Cannot set Manual shifts for the life of me

Salutations

I think it was a half year ago when I installed NFSHP2 here. I think I even used some official patch on it. Whether it was in menus, or ingame, everytime I set Manual it would always revert back to Automatic.

Ran as admin, I think I even disabled DEP on the game but no dice. Any ideas..?

When you go to the vehicle selection screen before you enter a race you will see a blue automatic under the car.
mouse click on that and it will change to manual.

That should do it.
