Following the included directions of just unzip to your harddrive and double click it results only in windows cannot open this file box popping up, because it does not recognize and can not open files of this type by default. It would seem that some outside program is needed to utilize this file, and there is no explanation as to what that could be anywhere in the documentation. The stupid windows web service doesnt have a clue what it is either. Very good job, eh.

Ohh, I think sdb files are winXP only, so us win2000 users are out of luck :(

I think you need the Application Compatibilty Toolkit from Microsoft to apply this fix. Google Google.
uh...and btw, on my XP SP2 system the problem was solved by choosing WIn98 Compatibilty mode.

You need Compatibility Administrator to open and install this file, download the Need for Speed and XP patch from this site to get instructions and the program.

for those that are having problems, this is a direct quote from our savior Sam T at ND4SPD World: Unzip NFS4.SDB to your hard drive.

Go to Start>Run and type in the following:

SDBINST.EXE C:nfs4.sdb

Click OK twice.

Enjoy!
Thank you Sam T for taking time to figure this out for us! :)

Thanks for RunR for this patch and Lambo-Murcielago for the instructions. Althouth I think the \ was missing, since it wouldn't work on my computer until I typed it.

So I think the correct typing is:

SDBINST.EXE C:\nfs4.sdb

(Of course you have to type in the drive on which you have Need For Speed Installed. In my computer it is in the drive F, so I typed "SDBINST.EXE F:\nfs4.sdb".)

Thanks again to RunR and Lambo-Murcielago for helping me with this problem.

P.D. Does anyone know if there is a forum for NFS tracks conversions?

It did not work; extracting file to the installation of the command to Nfs3 Run gives me the error message "too many arguments on the command line." In fact the file path is long, but this message appears to me Run in other cases. I used this writing: SDBINST.EXE C: \ nfs4.sdb. Extracting the files in C: \ This command allows me to install the file, but it is not that there is my Nfs3 (3). What is the syntax and the line right?

This patch is for NFS 4 High Stakes. Not for NFS 3 Hot Pursuit. Maybe why it didn't work. lol :)

People having much troubles installing this can get a more complete NFS High Stakes
over haul patch and totally fix this error once and for all by going to

http://www.hsscoring.com/download/NFS_HS_SP_Installer.zip

That will solve this problem and is much easier to install than the original patch.

The credit goes to Jerrythabest for finding this and posting it on

http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/155/t133256-nfs-high-stakes-fix-for-windows-xp/5.htm

He has made all NFS High Stakes players happy for this I'm sure of that LOL.
