Question Computer restarts

On Sunday I installed two hardware: a HIS Radeon 9550 and a 256MB memory. The computer was going fine when it starts restarting fdor no particular reason. I tried re-plugging everything but it still restarts for no reason. Can someone help me?

If it just started after you put your card in, make sure your card is in the AGP slot snug. And make sure you have enough watts on your psu to power it.

I tried doing that and it still has the same problem.

Also I don't know if 300 psu is enough to power the video card. Sometimes they say its the video card problem, sometimes it's the memory that has a problem.

300 watts is more than enough for the 9550. I'd return it, and buy a 9800. The 9550 is the equivalent to the GeForce FX 5700LE, not good. But, you could try making sure, again, that the memory is the same and it's in the sockets tightly.

If nothing else works, check the CPU, I found I had accedenatlly unplugged the fan on my CPU once, so it got a little hot which cued my MB to restart the compy. Dont worry that your system will have shorter life-- unless you CPU is super fast, the heat sink can handle this for a while. Also make sure you didnt block any airflow to major components (CPU, graphics, memory).

do you get any beeps or any errors before it restarts? and btw, it could be an overheating problem. just check if the cpu fan is plugged in and the are around the processor is quite roomy so that there is proper air circulation...
