Need For Speed: World - Five new cars have been added to the stable.
September 28th 2010
After a massive amount of popular request we're very pleased to announce the Toyota Supra is one of five cars making their debut in Need for Speed World. When we announced the new content coming later this year* we hinted at some new cars but now we're able to reveal more details about which new cars you'll soon be able to drive around the World.
Regular gamers will know we take down the servers for a couple of hours every Tuesday. Normally this is just for server updates, patches and bug fixes but during this week's update we'll be adding five new cars to the game line-up. We've already spoiled the surprise with the screenshot of the Toyota Supra but here are the four other cars you could soon be driving:
- BMW M3 E92
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
- Porsche 911 Turbo (aka 997 TT)
- BMW 135i Coupe
With the addition of these five new cars, there should be some happy gamers.
Need for Speed World Friends Leaderboard Goes Live
September 24th 2010
Today is a very good day! Today we launched the Need for Speed World Friends Leaderboard. With the new Leaderboards you can see how you rank up against either all your friends or people who you've raced against in private races.
Using the Friends Leaderboard is easy enough but in order to see how you rank up against your friends you need to first need to add them to your Friends List. For details on how to add friends to your Friends List in NFS World, click here. Once you've got some friends, using the leaderboard is simple.
The leaderboard will show you the top 10 players who've got the best time on the chosen event as well as your rank. There are four search fields in the leaderboard, they are:
This allows you to choose how you rank against all your friends ('PVE') or against friends you've raced against in a private race ('PVP').
This controls what events appear in the next field, the Event Name field. After choosing the game mode (right now only circuit & sprint) the Event Name field will populate with all the appropriate race events.
This field allows you choose the event that you will ranked on. The events listed in this field are dependent on what you choose as the Event Mode (see above).
Allows you to choose the time frame for which you want to be ranked against. For example, if you choose 'Last 24 Hours' the leaderboard will only displays times posted within the last 24 hours.
So once you've set the leaderboard settings all you need to do is select 'Search'. Pretty simply…
Now go see how you rank up against your friends!
Need for Speed World Servers will be going down tomorrow evening for an extended maintenance period.
This will likely come as good news for everyone, but the download patch may end up being larger than normal after.
We'll keep you posted once the release notes have been posted.
The purpose of this extended maintenance window is to deploy Need for Speed World patch 4.10 to the servers & game. Furthermore, the patch has been extended to accommodate a EA wide database update.
Seven (7) Hours & Thirty (30) Minutes
Start: 22:00 hrs (10:00 PM) PDT September 21st
End: 05:30 hrs (5:30 AM) PDT September 22nd
During the maintenance window the servers will be offline and users will not able to log in and/or play Need for Speed World. Players who are already logged in and are playing NFS World will be disconnected from the game.
Contest Official Rules and Discussion Thread.
NFSCars is now hosting its second Need For Speed World Contest. This time around, it will be a vinyls contest. We are looking for the best looking design that would represent NFSCars as a whole. Unfortunately the game limits vinyls to 31 layers, so you will have to be creative with your design and inspiration. We are also working with a minimum of 3 weeks for the contest in order to allow everyone to level up enough to obtain whatever vinyls they want to use during this contest. Anyone will be allowed to enter this contest.
Good luck to everyone.
The winner of our first contest in Need For Speed: World is Zaza_el. The 23 year old won with a laptime of 1:40:30 on ‘Welcome to Palmont’.
His name is Mark and he is from the Netherlands. Beside his studies he works as a chauffeur for important people and drives awesome cars. The only job that could be better, so he says, is to be The Stig of TopGear.
We are very happy to announce the Need for Speed World Oktoberfest Community Event!
The Oktoberfest community event is the second of many community events we plan to run and this time we've done something very special to the game. On Saturday, September 18th the boardwalk in Camden will be turned into Oktoberfest! We're going to have posters of the pretzel girls, pretzel wagon smackables, giant pretzel inflatables and things to see while you drive through the area. The boardwalk is going to look great!
With this whole new look to the Camden boardwalk it's only fitting that we add a new race event; so we're also going to be adding a circuit race too. The new race event will be called "Welcome To Oktoberfest".
The Oktoberfest community event will begin on Saturday, September 18th and will continue until Saturday, October 2nd. During the event we will be hosting a competition to see who can post the best time on the "Welcome To Oktoberfest" race event.
There will be three car classes that you can compete in; tier 1 cars, tier 2 cars & tier 3 cars. The best racer from each class will win a great prize that have been provided by Logitech:

T-Mobile and Need for Speed World are happy to announce that they are giving away a free in-game car in Need for Speed World!
The free car is a MazdaSpeed3 with the T-Mobile livery. It's very easy to get the car; all you need to do is visit http://t-mobile.ea.com/home and enter the code 'getconnected'. Doesn't take much time at all and you get a free car out of it!
Because of the extremely high number of players on the NFS World servers early Sunday the team had to deploy a priority maintenance patch to the servers without first notifying the community.
The reason for the patch was to perform maintenance to the NFS World database server in an effort to reduce the load on those servers. As a result all players that were logged in and playing NFS World were disconnected from the game. The patch has now been deployed and all players should be able to log in and play NFS World without issue.
Furthermore, the Need for Speed World forums are currently experiencing technical difficulties so we've been unable to post this update on the forums. We expect the forums to be back online very soon but don't have a solid ETA at this point.
We don't expect to have to perform any addition maintenance to the NFS World servers until the weekly maintenance patch.
We do apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
With the news and update recently of the World being completely Free To Play, here are some new screen shots of the Kempton, Fortuna, Night and Performance parts of the game.

The Need for Speed World team has announced they are removing the Level 10 cap starting today and making the game completely Free to Play.
The Need for Speed World team is pleased to announce we are removing the Level 10 cap starting today and making the game completely Free to Play.
We've listened to the comments from our community and we've decided to make a change. Previously, gamers who didn't buy the Starter Pack were unable to progress past Level 10. Beginning today, anyone will be able to race all the way through to Level 50 and will have full access to the entire World, all Events and Game Modes, both present and future.
In the next weeks and months we have some great new features coming including new cars, deep performance customization, a new world region and a co-op pursuit mode. With such cool content we wanted to make sure everyone has the chance to experience the complete game from Level 1 to Level 50. For more info about these new features click here.
Our VIP gamers who bought the Starter Pack before today (Sept 8th) will soon be receiving a little present from us in the form of three free 7-day car rental vouchers for the BMW M3 GTR, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Audi R8 4.2 FSI Quattro. We wanted a way to say "Thank you" to our most ardent fans and cool, fast cars seemed to be the best way. We'll be emailing codes to all the qualified gamers shortly. Thank you again for all your support and passion.
