Default JimD's track projekt

I tried to make a new track a few years ago, but gave up. The track didn't looked good, even after I spend many hours on it. But after I saw the improvement of the EP3 tracks, I thought it's time for a second try.
The track got a complete new shape, I started with makin a circle with T3ED. The next step was replacing textures. There already 60-70 % new, it looks very different now. Now I'm going to replace more textures and add new stuff.

Here's a preview of it :

Hi JimD !
Very nice track by the looks of it.
Any chance of a beta test run for those of us who are interested?

Welcome to NFSCars.

Welcome to NFSCars.
Sure, but I still need some more time to fix things like trees standing in the air, etc. I hope you can help me with camera positions and maybe some effects when the track is going into final phase. I have never worked with those tools.

To NFSCars : I registered here years ago using JimDiabolo. But I never got the activation mail, therefore I wasn't allowed to post here. Now I used another name & email.

Sure I just need to get the school year done first
I can also send you some of the tools I used - Gammaray's incomplete FRD tool is good for adding lights and special effects (which are treated by T3ED exactly like lights I think) and there's a good editor (and tutorial) for camera editing. I always found camera editing to be weird though, there's always surprises in the way the camera behaves that I could not understand.

Here's a updated trackpreview, where I drove in the other (forward) direction. From start to the tunnel I'm finished now. But it's just about 35 blocks of the track.

I got the next blocks of my track ready. It is the most modified part of the track so far. It took many hours till it reached this state. But I thought the track needs something special. You can have a look on here :

This track is unbelivable, it doesn't look at all like NFS HS! Very nice work, man .

There were already two lanes, I diveded them some more and tiled some ploygons to make the rocks. The road around the pond is a extension of the borders, the rest filled up with objects.

I've finished the next part of my track. You can have a look here :

JimDs track - Behind the lake

I'm not sure what to do with the last segment that's missing. The track shape has already been changed, together with most textures. Except the houses which still look like the original track. Maybe I find some new textures for them or I just delete some of them.

Wow, so detailed... the rotating wind generators, the smoke coming from that one house's chimney.
Simply Amazing! Awesome track.

Whatever you do with the last segment of the track, I think it will still be amazing .

By the way, how did you make those rotating wind generators? They look really cool in the sunset.

They are just a animated texture with seven pictures. I first had 8 pictures, I thought frames go from 0 to 7. But the last one wasn't shown So I had to change them again. Sadly we can't make a real animation, like the plane in hometown. Or can we ?

It's still a mystery. If animated objects appeared in T3ED, then it would be possible, but unfortunately, they don't. Perhaps Nappe1 (Lasse) will release a new version T3ED in the future that allows you to edit/create animated objects.

Or the animations object are not inside the .frd files, but in another file?

I can't wait for this one to be finished! You seem to make much more progress than I do

In the case of NFS4, they are all contained within the FRD file. T3ED just doesn't show them.

Must be in tr.frd. T3ED doesn't show it, but at least you can clear those data.

I hope to finsh my project before we have our next Team GER meeting. That is usually at the end of summer.

Nice track! It looks like it's more of a high-speed track because I can't see any narrow or sharp turns. Am I right?

There are more sharp turns than you can expect from the track shape. I think it won't be a CLK track.

Here is a replay of a Hot Pursuit race on my track with night & weather.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYvFbKqXZs4

There is no own night version (no trn.frd), but I think I can live without.

I'm currently doing some small changes like the signs and some polygon flags. But after I gave up fixing the AI line, there insn't much more to do. Download will be here soon. (1-2 weeks I guess.)

How's the track's AI, by the way? I hope it will be challenging enough in single-player mode? Some custom tracks s/a the Mystic Peaks remake or the otherwise excellent Autobahn are simply unplayable due to the AI going berserk.
