NFSCars Photoshop Contest - November 2008

If NFSCars can have a photography contest, then why not have a Photoshop contest to complement it?

Rules:

1. You must state all images used.
2. You must not steal pre-PS'd images, or else you'll hear about it.
3. Only one entry per person.
4. Entries must be submitted to me via PM or e-mail, as a thumbnail.
5. Entries must be 1024x768.
6. Do not reveal which entry is yours in the thread in order to avoid bias.
7. No negative criticism, for example: ZOMG THAT CHOP SUX. Comments like those will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly.
8. Entries must adhere to NFSCars' Rules.

If anyone wishes to suggest a new rule, feel free to send me a PM.

How This Will Go Down:

Three threads will be created over a period of four weeks.

Thread #1 will deal with submissions and voting. Those who wish to participate in this contest will have two weeks to work on their submission. Once that deadline is met, thread #2 will be created.

Thread #2 is dedicated to voting. The poll will be open for one week, and voters may vote for one submission only. The winner will be announced ASAP. Fairly straightforward.

Thread #3 is dedicated to any comments and suggestions other members may have towards the winner's entry. That thread will be open for one week. Once again, negative and immature comments will not be tolerated.

Similar to fd2black908's Photography contest, the winner of each NFSCars Photoshop Contest will get to choose the subject for the next contest.

To initiate our first NFSCars Photoshop Contest, lets start out with a fairly simple subject - Subaru. Deadline: November 16, 2008.

Base Image: 2008 Impreza WRX STI.

Alright ladies and gentlemen, let's see your hidden Photoshop talent!

Of course, the winner of each contest may pick the base image to be used, and may enter their photochop if they wish.

That's a nice base. Contests without bases tend to fail because it's impossible to compare entries and vote unbiased.

But really, just edit your pic full size and after that, resize it. Well, I guess we all don't have a choice..-_-

No, only your submission must be sent and posted as a thumbnail.

Why the low res final size? Often people put alot of detail into their photoshops, and it is quite nice to be able to appreciate that detail at full resolution. Obviously it isn't going affect load times of pages if thumbnails are used, so yeah. My two cents on the final res.

Indeed, my min wallpaper res is 1920x1200 now... Reducing it to such levels hides a lot of details that get put into it.

You can do whatever you want to it, as long as its within NFSCars' Rules and isn't a stolen, pre-Photoshopped image.

With GTR in it's going to be though, I like photo editing, but I'm not going to enter (I won't be able to beat GTR or Revolution or any good photoshoper anyway) on top I don't have enough time and I can't work with photoshop (I'm stuck to MS Paint, and should really follow some photoshop lesons).

ah, it's nice to see that someone got around to re-start my photo-editing contest. Although some rules are a little different, it's still the same basic concept. Although let me just say that there should be one uniform size restriction and the original 1024x768 would be fine. Personally, if you can't do anything but complain about a size restriction rather than work with what you are given, then you need to re-think your photoshop techniques.

One way to fix that Imprezzive is to give them the source picture in the size you want.

But why? This isn't 1998 anymore, our displays are high-res enough and our internet is fast enough not to have to worry about high res imagery.

I can understand that it isn't ideal to have a stack of different entries at all different resolutions, but personally 1024x768 is a bit on the small side for this day and age, and this sort of competition. If we MUST have a maximum resolution, I propose 1600x1200, starting with the next contest as the base we've been given for this round is 2048x1536.

Besides the fact I can make a 2000x1200 image size be as small as a 1024x768, and I can also make the 1024 be as large as the 2000

Image dimensions do not calculate image size.

I have had 4000x3000 images that were 700kb and 800x600s that were 20megs plus...

Alright, I suppose 1600x1200 would suffice for future Photoshop Contests, Revolution. This one will be excepted, though; the final image could be 2048x1536, and could be re-submitted at that size, for those who have already submitted their images.
