Hi there!
I've been for a while in this site but I think it's the first time I will start a thread so be nice just wanted to know if anyone knows any game for PC about racing with muscle cars and moding them or anyt ype f game where you can modd like you want and then race it.Quite the same as a Motorcity Oline but without paying (lol I'm cheap)and that runs rather good in a PIII 600.It can be a very old game I once played in a 486 but I don't remember the name any more Thanks :super: P.S. - And when I say modding is really modding not that cheap modding option that NFS5 has ![]() |

the Intel80486 game you played was probably Street Rod or Street Rod 2. i own both and they rocked for their time. i still play them on my old 486 from time to time, along with SWOS, Stunts and 4D Boxing.
there will be a new Street Rod game soon. aside from the now defunct MCO, i know no other game that focuses exclusively on Muscle Cars. EDIT: if you want to download both Street Rod 1 and 2 and also try out the Street Rod 3 Alpha (very alpha stages), go here: http://www.streetrod3.com/

too bad that MCO was shut down, i think EA made a huge mistake by asking 10 dollar a month and not ship the game to the whole world, but only america. i've played the beta and since then, no game could equal (bad spelling i know...) the amount of parts and the many ways to customize your car, so that everybody has his real personal car. it was one of my favorite games i've ever played. if you find a game wich is about the same, plz let me know

If ya played such game on 486 (i also had this comp ~6 years ago) , so it MUST be Death Rally. U can tune wheels, engine, guns and armor. Also sabotage oponents before the race. It races in the top view (like in GTA2)

BUT... this thread is about muscle cars games. Death Rally (as it name clearly shows) was more of a road-warrior game. granted, you could buy some muscle-looking cars, but it just ain't about tuning and nurturing muscle cars. Street Rod 1 and 2 are. MCO was too and it seems that Street Rod 3 will be as well, if it ever sees the light of day.

Hmm, there is a Muscle Car game called Interstate '76 by UbiSoft (I think, or ValuSoft).. It has 16 Muscle Cars like the Cougar XR-7, Barracuda, etc. But I'm not sure if it's for sale in Europe. I saw it at Wal-Mart last week. For $20 Canadian.

OK, I got a question about Street Rod 2. I'm not very familiar with DOS based games, so how do you get the sounds into your speakers? Everytime I play it, and when I exit it, beeps start to some out of my computer. It's extremely annoying!
Can someone that is familiar with DOS games, help me out? :dopey:

you're probably using a sound card that emulates Ad Lib (Sound Blaster Live?). Street Rod 2 only supports Ad Lib or the standart PC Speaker. somehow, recent Sound Blaster cards seem to emulate Ad Lib through the SB16 emulation, which is the same as saying that you emulate an hardware through another emulator, which is a double emulation and these, usually, tend to go wrong. my i80486 computer, equiped with a Sound Blaster 16, played the Street Rod 2 Ad Lib quite well, but my PentiumIII, equiped with a Sound Blaster Live! does not. i reckon it must be a glitch in the Ad Lib emulation that, while working with most games i've tryied, it doesn't seem to like Street Rod 2's Ad Lib system.
i know it sounds awful, but the only way i know to solve your problem is to choose, at the start, the PC Speaker output. sorry!

I'm not talking about when I start it up. When I exit the game, the PC speaker continues to make noises.
