It's a sad thread alright, with quite a bunch of outstanding classics to boot. Have you been 'studying' for the 'GTC' thread or what? The Canadian Manic GT is pretty rare (or at least not very popular), and I'm confused about the triple-lens taillight Sting Ray split window! The poor Dino crammed into a corner breaks my heart, as does the early 2nd gen Firebird (one of my personal faves) sticking its sexy nose out of the junk pile. Some of those cars - like the Bizzarrini Strada - are probably awaiting restoration so don't mourn them yet.

Yeah, you're probably right. For example, the Exige, second Stingray and the Ferrari's look like they can be saved. That modern Maserati is just dusty if you ask me, just like some other cars near the end of your post.

Sad sight, really. No more torture please, although I know there will be.

Oh no, I study college not game strategies...

But yeah, some are not completely useless, but still, If none takes care of them, they'll share the same fate. Such outstanding cars...

Well, here's some more from me...

Here's something really rare: the 1967 TVR Tina coupe, one of two prototypes of a cute model which never reached production due to financial reasons.

The other example, a convertible, has been acquired by a private US collector and (thankfully) fully restored. Obviously too rare for the 'GTC' thread so I'm posting it here. You can read about the coupe's fate on this page but the info regarding restoration hasn't been updated since late 2007 so it's still a big question mark.

Thank god for car restoration efforts. Most of the cars though, look as if they mostly just sit outside often. Those split window Sting Rays got a tear out of my eye.

So what can you tell us about the triple-taillight model? According to Mike Mueller's 'Classic Corvette: The First 30 Years' book it appears to be a popular custom modification, so that's probably what it is, right?

Looks like - on the basis of those pics - the Miura is one of the top choices for classic car neglect.

By the way, is that a bull bar on that Muira? Yeah, the triple tail light is a custom fabrication. Get's it's inspiration from the Duntov Grand Sports. Never really was big into that sort of thing.

Well, obviously, owners of such cars should get shot.

How can you leave a Gullwing rot like that?

The nostalgia these shots evoke is just....wow. Do you have any of these in 1680x1050 and above? I'd love one of these as my wallpaper.

Come now, the original owners of most of these classics are dead and gone by now. It's the stubborn current owners who have champagne taste, and beer income, thinking they can restore some of these greats.

I was referring to the later ones, of course. The original owners did their part, but seems they aren't getting the treatment they deserve as automotive icons.

Somehow this thread naturally has a very gloomy atmosphere. It really is sad to see such cars collecting dust, especially those European exotics - you don't see those everyday, and to see one is exciting, even when they're forgotten.

I was like WTF especially at the Ferraris (moreover the F40), Lotus, and was that a 300SL Gullwing?

Well, at least it isn't one of the ultra-rare 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupés.

BTW, this one (posted by ES in the first batch) is a Mazda Cosmo Sport, isn't it?

It's still a great loss nonetheless. The 300 SL Gullwing is one of the most remarkable sports cars of all time, and leaving It to rot like that is just macabre.

These forgotten beauty cars are mostly left by the oldies maybe? BTW, I got a...sad feeling about the cars, the cars without an owner. I was scared of lonely. BTW, if I am one of the owner, I might sold it or give it to the young guys.
The cars seems useful for something. But why no one took them away?

I will get some pics soon.

those cars could be easy fixed and made classic again but the owners or ex-owners should be ashamed of letting cars like that go to waste.

*wipes a tear*

what hurts me the the most about these pix is that these gems just rot away while im stuck with my (by comparison) crummy Korean car.

the Cuda, the corvettes and the last Mustang Boss hurt me the most
