hello all and thanks for reading / posting, this is my old thread that shows (without pictures) my growth from my first steps here to an amateur modeler wannabie.
This thing is very huge and I'm proud that I got so far. Please take look in my newer thread for current projects.

Btw the F40 need lot more work, the model looks good but textures are missing and the dont have any glass.

About the Technology:
As i know is there no car limit, there no Serial Mess like NFS4, So i think there as much places as huge your HD is. IN Fact does MBWR every time when you start the game initzial addoncars, so i think pretty much there no limit.

About the needed perfomacnce, You can displayer 50k ploly car whit a Geforce 440 and there no lag ingame, there also possible to use MBWR on a 350 MHz Perntium 2 PC, so i guess MBWR is not as much power hungry as NFS6 is.

This facts i wrote there are things other mBWR fans told me form ther own PC experience.

And for those how can't buy the game, i don't like to say it but there probaly still a possiblity by downloading it.... But that not the same THQ should go and publish the game really world wide or over more countrys in US/European.

Delete all dummy objects, and etc from car model.
Remove wheels. Save em as a separate objects. If they are same, only two required: right & left sided.
Convert all to LWO (car body, 4 wheels), best way I found is: ZModeler>3DS, then 3DS>LWO by using Deep Exploration (v2.0 tested).

Convert LWO to MOX using MTkit v0.6c+ (I`ve updated it to accept big unknown chunks in LWO, if any)
Use attached MTL file with converted car (It`s 15 color 1 surface set up)

Collision model

Model 20-255 polygon mesh. It`ll be collision box of a car.
Convert it to LWO. Then, using MTkit to COB.

Shadow model (optional)

Create low polygon quantity mesh (~2000). It`ll be shadow source of a car.
Convert it to LWO. Then, using MTkit to MOX. Use attached MTL file with it.

Texture conversion

Convert TGA file to 2 BMP images, rgb and color mask (Both should be 24bit). Mask will be used for color changing (There is possibility to use it as transparency channel, but not both at same time).
Flip both images vertical.
Paint all constant color parts to white on mask (like windows, logos, brakelights, etc)
Compile rgb and mask images to one PTX using PTXtool. (Import rgb, import mask(alpha), save as uncompressed PTX (comressed PTX is buggy yet))
Alternative way: edit TGA as described earlier (flip, repaint mask) and convert it using makePTX to compressed PTX.

Compiling

Edit texture name in MTL file (TexName "" string). Texture name should be "xxx.tga" ("*.tga", but actual texture file is still *.ptx).
Edit second parameter in "MatClass" row. 01 uses mask as transparency channel, and 03 uses mask as color change channel
Rename all objects (I used VT as example):
-car body - vt.mox
-wheels - vt_r_hl.mox, vt_r_hr.mox, vt_r_vl.mox, vt_r_vr.mox (front/rear right/left)
-car collision box - vt_colli.cob
-car shadow - vt_sh.mox (optional, if none, WR will compute shadow from car body)
-low quality car body - vt_ldt.mox (optional, if none WR will use car body)
-low quality wheels - vt_r_hl_ldt.mox, ... (optional, if none, WR will use normal wheels)
-MTL file names match mox file names, only extension different. COB do not require MTL.
Place all files into Autos\vt\
Place PTX intoAutos\vt\textures\
Duplicate any add-on car Editcar.car file and place it into WR-EditCars\vt\ folder
Modify path\names in CAR file (use EditCar v0.3a+). Look at Info tab: "Car folder", "class", "model" fields.
Define tire size/mounting at Tires tab (all values are highly required)
Modify other physics parameters (optional)

Reilsss: this convertion of the F40 is a Alpha version right? dont have any textures.... dont look near of any of you NFS6 conversion.

Hi,
I`m author of lots of WR tools, which needed to import cars into MBWR. Game rocks !!! The real minus is missing multiplayer (will be released by maker soon). Second missing thing is all cars that are not Mercedes-Benz ! I hope this can be fixed too. Few cars are already imported. Algorithm is almost ready.

I hope you`ll read all this and take part in "MBWR project"

This car was mouratos first converting tryment, at a moment as our tools could not allow using textures the way the Diablo have. So yes it was kinda a Alpha, a test to see how to make converting, to learn it etc but like our master Krom does so everything gets better and better. we have just started yet and there is still a lot posible in my eyes. About the two problems we sayed, yes the whole world waits for the multiplayer patch adn yes we need more cars as Mercedes so hopefully we can get enogth people in MBWR, i just hope there enogth countrys that shells the great game

i just got MBWR.

MBWR got lot better graphics and physics engine than any NFS game, also it runs lot better than two previous NFS games. :twisted:

if editing of MBWR is easy enough, i will start makin cars for MBWR, and stop NFS editing.

Kroms newst work, is a convert and bugfix of GOT BOOST's Porsche 911 Gt1 993, i told Krom what the fix all on the model and i think he did a very lovely job whit the nearly finished car.

I've got this game too. And the best thing of that game is, for me, its huge tracks. For example I like a trial that you must complete a section of the alps track during 20 km with Mercedes 300 sl Gullwing. Very beautiful trial

MBWR is by far the game I've played the most so far.. and the list of good points about the game you typed on your first post is really true.

I give you 2 thumbs up for your project and really hope to see this community grows up as fast as it can do.... :super:

First of all is what texture resolution it supports?!And how many texture's can be used? :twisted:

I tested MBWR with textures up to 1024x1024 size, all worked just fine.
Textures can be DXT compressed (DXT5 kind) or RAW (kinda TGA). But converted to Synetic PTX format !

I didn`t encountered any textures quantity limitations yet, MBWR cars usualy use about 20 texture files of 4x4 to 512x512 size.

the Ferrari F40 i had upload have many problem because then i convert it
we do not know how to fix thems. i with upload soon the version 2

the Saleen S7 will have textures, drivers and cockpit

we have to learn many thinks to convert perfect cars to WR

Other projects are Maserati 3200 GT , Audi Allroad Quattro.

ITS GREAT!It means that i can drive my A8 in MBWR!!!Its about 50 000 polys and around 10 textures 512x512 DXT formated.....Now the main question, who can convert it?!?!?! :dopey:

BTW, I forgot to say:
- Current maximum polygon/point quantity is limited to about 60K
may be I`ll fix it soon.
IMO That`s enough for very good car.

ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I just realized that my version was 1.4.2 and wouldn't be able to add the custom cars....So I was going to get the patch to uptade it to 1.4.4 and the patch made my MBWR into German and fFench Language only! (that wasn't too bad, since French is compreensible...)

But me and my BIG HEAD must to make the $h!t and reinstall the game to see if getting another patch and uptading it again, I would be able to keep the game in English and.......guess what!!

MY -----' cd-rom drive isn't recognizing the CD2 of MBWR..... So, I'm unable to reinstall the game.. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

D@MNIT!!!! I should have left the game in FRench aswell..so I would be able to play the game now....

There is international patch available
Mine MBWR 1.4.4 uses english just fine
Search for 1.4.4 INT patch
btw patch file can be opened manualy with WinRar. Then you can extract needed files & make backup.

How poor story, anyway i wish i could have english langauge in my Version , i stuck to french and boring german.....

hmm I did a quick search for the word damage in this topic just so I wouldnt ask a already addressed question so here we go since I didnt find it. Is there damage ability in this game? I mean all this game needs is some nice damage to have my full attention.

Yes, there is damage model. It affects both car model and physics (See damage progress in bottom-left corner

your html link name is just over the damage progess, Icekid would not be able to see it... The Damage is like NFS you can enable and disable it, I personaly have it over because i like not damage....

its a good game and the converstions look great but incomplete, Saleen S7 donta have textures on the rims, the bmw dont have interior, please release full conversions.
