinched inward. the wheelbase is the same. yippee! someone else who likes LeMans. you have taste dude. |
help. im trying to model teh rear end but i dont hav pix. well the ones i do are tiny.
any1 got any. heres a pic of where i mean http://djcgrafixpix.netfirms.com/956no4.jpg |

|
Dude, i'm lookin for 956 rear-end pics now. I have some of the 962's rear, if that's any help, since they're the same!
where do i start stickshift964? hehe. erm, i could copy out the section of my 'Porsche - The Legend' book on the 962 if you like, or I could give you a brief intro. yeah. I'll do that. The Beginners Guide To The Porsche 962. ------------------------------------------------ In 1982 the Porsche 956 made it's GT racing debut. After an unimpressive performance at silverstone, it disappeared, until the summer of that year, when three group C 956's made their LeMans debut. it was a rothman's sponsored works 956 that won LeMans that year. And the following year. And it was a 956 or it's 962 variant that won LeMans every year up to and including 1987. In 84 porsche had realised their huge success, and what was to come, and decided to take a similar car to the United States to blitz the IMSA racing series. this was an important move for Porsche because they needed to influence the American road car market. It was the 962 that went to the IMSA series, with it's working parts tailored to suit the different regultions. varying flat sixes of 2.8, 3 and 3.2 litres were employed, all fed by a single, monsterous KKK turbocharger unit. The 1987 3 litre Porsche 962 produced 650 BHP at 8200rpm, with a top speed of 240 mph regularly reached on the US circuits. Acceleration was another strong point, and Porsche made sure that the needle hung around below the sixty mark for NO LESS THAN 3 SECONDS. German group Dauer Automobiles picked up the 962 in 1993 and blew the dust off. They carefully developed it over the following year, and in 1994 the Dauer 962LM was finally released to embarrass the motorsport world. this new 962 had a pair of KKK Turbochargers spliced with a porsche 3 litre flat six and it's 251 mph top speed was quickly reached as it hastily scampered from 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds. And this was the road car. The day before the 1994 24 hour race at Lemans the Dauer 962LM cruised around the circuit in front of a stunned crowd. The Following day the race car won. The 956 and 962 were also both extremely fast around the corners at 'La Sarthe'. So fast that when the Japanese 'Alpha' team privately entered a patched up 962 in the 24 hour race in 1990 (driven by Tiff Needell, David Sears and Anthony Reid) they worked their way from 28th on the grid to 3rd on the podium. .................................................. .................................................. ....... Other stuff .................................................. .................................................. ....... Dauer 962LM 0-60: 2.5 seconds (some say 2.6, but that's cuz they're bitter that the mcLaren F1 was never going to be the best) Top Speed: 251mph (some say 250.5, but half a mile an hour is variable between different people's equipment. 251 is thought to be most accurate) Curb Weight: 1080 kilo's Power: 730bhp at 7400rpm.............243.82bhp per litre Torque: 517 lb/ft at 5000rpm Displacement: 2994cc Compression ratio: 9.0:1 It's power to weight ratio is still better than the McLaren F1. . . . . . Questions? |
well
yea thx 962. email any pix of 656 or 962 to me pls. war_vet_uk@hotmail.com
lol at the reply to stickshift! |
i'll mail some pictures. I have loads though. And I dunno what you have already. I'll try to find some of the unusual ones that aren't so easy to find.
|
after arguing with myself for a few days now, i have decided to completely remodel this car.
Reason being, it was not accurate on some places, the normals weren't up to scratch, and i think i can do better. i will begin tomorow, and will probably have pix up late tomorw of progress.. |
excuse me
dude. I still dunno why you restarted! It was looking so promising. Sorry, just realised, whilst browsing the forums, I didn't send you any more photos. I'll see what I've got.
What's the progress like? The 'La Sarthe' collection could be quite a wikid idea. 956, 962. What else would you need? a Gulf 917? There's plenty of McLaren F1's. A decent nissan R390 would be cool. The WSC95 would be amazin. It's the sort of idea mods are made out of, but then tracks are required! And am I right in thinking NFS4 wouldn't support a track as long as LeMans? Or am I confusing it with Grand Prix 3? Anyway. I hope you're still busy with the 956/962. can't wait to see 'em. |
THanx for the comments will work on it.

dude, i may not be the best car maker, actualy i suck. but i love lemans, and if you're gonna make a lemans mod for nfs4, count me in!! i'll help in any way i can! just e-mail me at gogetta20@hotmail.com or hit me on AIM at Ishkarotto.
.can't wait for the 956!! it's gonna be a beast! now maybe a better 917, and hopefully a 917/30! |
Omega X-2 S.A.D Edetion semi done
daiyum!! thats really nice!!!
|
Yeah it does look pretty amazing don't it?!
Regards the 917 - yeah a good one would be nice. The 917/30 is being done for the GT Mod so there would be little point. hey Majin - Best PM DJC about helping with the collection, but in all honesty I'm not sure he'll need it. However, do you know how to make new texture files for tracks? Do you know how to do track editing? Cuz DJC and Venom have the cars covered but I wanna make some tracks when I'm not busy helping them with CARP files. Also, do you have Grand Prix 3? You could take the textures from that to make a decent looking texture file. I don't know how to do it properly and I'm usually busy with the mesh, but a texture file from GP3's Monaco would be amazing! Can't wait for these Porsche's! |
