-Do not submit a drawing you have already shared on the net and/or with a nfscars member
-Do not reveal your entry during voting; you will be disqualified

-You may not edit your drawing with any computer editing program. All work must be done on paper.
-Do not plagiarize or trace an image; you will get disqualified

I don't see anything wrong with looking at an image. The Mustang I drew for the previous contest was not from memory at all, although I could do it. I looked at an image, but it was in a slightly different angle with different wheels and color.

Copying an image pixel by pixel is the second lamest thing you could do after tracing one.

I don't like that logic. So... what, a painter should imagine his own landscape instead of portraying the one before him? Make adjustments to nature?

The second you draw that car (without tracing of course, that's stupid), it becomes yours, from an image or not. It will never be pixel for pixel, there will always be your hand imprinted on it, whatever details it may be.

I'm not an artist, but my dad and grandfather are. My dad can't put images of old Iranian stuff in his archeological articles because of copyright. So he traces them. And guess what, it looks so... original... his. It's obviously not a photo since it's ink.

Cars are no art, but they're advanced design. Car photography is really nice - but in a drawing, you must change it to give it the feel & atmosphere of the photo or moment - which, pixel by pixel, is impossible to achieve with a pencil or anything available to us. Cos we're not DSLR cameras with Uncle Photoshop's help.

I meant pixel-by-pixel as copying every single thing in the image. Drawing cars is now a different passion, where we make them look cartoonish, tuned, etc. and not really copy the image with its background. Still, there is nothing wrong with copying a photo. It's just more attractive to the eye when it sees creativity involved.

Painting is different, where you would actually look at a scenery around you, and paint what you see. It needs skill, not creativity.

As for the contest, there are no rules on whether you color it, copy it, paint it, distort it, or whatever, as long as it's your own work.
