According to an article posted not long ago on NFS: World's official site, current beta session will close in approximately 2-3 hours and the servers will be shut down for one day only to host probably the biggest amount of NFS: World beta players to date in an open session.
Access will be given to anyone who has previously been an accepted tester and those who will register on http://world.needforspeed.com/. Open session will begin Friday 2nd of July and will end on Monday 5th of July.
Additionally, savegames from beta that is currently still running, will not be deleted.

Original article, posted by NFSKirk, can be found here.

The betaVI is being released tomorrow, so start downloading the new client update today.

Known Issues

-As this is Beta Software, it is recommended to uninstall previous versions of the game before installing the latest game launcher
-Players can continue to spend Boost on Rep Progression Amplifiers after reaching level 50 but this will have no effect
-Quitting out of a single player race currently counts as a DNF in the Player’s statistics
-Rarely, the Standings screen will report inaccurate/no times, or a ‘Retrieving Profile’ message
-Blocking a Player does not prevent that Player from being added to your Friends List
-Occasionally, spamming certain keys while entering/exiting the Safehouse will cause the game to crash
-The Nissan 350Z will occasionally lose its headlight texture when smashing into an object
-If a Player attempts to purchase a Powerup with insufficient SpeedBoost from the post-race/pursuit screen, the game will hang
-There is a known issue preventing some supported controllers from functioning on 32-bit Operation Systems

Just a reminder to everyone who is participating in the World Online beta V, the last few days are upon us, and hopefully alot of you got some decent play time in overall. I hope that any errors and bugs you found were submitted.

On the flip side of the coin, E3 starts Tuesday next week, so we're going to finally get some new information about the Criterion Project, and hopefully some media with it as well.

Other than that, have a good weekend, and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, only a couple more months until Winter (in Canada, anyways) starts again.

Since EA announced the Need for Speed World Starter Pack they have received a lot of questions from the community about it and decided to answer most of them with frequently asked questions list. Hopefully this FAQ will answer your questions and clear up any misunderstandings / misconceptions around the Starter Pack

What is the Starter Pack?

Need for Speed World is a free-to-play online racing MMO. Players are able to download, install and play the game for as long as they want without spending any money. Players will be able to progress to driver level 10 but once they’ve reached that level, they will not be able to progress past it. They will be able to continue to play, for free, for as long as they want. In order to progress past level 10, the player must purchase the Starter Pack. In addition to being able to progress past driver level 10, players will also receive a bundle of items including:
- $20 USD worth of SpeedBoost. This is $20 in virtual currency you can spend as you like in the game.
- Bundle of Power Ups (available to all newly created drivers in an account)
- One exclusive vehicle(available to all newly created drivers in an account)

Players who purchase the Starter Pack will not have an unfair advantage over those playing for free.

Our mission with Need for Speed World is to offer a large variety of playing styles for players who choose to pay as well as those playing for free. The experience of both groups of players must be fair and, above all, fun! We will never introduce a mechanic that provides a distinct advantage for those who purchase over those who choose to play for free. Further, the matchmaking system in use in Beta 6 is intended to match players into races against opponents with similar skills and cars. This philosophy applies across the whole game. It's our mission to continually improve and evolve the experience with you as our primary source of input.

The term Starter Pack implies that this is the first of many packs that we’ll have to buy. Is that the case?

No, the Starter Pack is a one-time purchase and once purchased you will not need to spend any more money. We will support Need for Speed World with regular free content updates, available to all players.

If I choose not buy this pack, what’s left for me to do after I reach driver level 10?

There will be lots to do in Need for Speed World for players who have not purchased the Starter Pack. Continue racing with your friends and/or anyone else playing the game, customize your cars, participate in Community events for the chance to win prizes etc… We invite you to play the game free for as long as you like from launch until we can either convince you with awesomeness or you give up on us. We'll keep tuning the experience and adding new ways to play based on your feedback.

What do I get if I pre-order the Starter Pack?

In addition to the item you receive as part of the Starter Pack (see above), you’ll also receive:

- Guaranteed access to the remaining betas
- A one week head-start (July 13-19) on playing Need for Speed World before it goes live with increased XP rewards
- The ability to reserve your driver name before anyone else

– SPEEDHUNTERS Edition Nissan Silvia S15 from Direct2Drive or Direct 2 Drive UK
– Limited Edition Volkswagen Scirocco from GameStop or Gamesload Germany
– Special Edition Mazda MazdaSpeed3 from Best Buy, Impulse, Metaboli UK, Nexway UK or GamersGate UK

How much does the Starter Pack cost?

The Starter Pack costs $19.99 (USD), 14.99 GBP, 199 SEK or 19.99 EUR depending on where you live. Again, it’s a one-time purchase and you get a lot more than $20 worth of goods in the pack.

The Starter Pack is available as a digital purchase from the EA Store or the retailers listed below:

Europe:
- EA Store

- GAME UK

North America:

Will I be able to buy the Starter Pack in stores?

Currently the starter pack is available as a digital purchase only.

How long do I have to pre-order the Starter Pack?

I don’t live in North America or Europe. Can I still pre-order the Starter Pack?

For the past few weeks we’ve been on tour giving media a sneak peak at Need for Speed World. By now, you may have read some of the preview articles from the gaming media such as IGN.com’s Preview of Need for Speed World. If you’ve seen the previews you’ll no doubt have questions about the Need for Speed World Starter Pack.

Need for Speed World is a free-to-play game. After downloading and installing the game, you’ll be able to play the game for as long as you want without having to spend any money. However, you will only be able to progress to a certain driver level. Once that level has been reached, players will still be able to play for as long as they want, but will not be able to gain additional Rep to progress. In order to continue progressing in the game, it will be necessary to purchase the Need for Speed World Starter Pack. With the Starter Pack you will receive:

- Access to continue progressing your Driver level
- $20 USD worth of SpeedBoost
- Item Bundle of Power Ups (available to all newly created drivers in an account)
- One exclusive vehicle(available to all newly created drivers in an account)

At this point we have not yet determined the cost of the Starter Pack. Please keep checking the Need for Speed World website for further announcements regarding the Starter Pack and the launch of Need for Speed World.

So in essence, World Online will be a free to play game up to a specific level, for this example lets say Ten. After you achieve level ten, you will not be able to progress your reputation which would allow you to purchase newer cars, or other new power ups available. Clearly giving those who pay for the starter pack more of the game to enjoy, as well as the Top Tiered Cars. This may disappoint many upon many gamers but World Online is a good starting platform to base new Massive Multiplayer Racing Games on. When More information is available, we will be sure to post it.

EA is firing up the servers for the next closed beta, starting on Friday, May 14th until Sunday, May 16th. Anyone who has participated in any of the previous betas are invited. Additionally EA extends the total user base including the upwards of 20,000 more new participants - so check your inbox, you may have been invited.!

This beta will feature the newest NFS World client that was tested during the Client Test at the end of April. We believe we have resolved the majority of the bugs that occurred during the Client Test and are now ready to use this client in a large beta. Please be aware that you will be required to remove / uninstall previous versions of Need for Speed World from your PC. Once uninstalled, please download the new setup.exe from World.NeedforSpeed.com and re-install.

Some of the new features in this release include new Power-Ups, new cars, improved police encounters, visual updates to the world, and performance / stability optimization. The most important addition will be the ability to purchase Power-Ups using the Need for Speed World in-game currency called » SpeedBoost .
