Um, that IS 'serious mods'. Do a dyno run and you'll see why. You'll get about 20-40hp less on a dyno on a brand new car. Let alone a (ab)used one like yours.

Even I know, that's a long, long, way to go.

GTR is right, if you want to achieve results like that out of your tired old engine your goina need to do a lot of work im afraid, however, 200 - 300 would be easy enough to acheive, and trust me thats all you will need mate. i have shitloads of fun in my car and it hasn't even got 100BHP aka i can still hit 115+ MPH with mroe revs to go i can get to sixty in about 10 - 11 seconds with no passengers and about 12 with passengers lmfao
200 - 300 would be hellish fast

Guys, I am sure he reads up the forums on nico, fresh alloy, and nissanforums... And he seems to be getting a direction... I just hope he takes the car out on the track a little bit and figure out what he really wants from this Z.

Who has not dreamt of a 500 HP monster in their garage?

Anyways, Teku, looks like I missed that.. But your figures seem to be off - Have you taken into consideration a 15%-20% power loss (From crank to wheels)? With 500 @ Crank, I cannot see how 475 rwhp will be achieved.

I am never shipping Fedex again, I keep experiencing nothing BUT problems like this over and over with them.
Hahaha...Fedex never loses my shit.

Serious mods as in reinforced engine parts, the stock engine can handle so much hp before you have to start rebuilding it with reinforced parts.
Take into account I will be engine swapping plus upgrading multiple components to get to that hp level.

I also know the rwp is less than the physical engine hp.

I have, 525bhp, with aprox 475 rwp, this is all using parts and estimates from Z1 Motorsports on a stock VEG30DETT

Good for you...

Found the tranny mount, it was in the middle of the highway in front of my house, it had been run over once. Was fine though luckily, got it installed(feel sorry for the person that hit it though).
But ya Fedex is gonna cough this one up.

Ok update roar, good news and BAD news.

Timing belt, serpentine belt and water pulley belts changed.
Left rear bearing tightened.
Transmission oil changed and seal replaced(seal went out).
Balance and alignment.
Nismo tranny mount installed.
Full electrical diagnostic performed.

Good news first I guess, vibration is completely gone, the problem was entirely the tranny mount and not one of my engine mounts. Car no longer hesitates at all accelerating and will redline if I floor it before shifting(remember this is an auto), didnt do this before at all, had issues shifting from 1st to 2nd. The car now just rockets off to 60 like it's nothing, Ill try to get a 0-60 time later.

The old Tranny mount I got back was just...wow, most of the rubber was disintegrated and the mount is slightly sideways compared to the overall bracket(will take picture later).

Bad news... One of the mechanic's hot rodded in my car, I can tell this because I had black on my exhaust tips(which WERE clean) and my front bumper is broke.
Now remember I had been sanding my front bumper down and it was perfectly smooth and ready to be painted? Ya well it now has gashes in the bottom of the bumper and the splash guard on the bottom is broken in multiple places and the bumper is even more warped now. Im just going to ASSUME that he hit a bump way to ****ing fast since my car is oooonly 4 inches off the damn ground and bottomed out breaking my front bumper.
I have already called the mechanic and left a rather annoyed message on his machine requesting a call back, should be and interesting call back.

The mechanic also didnt put my intake piping back on correctly and cleaaaarly didnt double check his work, it only took me 30 second and a standard screwdriver to fix my couplers and pipes, but really not the point here. Just chipped out 800 bucks for this and I have a broken bumper and shotty work here and there.

Car out front of my dorm, just got back after being at home for past two days.

Apparently this car attracts a lot of attention even in its condition, already had several cars try to race me and THREE cops follow me and one of them to my damn driveway at home...god... guess I earned that.

If you pull off those numbers, I owe you some internets. For that bit of restoration, it sucks the way that mechanic handled your car. Hope you do a quick inspection before you leave (with your car from) any shop, from now on. Don't ever give 100% trust.

I'd be damn pleased if I saw 3 cops following me expecting me to race haha

With my Impala though, cops just assume I'm some old ****. They don't bother. And you know what, I'm better off that way. And of course, I turn down the volume when I see a cop.

I have never trusted mechanics, I didnt trust this one even though my parents did AND my neighbors, but I didnt expect my BODY to be ****ed up...

As for the numbers, I have done everything up till now that I said I would do, and I still plan to do everything else. So, you will owe me intranets in the futures ;l

lol... 3 separate occasions, and on ALL occasions doing the speed limit... the one time I got followed home I kinda floored it up to the limit and maintained it(was fun to watch him in rear view keep up LOL), so >_>

Pics of the old trans mount.

One on the left shows the bracket is not straight and the one on the right.... those holes SHOULD have rubber in them, because they didnt the car was shaking all over the place.

Unfortunately...and they just expect you to speed too

Here is some pictures of the damage to the bumper.

If you notice the red clay here and there, his parking area or driveway was full of it and had 'bumps' large enough to do that kind of damage and I assure you that damage was NOT there to begin with. Given the amount of rocks and clay that fell out when I first pulled the plastic... He had to have it it hard, the plastic broke in the same spot on both sides of the car almost perfectly as well... then it broke at the mounts on the passenger side and just plain pulled away from the mount on the driver side.
There is NO way to fix this, it has to be replaced. This is a piece of plastic that helps support the bumper and because it is broke, the bumper is now even more loose than it was to begin with...

BAH

But before I head off to classes(just took a joy ride in it around campus, god it's fun...) here are a few glamour shots..

Oh and it's now 12pm my time, he opened at 8am and I have yet to receive a phone call from him. Anyone want to place bets on if I do?

not bad, sounds like things are progressing, at least with getting a new front bumper you wont have to paint the existing one, and have you ever thought that if he does call you could grip him by his balls and try and get him to shell out for a new bumper?

Cops are annoying, at times. Instead of doing a bk, get the JDM body peices? Looks like the front bumper cover is a good place to start.

Forget about the mech calling you back. What is done is done. In the worst case, it can cause animosity... And might as well not bother. If he treats your parents cars nicely, let them have that... And find another garage, preferably one that has worked on a couple Z's before (cause you probably already know the PITA that it is when you're in the bay)

Oh, about dem internets... They be saved.. To put into the getaway car - to avoid paying you internets

Bingo, I have no proof that he did it, or his mechanics even though I know he did it and he knows it. I might could push it in court but I aint going that far with this. New bumper is 200 bucks, misc parts around the same, so about 500 dollars total?

More/less Im taking my business elsewhere.

Indeed, and yes I was looking into a JDM TT front piece and maybe a stillen lip, that combo looks pretty nice
I will ask around on the Z forums about people who own a Z in my area and where they get theirs serviced. Though supposedly this guy had raced and nascar, this and that, blah blah

Still going to paint the current one, paint = 20 bucks, bumper = 200+ and you will only be able to tell the bumper is messed up from up close after it's painted.

More pics, thought you subby fans might like this ;P

Mine is lower ^_^

Two more of the subby

More photos, took her around town and looky what I found

I absolutely loved his paintjob, it was a Silver/blue Metalic with a Pearl accent stripe down the sides, looked very clean and nice.
Dont quite like what he did to the fog lamps, but since you kind have to remove the bumper to mount OEM ones...kinda makes sense.

Man, what an asshole that mechanic is... don't you have feelings to kick his head? lol...

But, it's still nice to see the car progressing and that you take it to college instead of keeping it in your garage, atleast we can see more of it. Good luck with the front bumper.

BTW, personally I don't like that stripe on that Silver Z. It's like from 2 Fast 2 Furious.
I like the color though... and I also like that Impreza's liscense plate... the owner watches too much Initial D I guess.

I hate vinyls, please please don't put that ridiculous looking crap on your car. Especially those riceboi mufflers...your stock mufflers look a LOT better.

If you're buying a new bumper, you might as well get an aftermarket one, instead of an OEM. If not, fix this one up and paint it, I can wait to see how it'd look.

That muffler system he had was either HKS or GReddy and ya, massive. I want Labree which is almost the same size as the stock pipes, quads and isnt the soup can crap.

The vinyls, I am undecided, I dont want anything 'normal' I designed my own vinyls and had them made for my bike, I will most likely do the same, I just cant decide on a pattern.

Im sticking with a OEM TT, specifically JDM TT. I can get one for a reasonable price from Z1 Motorsports, where the only other aftermarket bumper that even remotely looks nice on the car is Kamanari and it's about 800+?
I have however bought a can of primer and will begin priming the bumper to paint as well as some final sanding, to fix the major gashes that moron put into it. Given I can replace the plastic supports and misc parts behind the bumper, the bumper itself is in otherwise fine shape(given the GASHES), but if those plastic supports keep getting broke them my bumper will just plain fall off.

Indeed... Already poking around Z forums for a good mechanic in my area.
Nah, she is with me at college, no more garage keeping for her, decided to extend the insurance completely to make this my daily driver.
LoL I caught that too on the Wrx

When you get your ride up to the same standard as that Subaru, which looks good btw, I do hope you drop a nice set of Work's or Rays on her.

The guy with that silver Z... Nice paint... But ruined with the vinyls and the fogs (could have done better finding a cheap ebay peice that replicates the OE stuff w/o the hastle of OE install - to accomdate the easy-factor)

I know Stillen has a catback system with dual tips.. And Borla also has dual tips (uncertain if it is just the tips or full catback). Not too sure about flow and where, in the band, you'd get gains (and the amt of gains)... Do your research... And good luck.

Rims will be Enkei RP03 17s, decided on this long ago.

The fog lamps on this car are glass, expensive as hell to replace(100+ new each) and the plastic ones that are 'made' for the car, dont always work as well as the way the OEM ones do.

Stillen, too high pitch.
Borla, obnoxious backfire sound.
GReddy, deep, but not enough and too damn big.
HKS, too big and too high pitched.
Z Customs, expensive, but looks good and sounds great.
Labree, best sound across the range and the size is 3.5" quad tip or dual upon order.
B&B, annoying backfire sound.

HP gains will be in the 15-20s because of how restricting the old pipes are(this will remove the cats), then add the Stillen headers onto it(claimed 22bhp gains) and thats a nice jump for about...
300 Stillen headers
800 Labree system
Still pretty steep, the problem is upgrades on the N/A are expensive and really... outside of changing the engine itself, freeing up more airflow is the only way to boost hp on the N/A.

Installing a part like the one piece driveshaft, light weight fliywheel and such would free up rwp, which would be nice, but once you swap the engine and trans you have to replace those both as well.

Labree pipes.

Dont quite like what he did to the fog lamps, but since you kind have to remove the bumper to mount OEM ones...kinda makes sense.

On the N/A model it has headers that run straight to the pipes which have the cats built in.
On the TT model it has headers, downpipes AND exhaust pipes.

Little simpler on the N/A, but I still have to remove the oil filter and a few other things to get enough space under there to work around.

It looked like a Pensacola Area(Santa Rosa County) plate to me, that was here in Mobile AL though, not FL.

Ah ha, had some free time between my first class and next so... why not clean the car up and paint start painting the bumper right?

Clean rim left, dirty rim right. lol... big difference.

Finally started priming the bumper, yes terrible job, but it will get sanded down some more and get another coat or two plus masking next time.

Before the coat of primer

Looks better from that already.

lol, had a guy ask me if I was selling it today because he saw how much I had been working on it the past week and I'm like, "nope, just fixing her up", he walked away rather disappointed lol..

Yep, those are Rota Torques. Basically knock-offs of the V7 STi rims. Not a bad choice. Thanks for the pics BTW.

Same goes for the desert out west. It's usually like that.

WELL ****

I drove my Z to breakfast this morning and after leaving her for twenty minutes and returning the entire car was locked up. The key refused to turn in the switch, the brakes would not depress, steering was locked... Took me ten minutes of looking and checking things before I manually put the car into second gear and suddenly everything unlocked and the car started.

IDK WTF happened, I have already made a thread on 300zxforums.com describing it as best I could and asking for advice, I have never had this happen in another car and would rather it NOT happen again.

ROFL I got them calling BS on me doing the above to the car if everything was locked up, when they keep forgetting my car is an auto and has a manual shift release on the shifter to put it into another gear even if the car is turned off.
Jeez...

Just drove it back and forth to class, it sat for an hour inbetween with no problems afterwards. I really DONT know why my car locked up like that, anyone got some ideas?

Well someone on the Z forum actually didnt call BS and backed my theory on it possibly being the Neutral Switch, which tells the car when it is in park or still in gear. Problem is, if that is going out I have no idea where it is to replace it, but im hoping it was just a one time thing.

Eventually she will be manual with a new engine...just hope I can keep her together until then

It actually shifts fairly fast, there is some delay from when it goes from neutral to drive but so would a manual.
Ya and most Americans are too lazy to shift a car in a city environment dozens of times back and forth to one place. Though I cant say I'm not, I want a sequential box >_>
