## Road Marker Facelift Mod

## What does this mod do?
##–––––––––––––––––––––-

Quite simply, this mod overlays the obscure stock MW road/pavement markers with a new set of highly visible white and yellow lines that make the road demarcations much more obvious and defined.

Anywhere you'd normally see faded and used white and/or yellow road paint, you'll now see fresh and unblemished lines, slightly widened from their original size. On multi-lane and freeway roads, the stock white lane markers/dividers have been replaced with standard D.O.T.-issue black and white markers, just as you'd see them on faded asphalt roads in North America.

On top of making the roads look better, the new lines also have the beneficial side effect of clearly showing you what lanes are in your direction and which ones that are oncoming traffic. After trying out the mod myself, I noticed that I was more frequently avoiding the oncoming traffic lanes, thereby reducing traffic and object collisions during races and free roam. Additionally, you can see the road much further on the horizon than you could previously, giving you a line-of-sight edge when racing.

## Do I have to run TexMod every time I want to use this mod?
##––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Nope. TexMod is a pain in the ass as far as I'm concerned. What's more annoying than having to run a background program simultaneously with your game to take advantage of nicer textures? Well, maybe leprosy or tuberculosis are more annoying than TexMod, but not by much. I like the concept of "one-and-done" (see below). In addition, you DON'T need to be running Arushan's MW Mod Loader to take advantage of this mod (but if you're not using the Mod Loader, you're missing out on THE single
greatest add-on for MW, bar none).

## How do I install this mod?
##–––––––––––––––––––-

Very easily, assuming you're familiar with using NFS-TexEd (I'm not including a tutorial for it, so if you don't know how to use it, go learn it).

Included in this download are several DDS road/lane marker texture files which bear the numbers of where they can be found by opening the C:\Program Files\EA Games\Need For Speed Most Wanted\TRACKS\STREAML2RA.BUN with NFS-TexEd. For example, the "2-79.dds" texture is found in texture archive 2, line 79 (see included screenshot). Simply import the appropriate DDS texture into its corresponding
address in NFS-TexEd, click "Archive –> Save", and proceed to the next one until all are in place.

***NOTES***

1. It SHOULD go without saying, but I'll mention it anyway: before importing these replacement textures, export and save the original ones, just in case you don't like the mod and want to revert back to the original faded lines.

2. For texture 19-77, I've included two different versions. If you're already using my "Greener Grass" mod from NFSCars.net, import the "19-77 [Green Grass Mod].DDS" file into 19-77. Otherwise, import the 19-77 [Regular Grass].DDS" file into 19-77.

Arushan for MW mod tools
Adobe PhotoShop CS3 w/ nVidia DDS plugins
McLaren_3Dcm – that's his F50GT in the screenshots (you can find it at NFSCars.net)
Racer_S for the MW Cam Hack tool
Arcturius for beta testing
BodyKiT for his unquestionable (and contagious) enthusiasm for the MW game – every MW modder has AT LEAST one of his mods in their current game setup (and I'd put down good money on it, too).

ENJOY!
