Seems as of lately this has started to annoy me more and more, seeing cars going 10 under the limit in the fast lane and someone else doing the same in the slow lane, thus impossible to get around.
Moreover people generally going well under the limit in the fast lane when they should be in the slow lane. I had two cars tonight while I was out driving, be in the slow lane...and then suddenly cut in front of me in the fast lane doing 10 below, in turn causing me to swerve out of the ****ing way to avoid hitting their idiot rear end. I took the liberty of downshifting and revving up as I went past, they moved BACK into the slow lane at that point. Guess they got the hint? What is the freaking point if no one follows the handbook that they read when they got their license? I mean sure things differ from state to state, but the fast/slow lanes dont change. I've nearly had 3 wrecks this month because of cars pulling that idiot move and pulling into the fast lane with cars coming up behind them. At one point I had two cars to my right, empty lane ahead and a car riding my tail. Cars to the right doing 45 in a 55 zone, then one pulls in front of me with like 10' of clearance... I had to cut clear across into the side turn lane and floor it around the car still in the slow lane to keep from slamming into the idiot that pulled in front and the one riding my tail. Pretty sure a cop would have come after me pulling that kind of move, if I'd hit my brakes I'd of had the guy behind me slam into me, didnt have time or clearance to shift lanes and decelerate. Comments? ![]()

Were you doing the speed limit, or were you most likely over in this particular case? No offense, but I'm going to have a hard time believing you were doing exactly the speed limit.

Flash to pass is all you need. But yah, people that impede traffic in the passing lane are ****ing idiots.
If that doesn't work, buy black Crown Vic with tinted windows. Cars part like the Red Sea when I drive the Grand Marquis. But then again, I'm in Canada and it's legal for undercovers to pull cars over.

Similar problem in the UK.
Mainly with CLODs (Centre Lane Only Drivers), but now see it to a small degree in the overtaking lane. In fact, one of my mates was terrible for it, he always had to be in the outer lane. |

In THAT particular case, I was doing the speed limit yes. Mainly cause it's hard to pick up speed when everyone else is all bunched together and cant seem to use their gas pedal. I do normally drive 5 over except in the city, cops watch me too much >_>

Pure reason why I drop the hammer down to get ahead of everybody else the moment I hit the interstate. I don't want to deal with people's bullshit.

You let this shit bug you, you get annoyed, get angry, affects your driving and eventually, somehow, **** up your car, while they still cruise around, not giving a shit about your 'dumb' ass that just (or almost) crashed.
You cant beat them join them foo. Courtesy is non-existent on today's roads. One person trying to drive right just leaves his self open to be ****ed by all the other ignorant drivers out there. Simple as that. |

People also don't know how to use their blinkers.
Out on the street, in a 40 mph zone, I was doing the limit and was about to pass a guy in a left turn lane doing 15. He jumps out in front of me, still doing 15. I pump my brakes like crazy (no ABS on the truck :/) and come within inches of his tail. As my right foot cramps up, he tools away like nothing happened. Now I have to drive home using my heel to accelerate. Only when I catch up does he begin to accelerate. How some people got their license is beyond me... Well, either that or he was drunk.

LOL@no one getting Limpin's post. You honestly think after all the work he's dumped into it - not to mention the rigorous cleaning and detailing that car goes through - he's going to endanger it by driving like a generic, prententious Middle Eastern driver? You know, the ones who have black/beige front rims from all years of brake dust. He'd be a ****ing joke.

In Texas, any driver over 18 doesn't have to go through driver school, and I know a lot of people that don't. Some people just don't want to flat out pay for it. What worries me more than uneducated drivers, is uninsured ones (who might be in a sense, the same uneducated ones). I wouldn't have a problem with strict regulations to a person getting a license. Something needs to give, the DMV is a PITA to deal with already. I've had my share of encounters with idiot drivers, especially in the rain.

Do you know how many time's I've wanted to let the air horn just blare on a person because of their stupid actions, or block a lane for a few miles driving the exact speed limit, annoying people behind because they cannot get around, which slows them down, and frustrates them to the point where they will either make a stupid maneuver and pass, which if baited correctly will result in them getting a ticket, or give up and just wait until I must proceed on my route which takes me off the current course. Being a professional driver, no matter who's at fault, It always comes back to us.. so if you decide to rip ahead of us, slam on your brakes and get hit, its our fault for not anticipating you being an asshole. |

I agree with Sinister on this, I do try my best to be as safe as I can out there, but you always have to watch out for the other moron, almost nailed a drunk in his Silverado tonight for running a stop sign on a back road.

Like Sinister says, those of us that drive for a living have to be as close to perfect as we can, after all if we lose our license, we'll also lose our jobs.
When your talking about a Transit-type minibus, that can be pretty hairy, you know you can get it through that gap in front if the other drivers would pull over and slow down a bit. Or you wind up with the one with crappy acceleration (I'm talking a good 100yds of slip road to get to 50 from a rolling start - not good when trying to join a dual carrigeway with a top speed of 70). |

Why do so many people have a problem with people speeding on here? it's not speeding that's dangerous (granted speeding by a lot is) but it's the way some people drive that is more dangerous for example cutting people up, tailgating, driving with little or no attention to surroundings plus various other things. I know here in the UK they have slogan speed kills, clearly a lie or I'd be dead by now but come on driving standards is to blame not speed.

Easiest way to get some of these ass hats to pay attention is blast a train horn. I'm in the process of installing one on my vehicle. Should turn out to be quite fun.

Best way to make people open their way for you?
Buy an Impala or Crown Victoria. Seriously, people would anxiously jump outta my way when I was doing 105mph in that piece of shit. No wonder I was constantly going that speed. And maybe that's why I never got a ticket in it. Quote:
Can't deny it though.

Plus, to be frank, you got lucky there - had you hit something then very likely you'd have wound up in hospital. Not long after I started driving I had 2 accidents due to inappropriate speed. The first was similar to yours (except I wasn't going anywhere near as fast), and I could've wound up in hospital as I slammed into a ditch, but I got lucky and walked away from that. Most RTCs involve speed as a factor. Vehicles fitted with experimental technology (basically, a GPS receivcer wired up to a speed map and connected to the ECU to regulate speed) have shown as much as a 25% reduction in fatalities - and that's just because they couldn't exceed the limit. |

I was travelling way too fast, yes, but I think had I only been going say 10 or 20 MPH over the limit I would have been fine, speed kills only to a certain extent. A lot of the time it's down to some idiot pulling out in front of someone or tailgating.
I'm fairly sure that had I hit something I would not be here today I really cannot believe how lucky I am. I still think that speeding doesn't kill so long as your sensible about it, which clearly I wasn't I went way too fast, saying that though I won't speed in a 20, 30 or 40 limit they are there for a reason.

In continental Europe they just have 3 lanes, the fastest one is for going 140km/h, middle for other cars, and slow for TIRs, trucks etc.

sometimes its fun to cut infront of someone who's speeding quite excessively. If they hit you, its 100% their fault. Quick and easy way to get some repairs done on a vehicle without paying anything.
