Which is the best car game of ALL times?

Game:

Motivation:

My best game of all time:

Gran Turismo 2

It's still a very fun game to play and it has such large amount of cars availible and so much to tweak on them.

Need For Speed SE, blows the crap out of all racing games. This bad boy not only came out a couple years before the first Gran Turisimo, it had good physics, decent car selection, point to point (with cops) and circuit tracks. And the showcases were done by Road and Track.

i agree. except for the physics part. the actual race physics were good, but if you *hit* something, be it a car or a stationary obstacle, you would fly... like--REALLY fly! is it sad that i still have the original box, case, and CD for that game? BTW: i still have some killer replays of tricks, stunts, crashes, and other fun stuff. havent played in a while...

Default A letter to John Kerry, from a Green Beret

This is gonna be a hard chice.. GT2 spoiled me for sheer numbers of cars... but I've quickly bored of it since.

So, since Ih've got nothing better to answer, and I am the Group B rally know-it-all here.

RalliSport Challange for Xbox.

My reason? Need I say more then these 6 cars?
-Metro 6R4
-Peugeot 205 T16 E2
-Audi Sport Quattro S1
-Lancia Delta S4
-Ford RS200
-Renault R5 Turbo

Default NFS:HS Car problems

Best car game... Well, there are 2 favorites, but I'll go with RogueLeader on this one:

The Need For Speed (Special Edition)

It's what started it all. The first racegame to have proper graphics, proper handling, showcases, proper tracks and police.

The other favorite? Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, mainly for the same reasons as TNFS:SE. It comes closest to TNFS:SE in terms of handling.

EA should do the next NFS in the same style as TNFS:SE. All the best supercars (Enzo, Koenigsegg, Zonda, Porsche Carrera GT, MB SLR, Lambo Murcielago Roadster, Corvette C6, Viper SRT10, etc.) with showcases including movies, the best tracks, both point-to-point as circuit racing (and not like NFS6/7 with just 3 environments with tracks all looking alike), police (also including the police scanner offcourse) and finally the gameplay that made TNFS succesful: Quite realistic, yet still arcadish enough to have a lot of fun with the cars.

Gran Turismo 2 was pretty awesome. Lots of cars, great physics, many races, upgrades, etc. It gets my vote, 'til GT4 comes out.

GT2
Tons of cars and tracks, but since it is a PS game it has crapppy graphics. Also the physics are nice, but needed a bit of work.

GT3
Not as many cars as GT2, but has improved physics and much better graphics than GT2 since it is a PS2 game.

TNFS
The racing game that started it all. Nice cars, nice tracks, good gfx for its time, and nice physics.

NFS2
This game is just fun. Nice cars, ok physics, nice tracks, and also had good gfx for its time.

NFS4
Also a fun game. PS version has better physics and slightly better looking cars even though it has much wors gfx than the PC version. Lots of addon cars for the PC version and also lots of addon trcks. The tracks that came with the game are ok, but not as good as the tracks in TNFS or NFS2. Also is easy to edit for the PC version.

I'm gonna have to say the best game is Grand Turismo Concept. I played it only once but that was enough make up my mind.

I would have to say GT2 until GT4 comes out. Tons of cars, great physics, good graphics as far as PSX goes, awesome customability and if you happen to have a gameshark (especially V 2.4), you can hack into a whole new world of infinite possiblities for hybrid cars, and some hidden cars, most of them just bodies. My favorite hybrid I built was a '98 Honda Integra Type R (hidden car) built with only Honda/Acura parts that weighed ~1500 pounds and had 977 HP

i agree with the ones who said TNFS(SE)...

outstanding game, especially for its time.

i installed it again some time ago, wasnt as fun as back then, cuz the sound was messed up and i had problems with the handling, as newer games require a really different keyboard technique, but still i brought back some good memories...

if theyd make NFS8 TNFS style, but with (updated) NFS6/7 gfx... itd be the next NFS after NFS4 id actually buy.

after i got TNFSSE, NFS2, NFS2SE, NFS3 and NFS4...

for time ive played one of those games i have to say that i played NFS2/SE most.

a list of games behind TNFS would prolly be this (no particular order)
NFS2SE
1nsane
Re-Volt
Toca WTC (for PSX, not the Toca World Driver or whatever the newer codemasters game is called)
GT1
P.O.D.
maybe NFS4, but somehow i never had as much fun playing that as i had with other games...

I forgot to add the runner-ups:
NFS4 awesome customability-'nuf said.
TDOR3 (PC) fun off-road game with easy TGA/perfomance/sound editing.
Streets of Sim City It has racing, but the best part is blowing up sh*t in your own SC2000 cities
GT3 sweet graphics, tracks, replay value, etc.
TDOR2 (PS2) I love the Rod Hall Hummer and the free roam ability.

I see. I got mine from my neighbor. He gave me a bunch of old PC games. One thing I like about the old games that they might not have the graphics of the new ones, but they have awesome replay value because they would actually spend some time in thought about how to make the levels and the bad guys, and stuff like that.

For me, NFS SE was the king Too bad it doesn't work on my PC anymore.....guess I have to buy a 100 MHz Pentium with 32 MB RAM and Win 95 to rum old games :super: Then, the WHOLE Gran Turismo Series, NFS 5 and UG.......and some leftovers which don't worth mentioning.....

Yeah, the replay value of GT3 is awsome

Man, it's a hard thing to choose if you think about all the games you played before. My original list would have at least 25 to 30 games. but lets just choose one.

Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 (a.k.a. Zero One)

It's almost a street racing version of the GT, you have all the itens on a car to tweek, a noot so good but ok physics, possibility customize your car with body parts and an real working paintshop, where you can paint your car the way you want and and make graphics for it. And, Thousands of miles to drive around, heh, it took me almost 10min to take a lap at wangan in a Supra

Sorry again
