I was looking around and noticed that well, my car meshes suck. And I don't care. But I did notice one thing else. I noticed my tank meshes, espically the Tsar one I recently made, are really good.
And then I remembered something.. "Stick to what you do best."

Anyway, the point is I'm gnna work on my tanks more. And I'm going back to an "old" pre re-format project.

I am going to make all 20 A7V Sturmpanzerwagen German tanks from the first world war. This may not sound like much, but there is very little material on them, and every one of them was different from the others in some way or another.

So, to begin with. I'm doing Chassi number 528, otherwise known as Hagen. My personal favorite, and the easiest to start with because I have a 1:25 scale model of it.

I'm putng as much detail into these A7V's as I can, but my polycount limit is 15,000. So I can put all 20 of them into NFS4.

And don't worry, I'll finish the Datsun 240RS as soon as I get CD9 to make my textures.

Without further adieu, I present A7V 528 "Hagen".

Cool, wireframe pics maybe? shouldn't be too poly heavy on parts of it, maybe the weapons but not the body.

The body and weapons arn't even all that, it's the interior and running gear that are going to kill the polycoung. 6 Maxim 08 machine guns and a 57mm Nordenfeld rapid fire cannon will only take up maybe 2500 polies total. The runnign gear with 36 bogie wheels, 3 bogies, something like 74 track links, and a full undercarriage are gonna take alot.

I'll show a wireframe later today when I get some more substancial work done.

Alright, I finished the frame of the chassis. Still requires all the running gear and alot of brackets and stuf. But oh well. I also put in a floor for all to stand on!

Now on to buisness matters. I need pictures. I've got alot as it is, but I need more.

Specificly I need detail images of the origonal A7V's. I have enough pictures of 506, Mephisto, which is at the Queensland Museum in Australia, so the only ones I need from that are of the chassis or interior.
I really need images of the interior or chassis of 563 "Wotan", wether it be the origonal or the replica in the Panzermuseum in Munster Germany.

But most importantly, I need images of the A7V in any way.
I have images of the following ones:
500 - prototype - 3 pics
501 "Gretchen" - 4 pics
503 - 1 pic
504 "Schnuck" - 2
506 "Mephisto" - 51 pics
507 "Cyklop" - 2 pics
527 "Lotti" - 1 pic
528 "Hagen" - 8 pics (and a models)
542 "Elfride" - 005
562 "Herkules" - 1 pic
563 "Wotan" - 10 pics

Plus I have aproxemetly 51 images that I can't identify or are of models/drawings.

I NEED images of the following or I can't make them.
502
505 "Baden 1"
525 "Siegfried"
526
529 "Nixe 2"
540 "Heiland"
541
543 "Adalbert"/"Konig Wilhelm"
560 "Alter Fritz"
561 "Nixe"
564

Of course I can identify what chassis number is in the image provided it's clear enough to read any words, numbers, or color patters that might be on it.

So please, if you happen to have any images, feel free to post them here for me, it would be greatly appreciated. I've pretty much cleaned out google.

Well, It took quite a while to find usable images of the Maxim-Nordenfeld "Sokol" 57mm gun for the main gun. But I did it.. well.. nothing very detailed.

So here you go. The main gun is done, and is about 1250 polies total.

Well, I did some work on the A7V. But all I've done so far is the Maxim MG08/15 machine gun. This will of course be used for all the A7V's I'll be making. Unlike the Nordenfeld that will have to be re-mounted into a different "turret" for some of the A7V's.

Anyway, enjoy.

Default B.T.O. Debut Car - Fantasy Car w/o name

Well, about time I showed what the bulk of my recnt work was (That MG-08/15 took about 30 min to get done and get right, and that was while I was watching TV too). I did the running gear/suspension. Although I decided to "cut corners" here because it's not as likely to bee seen I didn't put as much detail into it. If course it added another 3660 polies to the A7V, and I told you all, the running gear would kill the poly count.
So now it's at 7030 polies, about half what I'm using as a max ammount, and of course it's maybe halfway done. I have alot of fine detail stuf to do.

So yea, I skimped the running gear by only making the 6 visible road wheels, of the 15 that the A7V has, per side. The suspension's pretty simple too. But the good news is that each side only needs 2 bars and 4 brackets for them to have the running gear fnished. So it's almost done.

I need to do the drive sprocket though, so that will come soon, along with the paneling to cover the stuf that needs to be done.

Alot of the detail work that's going to follow this is going to be in the track links, and the interior... So we'll have to see about that.

Enjoy.

And another update. Enjoy, tracks. Current poly count is, drun roll please... 12522. I'm gonna have a hard time keeping it under 15,000 polies I think.

Some critisczim please?

Well, I'll leave you to figure it out.

Just over 13600 polies.
Anyone know the max ammount of polies NFS4 can take?

I believe 15000.

I've seen cars that have 18,000 made for NFS4 though.

11.000

With 15k, the car won't work on the menu..... just in-game. and probably you will get some exception caught errors sometimes...
I believe yoour polycount is "on the edge"

On the edge is right, I have seats, the top of the couolpa, all the windo armor, the entire drver/commander area to do (2 wheels, 2 pedals, 6 levers) and it's at 14,367 now.

So I guess t's not going into NFS4, I may let people convert the A7V project to other games thugh, GTA perhaps if I can get someone who can do it right and set it up like the tank in that game.

Well, almost a month with no update. Whohoo!
I did alot of the body texturing, now the interior and stuff is left. Of course I have a bunch of exterior details still to be made, so that will come, and the top.. I realised I haven't finished the grates or the coupola top.
Anyway, enjoy. And PLEASE comment, I want opnions.

Unfortunatly, I don't have HP2, nor will i work on my computer.
But I am willing to collaborate with someone who wants to import my A7V's to NFS6. If anyone's willing.

Yea, but why not put it into a game? Everyone needs a laugh. Besides, I'd prefer to put it into some kind of a comabt game, but for now I don't know of any. But I did/am offering to let this go into GTA, since there it should work well.

oh yeah, vice city would work awesoemly, its gonna look weird in gta3, cuz all the cars are much newer, and the old tank wouldnt fit the style, but vie city had older cars, so the tank, although MUCH older styled, would fit better in it, it looks great man! jsut figure out how to make it so you can shoot missiles out of it! itll be awesome!

Another update.

It's still not fully textured or modeled, but I added some 3d details this morning, and I want to share.
Current polycount is 18,118. And that vent on the top makes up a few thousand of it.

Also, this morning I e-mailed the Panzermuseum in Munster Germany, and requested any and all information they could send me about the A7V, as well as images of the A7V's which I have no images for. Let's hope they can help me there.

Finnaly, I've decided not to give the A7V's out for free. Rather I plan to sell them. The way I'm thinking now is to put all 20 on a CD, textures, meshes, images of the real thing, and all the information possible, and cell that CD as "The A7V Collection".
Unfortunatly that would mean I'd be selling the CD for $1500 USD. Since I won't accecpt less then $50 USD for one mesh, and all that info and the time I'm taking to organise it and such, it's gonna cost.
So I'd like to know what you guys think about that. Is it a good idea? Or should I instead offer the different A7V's up for sale individually?

I'll post a mesh update later.

Easiest thing to do would be to convert them to .max, and try and get them up on Turbosquid or somewhere similar.
I haven't used TS before, but there are a fair few meshes on there.

Another update. I put in alot of detail now. Not far from completion I say.

Current polycount sits at 28,254. I'm thinkin it will end up with around 35,000 when done.

EDIT: Wow, I added 10,000 polies in 4.5 hours.

And yea FCD, I've used Turbosquid before. I had my St.Chamond mesh up for a fairly low price from the moment I completed it and I only took it down 2 months ago. It must have been up there 8 months and not a single sale.
Turbosquid doesn't seem to get much buisness I think. Espically not for some obscure tank like the A7V.

Well, I just got my hands on some pictures of 529 and 543. As wellas more pictures of others I still have.

Ijust wanted to say, expect an update on Hagen (52, and the unvieling of Wotan (563), perhaps even the unvieling of either Mephisto (506), or Elfriede (542).

Well, after alot of wrist killing work. I added most of the rivets... ok.. only about half.

The poly count has now shot up to around 60,000 polies.

And unfortunatly no Wotan or Elfride (The one I decided to do) pics yet.
But as so you don't get too upset, here's a myriad of pictures.
Please, thank Twizted for the pictures, my laptop won't let me take screen captures.. I gotta fix that.
So yea, thank him.

Anyway, here you go... I again change the predicted poly count to *Drumroll* 100,000 polies.

As for progress, Wotan is not far behind Hagen, they're basicly the same except paint scheme, and exhaust pipes and a few other minor details.
Elfrede however... well I have to build the entire body from scratch for Elfreide.. but I get to use the tracks. chassis, and a bunch of other parts.

Without further adieu, the pics.

Thanks man. But there were like 4 of them I don't have, lol.
I stripped the internet of A7V-ness. And last month I contacted the Panzermuseum in Munster Germany, which houses the replica of Wotan (which is recognisable because it has the roman numeral III on it by the way). But they havn't gotten back to me.

Anyway, thanks alot man.

Well, I managed to make my laptop take screen shots (T'was a software problem.. so I replaced the software).

Anyway, here you are, enjoy an image of Hagen and Wotan together, untextured though. So I'd be surprised if you can tell them apart.

I'll give you a hint if you wanna try (Bonus points to anyone who can tell me which is Hagen and which is Wotan, there is a difference, but it's small).

Anyway, yea, I'll see about textures and stuff soon. They're still both fairly far from complete, interiors and other crap remain.
And I don't even eanna get into what Elfride needs to be completed (See percentile on sig).

So without further adieu, here it is.

Remember, bonus points to whoever can tell which is Hagen and which is Wotan.

Yea, left is Hagen.. I just noticed the numbers match up. 528 is Hagen and 563 is Wotan.

Anyway, the difference is.. except for interior and paint stuff, the exhaust pipe. They end differently.

Anyway.. on to texturing today.

And Jay, aproxemetly 60,000 polies per tank. Most of that is tied up into the almost 1200 rivets that cover the outside.

1200 rivets, 32 polies per rivet.. you do the math.

EDIT:

Whoops, ignore that last poly count. I just checked, and each tank has 68,830, and well over 1500 rivets. My count was before I added the top rivets.

So that image of Wotan and Hagen, has 137,660 polygons in it.

I'm gonna TRY a finish render in like 2 years when all 20 are done. And right now I'm thinking that render will have over 2 million polies in it.. eep.

Also, should I do number 54 "Heidi" that was built in 1919 off of a "Glendanwagon" chassis to fight civil unrest in Germany after the war?

I'll add a pic of Heidi/Heidi 2, and one of the Glendanwagon here now..

I think this one will sale quite nicely on TS. Have another shot and see if it works. Get good renders to make it look nice. Get someone professional at website fourms like CG Talk.

Back on topic - Wow. This is the MOST AMAZING TANK I HAVE SEEN on the web. I love the modeling. Oh, if you can make something more modern and more fire power, I will sure download it! (hint hint sig pic)
