Ya, not the TT variant, and will not be turbo'd because auto, but... given how bad the transmission is, a manual transmission is 1 thousand cheaper to replace than an auto so.. If I swap the transmission then that engine is getting twin gharrett turbo chargers attached ^_^

Those rims stay Rick, unless I decide to replace with Enkei RP03 or Arashi.

Edit: Car puts out approx 268bhp atm before turbocharging.
Also, this bodykit would look nice on it to replace the damaged parts... Kaminari

You bought a car with a piston knock and a bunch of other possible internal problems for $2500? I think you just got yourself into a deeeeeeeep money pit just to get the car reliable again. Trust me, my dad and I have been through many cars that have been mistreated. You will find scary stuff in there, and have to replace a lot more than you're betting on right now. It's best to buy a car that hasn't been beat on. It looks nice, though.

one of the cars I had on my list to buy. But never got close to buying one because of bad gas mileage. The reliability ratings weren't that good either so I forgot about it.

But if you have the money to tune it and put gas in it, it's simply a sexy car with no match.

That depends on whether the transmission gets swapped for a manual here in a few days when I take it to get serviced. Im getting ahead of myself in the video.
It's currently an auto trans, and I will never turbo and auto. If the trans is ****ed up, a manual trans is 1k cheaper than a auto to replace, so in that case, it will be getting twin gharrett turbos and a HKS intercooler(otherwise a mishimoto radiator).

Ya, gas mileage on a sportscar is one thing I really was not caring about lol... I mean my parent's jeep is rated at like 24mpg and it can get 40mpg on interstate, so I dont doubt that Z can get better than its rating.

I paid 2500 for a chassis and body, that would be about the same price if if got a wrecked body and messed up chassis from a wreck yard.
The knocking could always be because it had been sitting for a very long time with no oil in it and not been run...in a very long time. Once the car is running the engine is whisper quiet, so.
Plus I can always swap the engine down the road which is what I keep having to explain to people, I can drop the Z32 TT engine in it, or a RB26 DETT instead. I have already looked up the prices and technically the engine would be worth more than what I paid for the car at that point.
Trust me, I have gone though more than a few mistreated cars as have my parents, my mother approved this and she has been working on cars since the 70s, so she saw nothing too big with it.

Grrr... ADVAN A048 are discontinued, those were track tires...would have loved to have them, oh well.
Got set of 4 Avid Touring on order, will take about a week to get in and I can't drive the car anywhere till I get the new tires on, the current ones are THAT bad.

Once I get the new treads on I will take it to a foreign car specialist and get a full service done and hope that the transmission starts shifting right.

Yup, sad thing is, most of it is just cosmetic. The car mechnically is almost perfect, just a few things like the transmission.
Small thing, I was looking at car today wondering if I could get the RR rim off and noticed the shock and coil overs... they have been upgraded as well, but I cant tell what brand it is until I have the car on a rack.

I really wish that the guy had taken care of this thing...
I found the washer fluid tank today, just a hole below the rear hatch(they really saved space on this car by building most everything into the frame and body) and emptied a gallon of fluid into it. Tried the pump, waited a few seconds and... fluid came out of all the lines onto the windshield WOOT, I was afraid that the motor or lines were screwed up. But man...the smell that came out of that tank when I pulled the plug....wheeeeeew....

Edit: For some reason, the ignition key no longer starts the car and I have two spare keys that you would get from walmart that start it and the OEM 300zx key doesnt do anything at all anymore, so that just wont do.


Just ordered a blank 300zx key, will get it engraved as soon as I get it.

/MOAR problems!

Went to DMV to get title transfered into my name and the dimwit owner signed her name in the spot where I was supposed to sign mine, so the title is void -_-
So, now I had to expedite a correction form to her in birghmingham overnight for her to fill out correctly(LOL YA) and then send back to me before the freakin 20 days expires...

Anyways, onto the car..


Bought 8 quarts of Trans oil, 5 quarts of 10w-40, K&D oil filter, transmission screen and some brake cleaner.
Going to say screw mechanics since the car is immobile at this point, jack the car up and do the work myself.
Also, not shown is another gallon of Antifreeze, going to do the flush myself with hose and refill the radiator. Ugh, next on list is Tires, another FULL tune up(plugs, wires, everything) and then see how the car does.

Atm im trying to find a 89-96 300zx Repair manual for the car and all I keep finding is for the Z31 and not Z32, getting annoying...

Did some more work to it today, cleaned cold air and gave it a wash and de-greased the engine.


Got the cold air out today to clean it, man that was a pain in the ass... screws havnt been undone in years, thing was just caked in dirt, dust and road grime, clean now.


Washed it and it looks a loooot better, I plan to wax the car tomorrow along with changing the oils, radiator flush and ect ect ect...


Right rear tire, got two jacks holding the rear up to keep it off the tire. I just learned today that all 4 tires are the wrong size entirely... which explains a lot...

My car is supposed to have P225/50ZR16s and it currently has P225/60Z16s, the people on the 300zx forums were like "wow what idiot put those on". Ya...

I don't really like the side part of the bodykit as well as hood and spoiler, but the rest seem fine. You seem to try your best on working on your car.

I do try, as for the body kit it's not for a year or more away, but I am getting it(label me ricer, idc).

Going to wax it today, and try to get oils changed as well as flush the radiator.

Some good news on the front bumper, apparently it's Polyurethane and not fiberglass, and a body shop said they would need to look at the damage, but could probably fix for about 500 or less.
Im hoping since it's just warped that it will be much much cheaper than that.

This is quite cheap to do and will prolong the life of the traps, plus I can probably do this to other parts as well.

After talking with some people on the Z forums, Im a bit worried about the tranny... sounds like it could be ruint and needs a rebuild, Im hoping not.

That kit would look a lot nicer minus that fender and wing. All the holes in it remind me of a TVR, and what's the point of an oversize shopping cart handle on the back

Looks great with the exception of the few scuffs and scrapes, which are very minor considering the age

I agree with SLP though, the wing and excessive holes ruin that bodykit... but as the car is yours, you can do whatever you want with it.

By the way, what camera(s) do you use for photos and recording videos?

That body kit again is aero, so the wing is fully functional unlike normal aftermarket wings.
But ya, I do like it and it looks better than any Veilside, Wings West or anything I have seen.


I use a Cannon S3IS for all my pictures and videos, can get 7 mins of video on a 1g card and several hundred max res photos. 6.5meg/pixel images, can take some insanely high quality shots given the right settings.

Ya the air filter, is chromed on top, before I cleaned it, it was black. Give you an idea how dirty it was?

Ugh, I tried to do some work on the car this morning and the car refused to start, followed by the car alarm going off for no apparent reason...
So I charge the battery for an hour, check all the fuses, wires, everything and after 3 hours I still cant find anything; I get mad and slam the driver door and all of a sudden the dash lights go out and the car starts -_-
Wasted morning over something that I still dont know what it was...

From the sounds of it that block should be a cube. Your plan of attack for this car is pathetic. It probably needs a new motor before a car wash and a new steering wheel. You really have no idea what you're doing, do you?

I dont plan on doing anything major to this car other than required repairs or anything else for at least a year, it may be sitting still for 6 months until I can afford the insurance.

As are the seats, steering wheel and misc parts. I dont have the money to blow on things like that when I'm in college and the mechanical repairs come first, not cosmetic.
